Maintaining a Relationship with Work and College

Hi everyone.
I have been having some problems lately with my relationship. I am a full time college student majoring in social work. I go to college three days a week and I work at my part-time job at Old Navy for three days a week that I am not in school. Well, today my significant other expressed to me that I make no time for us to spend time together and that apparently my college is much more important than our relationship.
We both work, and before this semester of school started for me, I made it clear that I am going to be very busy and we were both fine with it. They made it very clear to me that they are very pissed about my schedule. We both have very different schedules, which makes it hard for us to see each other.
I do not know what to do at this point. I told them that they are very important to me, and so is school. But, not to be rude or anything, I am NOT going to drop out of school for a relationship, and I have to work to pay my bills. Does anyone have any advice?

I have a lot on my plate which is nothing new and I try to cope in many positive ways and do but I still have my moments. My kids more so my daughters talk to me about everything which I know it's cause of comfort and we are close.... however I really struggle with the venting about their dad which...

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Could also be something about them having a problem with your career choice. Maybe you could also talk and try to find out why they are suddenly being this way about you going to college to further your career. Are they jealous or otherwise not approving of you studying to have this career (examples -you will make more money than them, you will be away more with your future career, etc)? If it feels like the right time, maybe also try to have this conversation with them and reassure them that things will only get better and better for you two, by you having this career in the future.
I am guessing they feel neglected, and not liking this recent school change, and so you need to reassure them. And SHOW them how important they are to you. Good luck and have fun on your date nights! :)

Gentle support while you juggle that load and form your own opinions.
At this point in your life, your education IS MORE IMPORTANT than a relationship. Go read some of the posts in this and the 'break-ups and divorce". You will find story after story about women who make the man more important, only to end up stuck in a crappy relationship/marriage (with or without children) because they "can't afford to leave him". Meaning they don't have the education/skill set/work experience to be able to support themselves. These women didn't make the ability to support themselves a priority.
I also agree with arfie - if your guy can't understand the idea of sacrifice for the greater good, he is poor partner material.
Now, that being said, (and I don't know what your guy's idea of "together time" is), perhaps you can find some more time to spend with him.
"Hey, I have to do my laundry and study tonight, but do you want to hang out while I"m folding my laundry. I've got pizza."
Or
"Hey, I've got to run a bunch of errands, you wanna come with me?"
In many successful relationships, quality together time doesn't only mean making out of the sofa while "watching Netflix". It means being in the presence of one another while pursuing each individual pursues their own tasks/needs/etc. If "being together" means "I can't entertain myself, I need you to entertain me", bigger problems are likely on the horizon.
Stick to your guns, study hard, work hard - you will be a success. Best of luck,
Damn right college is more important than spending time with your significant other. Don’t budge on this. You’ll regret it for the rest of your life.
I am juggling a lot of responsibilities right now and I have to do what is best for me and my future. Thanks so much.
You are carving out what you want to do and this is so important moving forward.....
Hopefully if he is the partner that you want to stay with he'll reassess his thoughts about this.... Maybe he just needs some reassurance ….. Big hug....xo
