Good morning! I've been up since 4 AM! Dixie won't stop ywoling as if she's in hell, but she's in fact in a 1800sf house, which is a pretty good step up from a damn shelter cage, but hey, what do I know? She wants to go, and I can't sleep through the yow-ow-owls, so... Here I am. Comatose and hating it.
So I decided today's motto is "TOO TIRED FOR THIS". And walk away. (Or limp!) Say it with a snooty accent, French or British. "I am too tired for this, I will leave now..."

Today, Queen Marie Antoinette, wife of Louis XVI of France, literally lost her head. The guillotine claimed another victim during yet another iteration of the French Revolution, this one in 1793. She was convicte dof treason. This isn't uncommon with queens (ask Anne Boleyn!) but usually it's for adultery or inconveniencing the *king*. Not typicaly crimes against the people of the nation.
In 1941, the German-Romanian occupying forces took Odessa (USSR) and began killing its Jewish population. Due to rural Jews relocating to Odessa, ultimately the population of Jews killed (starting October 16 and ending over a week later) was much larger than prior to the war. By October 23, 1941, it's believed up to 15,000 Jews ("hostages") had been killed. After the war, mass graves showed about 22K bodies. Ultimately, it's unknown how many were killed in the Odessa massacre, as it's known, but by the end of 1942, Odessa was virtually emptied of Jewish population, and the deaths were gruesome. Some died when herded to barracks, wherein holes were made in walls for machine guns to shoot the people crammed inside, and the floor was soaked with gasoline, and the building set afire. Yep. Then tere were the ones evicted to suffer the winter weather of 1941-42 (freezing to death), and others were shot to death en masse, and so forth and so on. Ukraine's Holocaust did not have the "elegance" of Auschwitz (to use Nazi leader Adolf Eichmann's own term for the efficiency he helped create)...
Oddly, one of the chief perpetrators was a general-politician named Ion Antonescu (John Anthony in English), who preferred to rob the Jews than to kill them, or at least rob them first and foremost. He also spared the lives of many Jews living in southern Romania, and like others in the Romanian regime of WOrld War 2, he balked at the "Final Solution" of concentration camps. Nonetheless, his part in the Holocaust led to his execution after WW2, and has since become a quasi-hero of Romanian nationalism and anti-Sovietism and white supremacy.

Well, our drought isn't broken but our gutter is. Got two big storms rigth after each other and, wait for it, a tornado warning. Now, I was already running for my go-bag when I heard thunder. The air felt wrong. The sky was getting a color to the west. Been there, lived that, time to hide.No funnel touched down but the radar indicated rotation, and boy was it visible from the ground. Different...

My cat is going on trial for crimes against skink-anity. SIX in six weeks. Three this last week alone. The crack is maybe 1/4 inche wide. Maybe. Skink skitters past, her paw shoots out, her claw hooks in, she yanks, and somehow, having defied physics... WHAM. Skink-o-rama.Now, don't get me wrong, it's nice that she's a pesticidal maniac, but OMG. Skinks do no harm. They don't come inside. WTF.So,...
I spent part of the day outside with my helper. The roses are now winterized. We ended up wrapping two of them in burlap. One to provide more shelter from the wind and the other because it isn't doing well. This is my third try with the latter rose variety. If it doesn't come back in the spring looking more promising, I'm done. I will uproot it and pick something new (again.)
Blue - I vote attorney too. He bullies you constantly whether it is over living arrangements, your health issues, helping around the house etc. A total lack of respect. Mocking is not OK. He always.says he is sorry and then starts all over again a couple of months later. You deserve better. Hugs!
AngelaJo - I was thinking about your problem with Jim not understanding your trust issues. I think we were all very certain that he was severely depressed when he said that he didn't want to be your sponsor any more. He might not remember with any degree of accuracy what he was saying or doing during that time period. And if he does, he might be really embarrassed by what he might perceive as weakness. Just food for thought. I could be off base but I wanted to throw that out there..
I'm just exhausted. Waves at everyone and a Hello to Bear! See you all tomorrow!
