Des, call your vet and see if you can go over and pick up a dog gurney to get him there. I've always had large dogs and after my Doberman blew her knee out, I had to lift her to get her to the vet and ended up with sciatica due to it, I bought a dog gurney after that for future use. It has come in very handy many times over for my dogs, my son has borrowed it and a neighbor used it for his large dog. When I got the dobie to the vet that day, they came out to the car with a dog gurney to get her for me and my vet said I should have called, she would have loaned me one to get her there.

Woke with a pounding headache this morning, have had a contractor here since 7 a.m., hammering, sawing, drilling, banging does not help a pounding headache. Contractor is now gone and it's time for another advil and a nap.

i am getting ready to have to go pick up my 7 year old daughter from school and explain to her in the car that we are going to say good-bye to her dog. the dog that has been in this family longer than she has. the dog that she has grown up with and adores. my husband has had this dog 10 years. he is an absolute mess. i dont know if i have ever seen him cry so hard and for so long. it is killing me. it is killing all of us. i just wish we would have had some warning. my dad is going to pay to have him cremated and my mom is going to mix his ashes into paint and paint his portrait for us.

Des, I am so sorry to hear about your dog. Losing a pet is one of the hardest things a family can go through. You'll be in my thoughts.

Not the fun kind of hammering, sawing, drilling and banging that's for sure Okie. And being that the contractor is my sister's husband, the fun kind of hammering, sawing, drilling and banging would just be way too weird plus he's so not my type. lol

i am going to try to put up christmas decorations today and put up the tree tonight to see if that will make us all feel better.

i was going to get my daughter an ash bracelet, but now my husband is saying no. he thinks it is too morbid and setting her up for teasing at school. so i need to put together a little memorial frame for her. i am going to spend the day going through all my old photos online to save any relating to bear and then getting them printed.

I like the memorial frame idea. I hope the Christmas decorations help.
