Their baskets are getting stuffed with kitchen gadgets in anticipation for the day that they leave me (sob, sob, celebrate, sob more, proudly watches adults make own lives, sob, remembers 1st day of preschool, sobs more).
I've thinking of doing one last plastic egg hunt. With empty eggs. Winner to get $20. My kids, who mostly couldn't care less about the chocolate, will draw blood (literally...but in a competitive way) fight to the death to get the most eggs. A yearly tradition that brings out the 5 year old's in each of them. My son is up for it. My daughter's acting like she's got too much dignity for it. We'll see....(evil Parental laugh)
Son mostly enjoying the fact that he'll get holiday pay for working in an empty grocery store in the morning.
***For any parents of younger kids still planning baskets: along with candy, chalk, crayons, paints, matchboxes, stuffed animals, Uno cards, playing cards, small games, play dough, Small play dough accessories, stickers, small books, small packs of raisins, dried or fresh apples, crackers, etc. Sippy cups, new hats, flip flops (literally my daughter's favorite basket present ever), sun glasses, bubbles, etc.
My kids used to come home from preschool with enough candy to feed a small nation.***
Now, more than ever, I will remember and consider this a new beginning. Here's hoping it is the same for you as well.
happy easter! !!
I has someone to talk to...in my shoes.
The problem with drinking your problems away is that you're just adding another problem and nothing gets solved..... Big hug
