Good morning-etc.! Slept awful, this silly flu has me achy, and today is Move-In at the local uni. What does that mean? HIDE! Hide! Until at least TUesday.... So that's my weekend plan. Woot. Rest, fluids, and avoid the two big roads, b/c it's bumper-to-bumper-to-bumper for *miles* on Move-In Weekend. And that's with the big road closed to local traffic. Our area's population increases by about 50 percent when the students are around. Ironic that summer is our quietest season, given the tourist factor, but there it is....
OK, I truly do feel too awful to function much, but I wanted to make sure we had a start on our weekend gathering of Fibro Warriors:-) Prayers and healing to everyone (and their pets)...

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

SugarBear: Ninety days of fever? Yikes, that sounds really awful. I hope you'll also have a nice weekend, and that you'll get to be less plagued by all your health problems soon.
Gail: Wow, another one of our fibro friends that's having it extra tough right now. I'm sorry to hear that, though your husband sounds like great support to have! It says a lot about you that you'd offer yourself as support for people in times like that. :) Thank you for the hug today!
Twinmom: I know what you mean about hating certain things you still love at the same time, just because of the pain. For day trips, I bring my wheelchair. It means I can switch out walking and sitting and mostly means I don't have to spend a moment longer standing than I want or have to. I hope you'll have a great time, pain notwithstanding.
Mtnfibroguy: I'm glad your nausea problems are under better control. It's such a drain on quality of life. I hope the tweaking that your doctor is doing to your meds will turn out for the better. On laptop there's a way to make the text box bigger, but I have no idea if the same option exists for phone or tablets. Have a nice day!
Bobbii: You say your busy week has ended and run off at the end to do more paperwork on a Saturday! You're very hard-working. I very much recognize what you say about touch sensitivity increasing with flares. Yesterday and the day before I was flaring in my hips, and I could have anything touch my pelvic area skin. Had to resort to interesting clothing choices to compensate, haha.
Idajoy: There's nothing wrong with setting personal goals. I hope you'll get that puppy. A dog is always a great way to get gentle exercise through all the daily walks! Have a great time at your son's!
Frankie: Welcome to check-in! Pull up a digital chair. I'm sorry to hear you had such a rough week. But hooray for cookies! I think it's always wise to divvy some of our limited energy into doing enjoyable things as well. Cookies seems like a great way to do that. I hope you have fun at your friend's birthday. I can very much relate to feeling drained from social interactions. Enjoy your weekend!
Kel: Glad to hear Spartacus is doing well. One of my cats got an infection in her surgical wound post-sterilisation. By the end of a week of forcing antibiotics down her throat, she was actually eating them willingly when we put the pill in front of her! Knowing, of course, that one yucky pill would net her about five treats right after. I hope you'll continue to feel better every day! Pain can make one appreciate the small differences.
AngelaJo: That sounds like a very nice friend that you made that can help take some of the load off when you're in need of rest! Though it can be frustrating to accept help. Sorry to hear about all your pulmonary woes. I hope you feel better son!
Preciousbabygirl: Ah, the psych intakes and evals. For people considered to be mentally struggling, it's such a taxing process. Since dealing with my own healthcare stuff, I've been very clear that I don't want a man anything - GPs, psychologists, physical therapists (no offence to male group members! There's a difference between friendship and medical/mental vulnerability!). Any reason you couldn't request a different counsellor? There wouldn't be much point in trying to access how you're truly doing if the one that's asking is negatively affecting you. Best of luck!
BlueSky: Soreness can often be worse on the second day, with all the stiffness piling on. I'm sorry you have to deal with that. Fibro patients and falling, oh joy. It sounds like yesterday was rather frustrating for you. To be honest, I get a bit sour when people try to push me into things that I've already stated I don't want to do. Why do they think I'm saying no, because I so enjoy the social awkwardness of disappointing people? No, I don't want to go. I hope you'll get to enjoy the race and car show this evening!
That's a bookwork of responses!
I'm managing. My parents will leave for a 3-week vacation within the week! *dances a crippled little jig* We'd love to have some space to just the two of us again. It does mean I'm spending this weekend going shopping with them, so that they can help with all the heavy groceries for the time they're away.
Hello to everyone here and lurking, have a nice weekend!
You're exactly right about people getting pushy. I read the look on her face when she gave the long pause and I knew what was coming next. It's as if she was thinking, "Well you don't look THAT hurt to me, so what's wrong with a little party?" But she doesn't understand last week and this week I've been running around with back to back appts Mon - Fri (and the same will repeat this coming week). Then I had the crazy back spasms Sunday and then fell 2 days in row from exhaustion. I've been pushing myself way too hard. I just wanted ONE day to stay home & rest. Why can't the world understand these things? I should have turned off my phone yesterday. Seriously. Next time I need to a day to myself, it's OFF.
It's insane to me how this town has to shut down on big uni weekends. Good grief. Hubby had to drop offpapers for work, at a location ten miles from our house. It took him three hours to get there and back. I'm aware the uni is why we have jobs, but wow, the traffic!
OK, why is everyone not obeying Thursday's therapy and taking their fifteen minutes? *shakes finger of admonishment* Even God took a day off, y'know! *looks over reading glasses* Don't make me channel my Polish grandma and feed y'all soup until you slosh.... Well, virtual soup and electronic slosh, I guess;-)
I am in so much pain i cant deal with it. I am ready to cry :( I see my neurologist and my reg doctor tomorrow morning. I just cant take this pain!!!!! I am going to call my dad after a bit and have him come get abby my dog, shes very snuggly and sweet when im in pain even but i just cant walk her, i just did and i was in tears doing it :(. Had a good time with my new friend yesterday that lives above me, we were going to do laundry together but she took over and did mine for me! She said she could see the pain im in. She said anytime i need help just call her because i can not do the stairs. its going to be a stay in bed or in the lazy boy day. I have to at some point do dishes they added up from yesterday not doing them and ugh i just want to cry thinking about it!
ida, have a safe drive to your sons today. I hope you don't overdo it this week and you can get some sleep on the couch. I will donate to your puppy fund. Seriously! Every little bit adds up. ;-)
Frankie, I'm glad you joined check-in today. I hope you had some fun at the party last night. I would rather stay home. I hate being around normal people anymore. (I hate saying that.) I hope you are doing well today.
Kel, thanks, I'm glad your dog isn't in much pain and your flare is slightly down. I hope today gets even better.
Angela, I'm sorry about the bad news from the pulmonary test. Don't listen to your mother. It's not a beauty contest, it's about staying alive and living a more comfortable life. It's not your fault o2 is needed. big hugs and so glad you found such a nice person that lives by you.
Precious, my daughter just had a 6 hour psych eval last week. She is autistic and I was amazed they didn't break the evaluation up for a child that young, she is 6 yrs old. It broke my heart to see her go through that. I know it was much easier than yours and they play with children to learn about them too, but still, I feel for you! Big hugs and much support.
Blue, I think the Maui zoo sounds wonderful. I will hold you to that if I ever travel that far. :-) Thanks! I hope your mom starts to feel better mentally and physically. I'm glad she has you, even if just to talk on the phone. I can't believe your friend came over and pretty much begged you to go. I guess her heart was probably in the right place and she just wanted to include you. People just don't understand.
I'll have to come back later and see who I missed. I'm getting us ready for church, the girls don't want to go, b/c daddy doesn't have to go. This is really upsetting me.
Leo, does that mean your fever broke? Glad you're feeling better! Yay!
Angela, I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I hope your dad gets your dog for you and you can snuggle the pain away. healing hugs...
Twin, that's a tough situation. Do the girls understand why he doesn't go? When I was little I understood that my dad prayed to someone else other than Jesus and read a different book other than the Bible. I wasn't happy about it, but understood. If you haven't already, you might have to talk to them and pray they stay hungry for the Lord. I will keep you in my prayers.
We went to the car show and race last night. The car show was smaller than I had imagined. Probably because all the hot cars were on the other side of the track in and out of the race. There were 2 small brush fires burning close by and the air was a little smokey. When the sun set you could see the orange glowing flames. The MC announced over the mic that he hoped they wouldn't close the roads down. It was quite windy and I think it was fueling the fires. The wind gave me a little chill after the sun set. They ran the timed sets 1st and we tried to hang in there for the drag race (where they compete against each other around the track), but they were running an hour behind schedule. The costo was acting up and my ribs were burning. So we decided to call it a night. The lady sitting next to us was bummed we had to leave before the good part started. Oh well. We'll try again next month. But it was fun watching classics try to time against modern race cars. There was a husband and wife who timed against each other a few times. LOL. That was fun to watch, too.
I asked my husband to take me to the beach today. His semester picks up tomorrow, yup, back to work he goes (so glad we don't live right by the university). So why not have a beach day? He said it sounds like a plan. I have acupuncture tomorrow.
Hope you have a good week, everyone.
You guys all take care. I'll talk with you more tomorrow.
Ida - Count me in on the puppy fund! I think you should have one sooner than later too!
Leo - Glad to see that you are starting to feel better.
I'm glad to see so many people checking in between yesterday and today. I just don't have the energy to respond to everyone. Waiting to hear if my youngest niece passed her driving test today. Nap time and/or a movie while laundry is working. Peace out!
