I'm so unbelievably upset right now.
My boyfriend and I were watching "Heavy" on A&E and the guy lost 100 lbs in 6 mos, and he was like wow! I said I've lost 128lbs, how come you don't say that about me? And he said he had a trainer and worked hard.
I was floored when he said that, and obviously offended.. I am so upset and in tears right now at what he said that I don't even know what to do with myself. And all I can say is it was ON from there.
I'm a teary mess and I am so disappointed in him right now that I can't even say. He has a habit of opening his mouth before he speaks and he could have said he slept with my best friend and it wouldn't have hurt as much as what he said to me tonight after thinking he was one of my biggest supporters over the last 15 months. He keeps saying he didn't mean it.. but he said it.. you know the saying.. many a true word is spoken in jest. And this wasn't even in jest.. just fucking stupidity. I'm astounded.
I am so umbelievably hurt right now.

We all know how HARD you have worked and we are all so proud of you!! This journey is NOT THE EASY WAY OUT...yet only ignorant people think it is. Keep your head high and know we are here for you.

Do you think he purposefully meant to be insensitive? Perhaps he was just being clueless.
Sometimes it helps if you tell the people you rely on exactly what kind of support you need, what that means, what words to use and if they can't comply ask them to keep quiet.
Unless you really believe he was trying to hurt your feelings (which would be another issue) I would tell him how what he said hurt you and how you need him to be supportive. What that sounds like to you might be different than what he is inclined to say.

I am sure from what you say that there is just TOO MUCH GOOD going on in your relationship to let THIS get in the way!!
