Good morning-etc.! Slept awful, this silly flu has me achy, and today is Move-In at the local uni. What does that mean? HIDE! Hide! Until at least TUesday.... So that's my weekend plan. Woot. Rest, fluids, and avoid the two big roads, b/c it's bumper-to-bumper-to-bumper for *miles* on Move-In Weekend. And that's with the big road closed to local traffic. Our area's population increases by about 50 percent when the students are around. Ironic that summer is our quietest season, given the tourist factor, but there it is....
OK, I truly do feel too awful to function much, but I wanted to make sure we had a start on our weekend gathering of Fibro Warriors:-) Prayers and healing to everyone (and their pets)...

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...
As for me, I have been hiding out or better stated back in hibernation again as I just finished my only social event of the year (campmeeting) last weekend & after two weeks of it I had to go into recovery mode. In addition I am still dealing the the fever stuff. If I have a fever today it will be day #90 & since I live in the same part of the world that you do you can just imagine how the hot weather is not helping when you have fever.
To everyone, howdy. The old bear is still kicking but at a very reduced level. Best to all of you this weekend. If anyone needs me you can find me at the Hermit Hotel.
Leo knows my staus. Bad to worst. I am struggling right now with severe neuro, gastro, lupus and a very complicated form of MCTD. I have been bed bond for weeks with weekly visits to the PCP, Gastro tests, xrays, and my brand new Rheumatologist. I have an awesome husband that treats me like a queen! My new doctor team has been working with me to get me back up and running. I have hope and a good support team here in the DFW area, here on DS and at home.
If I can help you guys in anyway, please let me know. I will do what I can for now. I will be better soon and then I can really help! Like you two, I will be out of order with my sign that says Out of Order for now until I get fixed. Hang in there you all! You are in my prayers. To all you others, you are not alone with your health issues. We are here to help in anyway we can. For me, I'll give you all the moral support in the world. Let's fight this! Gail
Gail, I know, and I'm keeping the candles of hope lit for you:-)
Now returning to our regularly scheduled nap... *zzzzzzzz*
Leo, the flu is so hard to manage with fibro and other ailments. I sure hope you get all the fluid and rest you need right now. How is your mom after a few days of radiation? Prayers for you both!
sugarbear, I'm glad you checked in today. I hate that you are in so much pain, but I am very glad that you got to participate in the event this year despite the fevers. Did your doctor do an ANA blood test at your last visit?
Gail, I'm so glad to see you at check in today. Thanks for my hug, you are the best! I'm sorry you are suffering so much with so many disorders. I'm so happy to hear that your husband treats you like a queen. I'm am praying for you!
It's 71 degrees outside right now and the high is only going to reach 82. We are about to pack up for the zoo. I have lunches made and waters ready. I love and hate the zoo. It's always been one of my favorite places to take my nieces and nephews when they were little, but it is such a struggle to walk it now with my girls. Wish me luck, I will be in pain, heck I'm in pain now. I will be in more pain. Hugs to everyone.
I hope everyone has the best weekend possible.
Sure wish there were a reasonable way to proof read what I just typed...
Hope everyone has a good day.
Sugar bear, so glad to see you check in. If I remember correctly, camp meeting is a time for you to visit with family too. Did you get to enjoy it? I have had fevers off and on as well but the doctor doesn't seem concerned despite the fact that it is ongoing but low grade. I don't know how high yours gets but I generally run low so even a mild fever is up a few degrees for me.
Gail, so sorry you're having to deal with so much! Your spirit seems good and that goes a long ways toward healing.
Twinmom, yikes the zoo?! I used to love it too but that's a lot of walking for me and it causes terrible rib and back pain. I know it's worth it to see the girls smile. You absolutely deserve a quiet rest when you get home.
My busy busy week has ended. Hopefully that's all the reviews I need to do. They took a huge chunk of time. Now I need to finish my son's school planning and get my upcoming seminars written. Geez. I just want to set and knit and read.
My ribs and back are in a flare. Last night was a rough night. Absolutely nothing helps them to feel better. When I have this much rib pain I also have increased pain elsewhere and very sensitive to touch.
I'm off to do more paperwork. Ugh.
Bear, good to see you. Glad you ventured out of your cave to give us a hello. Maybe go to the doctor and ask for more tests, like was suggested. Take care.
Gail, sorry you have so many ailments. I hope there is a doctor out there who can help you. Thanks for your positive attitude.
I hope the zoo goes well for you today, twinmom. You deserve a nice weekend. Take care.
I am pretty well packed for my upcoming week at my son's. We are leaving right after church tomorrow. I found out I don't have to drive. Hubby is going to drop me off on his way to Indiana.
Blue, thanks for the ideas for getting money for my puppy. My hubby would croak if I started a go fund me page. So far I have saved my birthday money and money I've made on my silver whatever credit card. I'm at $77, and need to hit $300 for the down payment. I am not giving up on a Spring puppy. I pray hubby relents. He wants to get all our bills paid off. A noble feat, but who ever all has their bills paid off? Ugh.
Later guys.....
I'm sorry to hear about your ongoing struggles with the flu. I think your hide idea will be great for a flu cure as well as to avoid the general insanity. We're a college town here too and have a huge increase in population this time of year. Let the games begin!
Sugarbear,
Hopefully you'll find some relief from your pain/fever soon!
Gail,
Thanks for your positive message and offer of support! You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
Twinmom,
Try to not overdo it at the zoo today. I know that can be easier said than done sometimes. Hopefully you'll get some R&R time this weekend.
Mtnfibroguy,
Glad to hear that your infection is backing off. Always nice to take steps forward!
Feeling a little better dveryday here. Still experiencing a FFF here....well maybe more like a fff now. :-). Spartacus came home like a zombie from the vet yesterday. This morning he is wound up tighter than a drum. I laughed when reading the instructions from the vet ...... Keep a 9 month old dachund from running and jumping??? Yeah right! Anyway, he seems to be in little or no pain.
Hoping everyone has a low pain Sat!
Kel
There seems to be a lot of flaring going around lately! Sending healing vibes your way.
Ida,
Hoping you find a way to get your pup. I like Blues idea and would be willing to pitch in if that would help.
Frankie,
Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better as you move into the weekend! Have fun at the party tonight!
I go in for psychological testing to see where I'm at on the spectrum next month. They are 3 2 hour sessions of q/a sooooo not looking forward to it. Me in a little room with a man for 2 hours? Someone shoot me!
I've read everyone's posts and will respond shortly. Healing thoughts and prayers to everyone having a FFF and / or sick and in pain.
Oh no, I just saw the internet glitch off and on again... I'm hoping this will post.
Leo, if there's one thing I avoid it's piled up traffic jams. Maybe your flu is a blessing in disguise... to force you to have that break that's been long overdue. Our bodies can be funny like that. Although, it would be nice to have an enjoyable break, not a miserable, sick one, huh? Healing vibes....
Feeling more sore today than yesterday. I don't find a whole lot of "bad" bruising from the 2 falls, just a bunch of little ones everywhere. But I hurt in many places like there is deep bruising, but no bruise found? I don't know what to make of it. I wonder if I'll be able to make it to the race and car show this evening?
I feel like a fool for not making it to the pool yesterday. A lot of distractions. Some laundry, my husband kept asking me to come help him figure out what to do about this or that with the catio (which meant getting up AGAIN and walking out to the porch AGAIN), my mom kept calling to pour out her emotional frenzy (she's sick with a hernia). Then a friend asked if I was going to the pastor's daughter's birthday party, I said no, so she asked if she could stop by to say hello on the way. I said sure. Turned out she really wanted to say hi to my cats and also...... asked me why I wasn't coming and I told her I had a busy week, I'm exhausted, fell a couple times, etc, just needed a day to stay home. I guess she didn't believe me, because after a long pause, she tried convincing me to come to the party "just stop by for a short little bit and say hi to everyone..." (facepalm). Stopping in for a short bit doesn't exist at a party. Everyone wants to socialize with you and they all want to feed you. And if they have games, you get roped in, too! You end up staying there for at least a couple of hours. Anyway, a party is the last place you want to be when you feel like poo.
Btw, she said she couldn't eat my fruit stew the other day, that is was too "exotic". She said, "Please don't be made at me, but I gave it to someone else I knew liked it...". I couldn't help but laugh. The stew, in MY opinion, was one of the mildest tasting things of the Indonesian dishes. Some fruit, plantains (cooking bananas), sweet potatoes, and coconut milk. Exotic?? Ba ha ha! I told her, of course I'm not mad. After she left and I told my husband what she said, we both laughed, and he's lived in VA Beach his whole life.
Back in a little...
Gail, sorry you're dealing with so much. Hoping step by step you make a recovery so you can get pieces of your life back. High five your awesome husband for me!
Twin, I hope the zoo is going well for you today and your pain is not going up and up. I wouldn't be able to handle that walking around either. I don't remember the last time I've been to the zoo. I wanted to go the Honolulu zoo before leaving Oahu, but was too busy. Maui doesn't have one, they have a little aquarium, though, that we've visited. If you ever come out to Maui, I'll take you.
Mtnfibroguy, glad your infection symptoms are just about gone. That's awesome news!
Bobbii, all that paperwork. I've always been terrible at admin stuff. Good luck tackling all of it and hope your back and ribs feel better soon.
Ida, I'm glad you don't have to drive. Well, go fund me will always be there if you decide to change your mind. Maybe you can talk hubby into giving the ok, who knows? Because you have solid reasons: you are often home alone and you are in pain all the time. If you talk to your husband and explain it on the go fund me page, people will be more than happy to help you get the dog you need. I'm sure of it.
Hello there, Frankie. Thank you for joining the check in! I understand about social groups and parties. I just passed on a birthday party yesterday. lol. Good for you for keeping a routine of stretching and things. I need to get back into taking walks and swimming too.
Kel, glad your FFF is now shrinking to a fff. lol. Good luck keeping Sparty still. I have no idea how you will do that. When Spike and his brother Miko were fixed (felines), Miko was a little terror. I don't even remember what / if I tried to do anything about it.
Angela, do you take any sleep aids? Or anything OTC?
Precious, oooo.... that testing doesn't sound very fun. I had a neuro-psych test done one time that lasted about a few hours a day for 3 or 4 days. So tiring. Sending you energy!
Have a blessed weekend...
