I live just outside philly and have almost no knowledge of how to keep things alive. Too much water, not enough, I don't know. I bought dafodill bulbs last year and plan to plant them this week along the front of the house. I have tried to grow gardens (mostly vegetable) without much success. I would really love if anyone in my general region would reach out to me and help! Like, how deep do these bulbs need to be planted, and so many other questions!

Hi, my name is kim.I am still learning about gardening. my future daughter-in law states that I have a green thumb, (I doubt that, I am just lucky). we have turned our side yard which continues into the back yard,up to the lot line into many different gardens or rooms as I call them. such as secrete garden, there are 6 of them and then the veggie garden across the back of the yard on the lot line.

My two dogs chole, a white sheperd, and yzerman, part hotdog, and pointer. are out thee all day long with me. they discovered green peppers this summer and just walk right into the garden and help them selves. I guess next year we will have to put up some type of fence to keep them out.

everything in my garden but the plants has either been bought at a yard sale, or resale story or even trash picked. the side yard garden was only started this year, but looks as if it had been there for ever. I like to think out of the box. I was able to trash pick a lil tikes play house, it has moss from the woods growing on the roof and the sides have ivy and morning glory growing on it. its under a huge pine tree, all flowers are white, with green and white hostas. i also purchased many tropical plants this summer, they are all in my living room / kitchen . in the picture window I have a small white wicker love seat and chair with many of the plants around them, its like sitting in the garden in the afternoon when the sun is shing. I fear its going to be a long winter, we have snow in the forcast for monday. yuck !!!

hi i,m new to this group,i am called the gardener as my user name as when i joined ds i didn't know what to call myself,so my sister called me the gardener,as i am her gardener,as she can't do it herself,i am not experienced, i just love to garden, my garden is a small shady spot,so i grow mostly shrubs and flowers and herbs.
as i am disabled and havn,t much money, i usually go and get the plants at the garden centres that they haven,t looked after properly, so tey sell them cheap, so it is pot luck at what i get.
once a week i go to a centre for disabled people,this is to help people who are disabled to get back in to work, it is a small woodland garden,we grow organic veg, flowers and herbs, we then sell these.
when i started there four years ago i took over the small court yard herb garden,and have been learning about herbs ever since, i have learned so much, about growing all sorts of things, and now i am doing my nvq 1 in horticultre.

Anyways, hello all, my name is Kim and I just started pot gardening last summer and its been trial and error so far but its going well. We have a big yard, but here in FL its all sand and not easy to grow much. I'm still learning as I go but am enjoying it so far. Hi! My name is Dona and I live in northern Iowa. I have put all my outside gardens to bed for the winter. Now I have a "indoor garden" in my basement. I bring a lot of plants in. pots are sitting on special tables under lights to survive the winter. Just sowed some grass seeds today that hopefully will give me a better yard next summer - Now I can just watch for my garden magazines.

I hate lawns LOL mine are more stepping stones with things like tyme growing between the stones.
I'd rather weed than cut grass!!

My task this summer is to make all the gardens lower maint so I can get away more often ;)

I'll be starting indoor plants starting in January... I find gardening soothing to the soul and very rewarding.

Sorry, hey!! I should get here more. I used to like to garden till I did the nursery. Now it's like the mechanic. His car is always squeeking and sputtering, and always in the need of spark plugs or air in his tires. LOL ever notice that. But at one time my nursery was basicly a perennial nursery. So, I had about 3 acres of just flower gardens. All gone now mostly. Now matted and potted fruit trees and landscape plants.

HI! I'm Karen, I started gardening about 15 years ago when we moved to a rural area and a house. I started with flowers and tomatoes. I had the time and learned where not to plant tomatoes, what plants wilted in the afternoon sun, and how enjoyable having a garden really is. We moved last August, so this Spring will be a learning experience for me. I dug up my favorite mini roses and tomatoes, they survived the move and after 2 weeks rebounded, and am looking forward to having 1/2 an acre to play on.

I will have to do some terracing and above ground preparation, but that's OK. I also have a 2-car detached garage that is used for storage, and part of it is my gardening/potting shed. I'm not sure what the deer will eat, or how much I'll have to prtect the young plants from our wild critters (turkeys, squirrels). I plan to sprout/plant sunflowers, hollyhocks, tomatoes, peppers, daylilies, and some wildflowers.

Hello everyone I am just creating a brand new garden from scratch as moved house early last year. I left a beautiful garden not dissimlar to you group pictures but this new garden is a little smaller. I have started it off already with some plants but this year hope to grow some veg too.

In my new garden, I have lots of birds visiting, even though I also have cats visiting, needless to say I favour the birds. I also have frogs that I'm really glad to see as they will eat the slugs and snails.

In my old garden I left behind a hedgehog that I am quite sad about but being a wild creature he enjoyed my old wild garden, which has really overgrown and got wilder since I left it.

I'm hoping later as I develop my new garden I will get another hedgehog visiting.

In the new garden this winter, I have two male robins visiting, blue tits, blackbirds, sparrows and the occasional dove. I love the birds and wildlife as much as I love the garden.
