Hi I'm Kristie, and this the first year that I've planted a garden. My kids and I planted a small vegetable garden. They really love watching everything grow, and can't wait to eat the watermelons. My garden has become a place of peace for me as well as my kids. This is a wonderful learning experience for me, and I hope after getting advice from everyone here i'll eventually be able to keep flowers alive!!

Hi, I am new at gardening. When I was a teenager yard was a punishment, like having to mow the lawn at 6am hungover from the night before LoL. We bought or house in Fl 4yrs ago, and we are finally able to work on our yard. I am in the really long hot process of working on 3 new flower beds. I must say I love it !!!

Hi, I'm Catstiptoes, also known as Rachel. :0) My boyfriend, our seven-month-old girl and I live in a rental house in a country Australian town of 20000 people. I wrote about our garden a lot in "Garden Inspection". We have a good-sized front, back and side garden with an established apple tree (two types of apples), a new plum tree, two established plum trees, a huge eucalyptus tree (gum tree), flowering vines, native Australian flowering shrubs and trees, banksia roses along our front fence, and a big three-man swing in our front yard. There's a big aviary out back which we plan on putting egg-laying chickens in, but haven't gotten around to yet. We are building up the soil in a new vegie patch with a compost pile at the end of it. We started digging a dead patch of lawn out back for a herb garden, but then the grass started growing beautifully there, so it's green lawn now. We've got a basketball hoop and a barbeque and picnic table on a paved area out the side. We have lots of plants in pots- avocado trees, limes, nectarine, port wine magnolia, succulents, etc, because we are saving for our own property and we'd like to plant these there.
I used to care for my mom's fifty rose bushes around her house in Melbourne, and I love roses. She had a large cottage garden with the most amazing bulb collection I've ever seen on a house-block. I still get bunches of flowers from her garden whenever I see her. Her garden is a "picking garden". I love it there!!!
I also used to care for a garden alongside a trift store (op-shop for us Aussies), with a friend. We got a surprise one year after mother's day when we went to do our garden and all the cyclamens were dug up and gone. :0) At least the thief had good taste! I've moved out of Melbourne two years ago, and I miss my mom's garden and the other one I helped look after.
My boyfriend told me a huge new hardware store with a garden section has opened in town. I'm looking forward to looking around there for interesting plants and/or bargains. :0)
I like to leave every garden I live with, a little better than when I met it.

hi my name is Denise...I live in a very small town in NH. If you saw my lawn you would swear that it is my wildflower garden. I grew up on a farm so my love of gardening comes from that. Growing up we had acres of gardens...including but limited to corn, potatoes, green beans and everything else you can possibly grow. I honestly don't think I had a vegetable out of a can till we stopped farming.

My name is Cassandra. I started renting a little house in town about 2 years ago, and have carte blanche to do as I please with it. I've added some landscaping gardens (hostas, lillies, butterfly bushes, mums and some annual odds and ends) and I've got the bug. I'm really proud of my little yard. Found out I love flower gardening. It makes me feel alive again in the morning to go out and deadhead and pull weeds, and its so relaxing and refreshing after spending all day in an office. This fall I'm going way overboard - I'm going to build a terraced bed on a slope for an herb garden, and add a butterfly garden out front, and I'm also going to rescape a shady part of the yard under a big pine tree, for shade plants, with a hammock and table and chairs. I can get the scaping done, and get the fall perrenials in, and be ready to hit the ground running when the snow melts in spring. I'm also trying to get into the local Master Gardener's program. On top of the classes on gardening, I think I will love doing community service with and for others who love growing things. If I could make a living doing this, I would!

Hello everyone. I am from the .North West of England just north of a town called Warrington. My front garden is long and narrow and it used to be nicely planted but I have neglected it due to ill health. I hope to plant native wild flowers and put a pond in it ready for next year. I have a tiny back garden as I live in a terraced house, but I have started growing vegetables this year with (so far) low results. The back garden also has lots of bird feeders, a little pond and lots of shrubs packed in around the edges for cover for the birds. My youngest child aged ten is an avid birder so I have built a small extension to the shed for him as a bird hide. To be honest I use it more than him as it's pretty cool watching the feeding birds.

I have said many times before I have never met a plant I do not like therefore my intest are so vaaried flowers, herbs,fruit orchards,all kinds of veggies. I especially love heriloom seeds. Hi; just found this group tonight - I love to garden mostly flowers . I have a large corner lot and my back yard is full of 'little gardens'. Was on our towns garden tour couple of years ago. Have something blooming in my garden from spring until snow. gardening is really my salvation anymore. Have a large rose garden. do also have veggie garden just tomatoes this year. love to hear about everyone's' gardens.

Hi, My name is Eily and I live in Ireland. The weather is very even here so I don't have to lift dahlias etc , I can just leave them in. I live on 2 acres and am slowly reclaiming . The property was left for 50 years , so it is pretty wild, lots of trees, thousand of natualized blue bells and daffodils. I have also uncovered 20 hydrangeas, and a few rambling roses. Its fun reworking things that have already been planted so long ago. Someone at sometime put a little love into the garden , which is so pleasing to bring it back to what it was. I love perennials, anything with flower or scent. I plan to tackle a veg. garden next year, but have managed to plant a few fruit trees. I will warn you all I am a terrible speller and a garden fanatic, Ta , Eily

hi! im in heaven finding this site!!! i realized i loved gardening about 10 years ago!! my expertise is annuals, my worst knowledge is in evergreens,,haha..i make it a plan to have one of every annual i can get my hands on in my yard somewhere.. i used to have a vegetable garden (oh i forgot, i cant grow corn for anything,,and i lived in nebraska!!) and i had green beans, peas, peppers, carrots, lettuce, and tomatoes..and i dont like tomatoes. i love doing shade gardens, containers, installing water features, and trees. i finally own my first house and am ready to start perfecting grass..not as easy as im thinking. im in a new zone with new plants, and ive always had fescue. now its bermuda or zoysia, cant tell. there is a brief intro..(you will learn i am never brief)

Hi Everyone! My name says it all, I live in New England so my gardening time is pretty limited. I discovered I had a green thumb when I lived in Boston of and planted my first veggie garden there. I now live in the country on 7 acres. I love raising flowers but growing veggies and then preserving them (in various manners) and giving stuff away is my passion.
