Hi. I'm Nancy...the "old lady" of the garden. Has anyone besides me enjoyed putting small statuary in their gardens? It's fun to have a "themed" garden. Of course, once the perennials start to grow high, some of the small statues have to be moved about, but it does make the garden more interesting and fun to see. I have one garden filled with fairies, elves, gnomes...with a unicorn in the center for the fairies to guard (this one was for my grandchildren). Next, I plan a mini-zoo with tiny animals. I'm thinking SPRING!

I think gardening brings such a sense of peace to a person, it's like you can get lost in your thoughts out there just fussing around with your plants.

I have some indoor plants which I enjoy but I like being outdoors the best. Fortunately I have a nice size area to plant in so it keeps me (happily) busy.

Hi Dixi - I have an Easter Island Head and a harvesting lady, I also like wind chimes and garden dangles. I used to do a lot of sculpting so I do like to see it in gardens along with water features although I've not got a water feature yet.

Hi everybody. I've been gardening for most of my life. Two grandmothers and one grandfather gardened, so I picked it up along the way. My garden has been on the local tour. Which was very flattering but I think I'd rather have a sanctuary than a tourist attraction. My garden is always changing as well as growing in size. It's the place I most like to be, in the months mother nature allows me.

I'm very happy to find this group and I'm looking forward to the coming season and hearing of every one's adventures in the garden.

Hi my name is Ree: I live in an apartment in Brooklyn, NY. I love African Violets and grow them like crazy. I am learning lots from you gals. I also collect old rag dolls, they like the Violets too. Only kidding....

I'm so glad I found this group! I live in Washington state, no not the rainy side! We live in the country at the edge of a big cornfield, with bulls living on one side us us and cows and pigs on the other. We can always tell when we are near by the smell! I'm not much of a gardener but I find it most relaxing to dig in the dirt. I was given some purple iris bulbs - and am enjoying seeing them multiply. They are one plant that I joke that you have to cut them and burn them in order to kill them. That is good for me because I have no green thumb. Last year, I planted 4 each of watermelon, cantelope, tomato, and honeydew melon in smalls pots that I kept at work. I transplanted them at home and watched all but two of them roll over and die. Those two were mowed down by our helpful teenage "hired hand." The only thing I can figure out is that we have ash from when Mount St. Helens blew. I'll try it again this year. I so enjoy being outside and digging in the dirt. I always have at least 3 cats helping me! Again, so happy to have found this site! Sheri

HI my name is Jeanelle...Nell for short. I have been gardening ever since I was old enough to start playing in dirt! LOL My whole family is into gardening and everything I know I learned fro mom and dad and grandma.

This year I am living in an apartment with a yard, but cannot make myself a garden so I will make me a potted garden. That way I can move the pots to wherever they need to go. Plus I have a sun room that gets ALOT OF SUN.

SO I won't be doing as much gardening this year which makes me sad, but I also do alot of houseplants which makes me happy!

Hi everyone, My name is Joyce, I live in North Michigan. We are still in the mist of winter. Snow is starting to leave. I did see a hyacinth peeking out yesterday.
I moved here about 5 years ago and have been slowing trying to establish some flower beds. We grow a vegetable garden in 18 gal totes. They are a combination of hydroponics and earth. The plants get their water from the bottom and they are weed free! Best tomatoes I have ever grown.

Hi I'm Linda and I don't think I intoduced myself when I first came here. Your experience with the cat, Melinda, reminded me of the cat that used to come over when I was out gardening. He too did not leave my side out there in my garden - however he also would follow me into my house and wander around. I always leave my doors open during the day and I'd find him up on my bed in my upstairs bedroom sometimes - too funny. I had two dogs and two cats of my own but he just kind of took over - he was a cute little guy.
