Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

I just joined the group today. I've been part of the Gastric bypass group for a couple years now and been on DS since 2007. I had Gastric bypass in 2009 and I will still say that it's the best thing I've done health wise. But it is only a tool and doesn't heal the underlying issue, which is my food addiction. I've been an overeater my whole life but am unable to do that now with the surgery, but I still have that mental issue with food. I was recently put on Topamax for the addiction and Phentermine to help with the appetite, which is all mental anyway. I'm hoping to find some support here and am considering joining overeaters anonymous. I have used food as a crutch and have hidden food since I was in elementary school. My parents raised me the best way they knew, but I feel that it only hindered my addiction. I was not allowed to make my own food choices and when I was not being supervised around food I would binge and over do it. These are things that I've always knew were issues but I am just now starting to come face to face with the fact that I have this addiction.

Hello! Reading your post was like reading my own. I have had lapband surgery but like you said it is just a tool and I still struggle every day. I go to bed thinking about food and wake up thinking about it. I can tell you calorie content in pretty much anything. Food and everything associated with it is like a running loop through my head 24/7. I have considered overeaters anonymous too but feel dumb going alone and feeling like why can't I get this under control. Tell me more about the meds you are taking, are they helpful?

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
