Hello,
I'm 30 years old and recently engaged. I'm jewish and my fiancee is Christian. I am absolutely terrified when I think of pre-martial counseling and the questions they are going to ask. I don't want them to not accept me because I'm jewish. I go to the church with my fiancee every Wednesday and I do find it very interesting as I do not really follow the jewish religion too much. That being said, I would also like a Rabbi at my wedding with the pastor. My fiancee is aware but I am afraid if I express this during the pre-martial counseling that no one will marry us or convience my fiancee to leave. Any advice?

Hey all, i know its been quite awhile since i posted on here. Its been a summer all right. Its been something else........... You know how they say not to open the can of worms? Well a few months ago i decided to find out what my due date would have been for my first baby, the one conceived by r***. My baby would have been due on March 4th of 2006. They would be 20 years old. I was R**** on June...

Congratulations on your engagement.
Now having said that, there may have been priests who were more liberal and who would have married us without those requirements.
If your husband is a Protestant rather than Catholic, I suspect that his faith may be more liberal than mine. I guess that it depends on the particular sect. E.g., a fundamental sect may actually be stricter.
My personal belief is this. God dose not care what religion you practice as long as you worship him above all. Marriage is a unit under God so therefor NO Religion has any right to tell people they are worthy or not. You follow your heart and as long as you and your husband to be are on the same page. No one else opinion matters. I don't feel they persecute you for anything as that is against Gods teachings.
Best of luck.
My best friend is JW and her husband is Catholic. It created a lot friction between the families, but they found a way to be accepting of each other because they made a commitment to make it work.
I think you should go for it and be open and honest with him.
As a Jewish woman, it would be a great deal of respect to acknowledge everything your ancestors have fought for by asserting your beliefs and carrying on a tradition into your own family.
Be happy, be free. Hugs
