i think i am going to take a phlebotomy course. I very strongly dislike of my assisted living job and the idea of being there for 3 years is killing me. a year i can probably tough out, but not 3. plus, i have always found IV's and blood draws fascinating and i think my personality is good at easing people during it. the real question is going to be swinging the cost...

And hubby's off to Montana for two weeks. Party time!!! ^_^

@Des, go for the phlebotomy classes. The more you learn, the more you know, the more places you can go.

Des, I worked in Pediatrics for 14 years. I was a Sleep Technician in a hospital for 6 years. I hurt my back and I don't work now. I took a Phlebotomy class and I am a Nationally Certified Phlebotomist. Just make sure that you have time in your schedule to do the Internship part of the program. You have to work without getting paid for it for about 3 months. You can do it ....go for it!

Viv, a woman who was in and out of the women's shelter when I worked there is finally having her husband charged with abuse. The prosecutor wants me to help show that it was a long-term pattern.

I REALLY hope I can help keep this asshole away from her.

unfortunately, the class i wanted to take started today and another wont start there until july. there is another school that doesnt start until feb and they finish in may, but their offices are closed until the 6th, so i will have to wait and see.

i contacted a few trade schools, but they basically only do phlebotomy along with an MA course, which is redundant to take if i am taking nursing classes. I am still going to meet with a couple of the schools and see what is going on or if they have any suggestions.

I did find a couple places that just opened associates RN programs that i may be able to get into faster than my current school if my credits will transfer.

i am also going to apply at different nursing homes or assisted living places. Maybe it will be better if i just get out of the place i am in now.

UGH! 9 degrees F outside. BRRRRRR! I am glad I ain't in Canada or Alaska. That would fucking suck. Luckily for me I is warm in my room and just got done drinking some hot cocoa. Which may I add mixing pumpkin pie spice delight brand creamer into it tastes really good.

Des, have you called local hospitals to see if they run the classes? I know that 2 of them near me sponsor the classes. Many teaching hospitals will do it or will be able to let you know reputable schools.

i have searched my local hospitals websites to see what i could find and only found 1 that does it, but it would be a schedule that i absolutely just couldnt do. i think a lot of it is just my area, which really surprises me. there are a lot of hospitals, the red cross, good samaritan and things like that, but none of them actually offer the program IN my area. kinda sucks. but there is still time to figure it out.
