Well, Hurricane Florence took a left turn, apparently. Actually, she slowed, hwich changed what weather patterns on th econtinent would affect her path, and now... Look out Carolinas and Georgia, but Virginia will only catch a *little* rain. Like, a little little. Like pfft. Like whatever. Like *yawn*.
Here's the NOAA maps as of this morning. Veryd iff from 12 hours ago even. https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/refresh/graphics_at1+shtml/085212.shtml?key_messages#contents
That said, of course, 1. stay prepared and 2. things change. If you're anywhere near North Carolina, eyes on the weather, and if you're anywhere from the Adirondacks to Atlanta, Georgia (as I said before), watch the rainfall and wind forecasts. Looks now like Flo will fizzle out right around northern Georgia-ish. Glad this time of year is when people aren't on the Appalachian Trail, but damn. Gonna be a bad time to vacay in teh Great Smokies.

Now, that said, I could still "vanish" b/c the rain around here is just ridiculous. Every day. So we're one gusty storm from having trees fall over b/c the ground's so wet. Oh yay.

And because I was supervised by critters yesterday... Heroic pet animals! Cheers, all

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...
I've had a rheumatologist diagnose me with fibro saying it's because of your drop in estrogen. He was convinced of it. But a nice guy, just not good science, or any science for that matter.
Back in 2000, I've had a rheumatologist who trained at Johns Hopkins when they did the tender point research (she was part of that team) tell me that because of a high ANA (which happens to normals) and a few minor and exaggerated (to me) signs, I had an autoimmune disorder (but all labs were negative) and she put me on Plaquenil and of course, that didn't do a thing for pain-fatigue so she wanted me on methotrexate, a cancer drug. I said, no, just fill out the disability form (she was good at that).
A fill in nurse practitioner gave me an RX for amyltriptalline (can't begin to spell that but I think it's Elavil) a tricyclic that turned out to be quite useful except for the side effects. This all was years ago, the NP and MDs. A license doesn't mean uniform quality of practitioner, by any means.
The main thing though is to get diagnosed. And treated.
I have more energy than usual. A back to fall, mammalian, get the food in storage quickly response to the waning light? Or because of sleeping more? Dunno.
Do regular over the counter TENs units work well or is that Quell device the best?
Hope y'all are prepared for the rest of the coming week. Take care, take shelter.
We lost power and water this morning just after my post and finally is restored now! Yay! About time. Hubby located a generator on property (landlord is out of town again) and was about to hook it up lol. Horse therapy is cancelled for tomorrow due to heavy rains in the forecast.
Read your posts. Back to my studies now (haven't been able to log on to the college website all day).
I've talked about Quell before. I have one and really like it.
You wear it around your leg calf. The pulse it emits can be adjusted to different levels for user comfort. They just came out with a new, lighter version. It has a 60 day money back guarantee. Designed by MIT nerds.
