So it showed me it posted, then it wasn't here when I came back.
Short version: HAPPY HUMP DAY! Halfway to Friday!
Spouse and I are in holding pattern. I hold that I'm too tired to get upset and deal with it, and he holds that he's "not where he wants to be in life". That's nice. Who is? I mean, c'mon. What I imagined when I was 20 isn't where I am now, so what? Dreams change, lives change, things change, roll with it or get rolled over (bad translation of a saying my grandfather used). It's not *easy*, but it's how you keep going without flipping the heck out and... I dunno...

So on this date in history (again)
In 1881, in David H. Houston patented the first camera roll of film. This sounds small, but before that, it was plates and such, ratehr like we see in X-rays up until about 10 years ago. Film on a roll? Oh, that made life easier.
In 1890, the Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in Washington DC. If you are descended, provably so, from a Revolutionary War soldier, then you get to belong. Some use it for social cachet. Eh. I can prove it, but why belong? Tea and cookies aren't my speed, and sneering down at others for their "newness" of ancestry is just silly to me, soooo.... That's what it was back home, anyway. Meh.
In 1983, the last hand-cranked telephones went out of service in the US, when the 440 people of Bryant Pond, Maine, switched to direct-dial. Yep, hand-cranked.

Hapy birthday to the late great Eleanor Roosevelt (born 1883)!

And I'm outta here to... well, I dunno, but I'll figure it out.:-)
Hugs and extra hugs to each and every one of you.

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

I slept well last night (pretty sure I was at the point where my body didn't have a choice in the matter) but I'm still very sore. My lower back hates me, maybe from the plane ride. All my critters have been really cuddly since I brought them home. Today I have a little cleaning to do, and I badly need to go food shopping, so once I make breakfast and shower I'll have to do that.
I read everyone's comments yesterday. Thank you Milly for your input from a nurses perspective. That makes me feel better that I'm not being dramatic if I do go to the ER. Thank Blue and Leo for your hugs and caring too. It is nice to have the support.
So the plan is that I'm waiting till 9:30 to hear back from my doctor. If I don't hear back I'm calling again. If I don't hear back after that by 11 I'm likely going to go to the ER. The hospital that is closer here to my work is a better hospital than the one by home anyway. When I got a return call from his office last night it was a nurse to say he wasn't in yesterday and that the doctor in wanted me to stop the steroids if they weren't helping and they would give him the message this morning. Never mind the whole breathing thing. I love my doctor but the nurses at his office are horrible about getting the point of a phone message and conveying it properly to the doctor. I do have to say, in office the nurses are great though so who knows, maybe I stink at leaving a message. My chest is so inflamed and hurts so bad that I can't talk, feel like I'm trying to breathe rainforest jungle air and have a hippo sitting on me so not the best combo.
Have a wonderful, calm, quiet day everyone. I'll check in as I can...
I agree with you on the need to change, roll with the punches, go with the flow. It can be difficult at times but it's something that we all have to do. I'm confident that you and your Hubby will work things out. Happy half way to Friday to you too!
Well, I went and had Tweak put down after work yesterday. He is in a better place now, but will be and already has been missed :-(. Also, my Sis's brain is slowly creeping back but she is in very rough shape physically. They are looking into long-term nursing home type care now. That will shake up all kinds of stuff....including my bro in law looking for a place to live. He has a lot of physical problems himself and doesn't drive. In other words, just like my Mom. I don't know that Gin and I have the money/time/energy to take care of another person...but we have a lot of trouble saying no. All of this stuff is causing the worst flare that I've had in awhile. Well, gotta go with the flow, huh?
It'll all work out...I promise to be cheerier tomorrow,
Kel
My back usually hurts worse in the morning if I sleep well. Kind of a much needed tradeoff sometimes though! I hope it feels better as the day goes on!
Maynard,
Good luck at the doc today! I'm sure they'll find a way to make you feel better.
Leo, sometimes a holding pattern is the best option. For now. Maybe he spouted off out loud and was frustrated. Yeah, life is never what we expect. Regardless, it isn't kind to you, so he needs to get over it and apologize.
Miki, I'm sure your back will heal with time. Rest and maybe some heat. Your babies missed you!
Maynard, that's a little scary about not breathing. Go in. It sounds serious and may be more than just a reaction. When you can't talk, important sign that you need help. Please keep us up to date.
I'm trying to avoid today. I'm so tired and hurting.
Yesterday, I made my husband an apple pie with a new recipe for the crust and it turned out amazing. I used leaf lard (pig lard, new to me and something I bought at a festival while we were on our trip) and vodka. The combo of those two made the flakiest, tastiest crust I've ever made.
I'm finding myself so exhausted, I'm sleeping half the day away. I just hope my body is doing some healing during that time.
Good wishes to all who follow. I'm off to bible study.
I've done a lot of cooking with Vodka...I usually can't remember what I was trying to cook when I wake up though. :-) Hope you find some time to get that rest and healing in today.
I'll talk to you all later.
Ida, fingers crossed for you. I've had crown issues.
Angela, okay, that's it, we're wrapping you in bubble wrap.
Bobbii, that's how my grandma made pie crusts. It is incredible, I'm told. I never did go lard.
Miki, glad you rested, hope your back eases!
Maynard, go go go! Breathing is vital.
I forgot someone, I know, I'm sorry. I got a whole half-hour nap and woek up all fugly feeling. The flu shot went okay, but I woke up feeling, yep, a touch flu-ish. Argh!
Leo, ya know, growing up I had big plans. I had plans when I was 8, that I would see my name in the movie credits for doing hair/makeup. Then when I wrecked my wrist, I had plans to become a renowned beauty instructor, then my plans changed and I was going to grab a hold of my career in customer service and tackle the corporate world. And then you know what? I got pregnant when I wasn't supposed to be able to. And during that pregnancy I realized God's plans for me were greater than anything else I was dreaming up on my own. So I let go of the reins. And my true happiness has been here with no dreams at all. Sure, I have goals. Some I meet, some I don't. But boy-o-boy do I "love" what God had in store for me. And for once in my life, I feel content and peaceful.
I don't think guys catch onto that too easily. I think they have a goal driven microscopic part of their brain that is wired to be better, be the bread winner, have a (fill in the blank) by age (fil in the blank). They are wired to protect and lead. And when they wake up one day and realize that didn't happen, that little microscopic part of their brain goes haywire on them. And they start searching for something, as quickly as they can. Meanwhile they utter out the most idiotic things. And some do some really stupid stuff. And then they realize what they were searching for was right before their eyes. Many, sadly had let that go and will never be lucky enough to find it again.
I think you are wise to just let his brain cycle this out somehow. They put up with us when our brains get all messed up with hormones. And while I know men get their crankies also....I just think this is the for better or worse part. It's moments like this that I see why our vows use the word "worse" in it vs any other word. It leaves it open ended for the deep amount of trouble we often find ourselves in.
So, until he comes around, keep feeding that man pie and you keep sipping away at that hot chocolate.
Miki...extra cuddly animals? Sounds like heaven. And I'm glad you got some sleep finally.
Maynard, I sure hope you head into the doc/ER today. I've been struggling with the heavy crud lately too. And I'm sucking on my inhaler more than I like to. But it's works for a few hours at least. We took our youngest in as our oldest did end up with strep. And the doc kinda spooked me when she said she thought we should check him for influenza. Thankfully that test came back negative. Praying you get some relief soon.
Kel, oh wow, my heart is just breaking for you. I'm so sorry you had to put Tweak down. Pudge and Izzy send their loves to you and Gin. And the news about your sis too, I can see why you are in a flare. I wish I could someone lessen the burden for you guys. I'm glad to hear some good news about your sister kinda making a comeback. Slivers of hope. Will she ever be able to return to take care of her husband or do you think this is just going to be a new way of life for them?
Bobbii, growing up my mom's recipe for pie crust always contained lard. Nowdays it's almost hard to find it. But it does truly make the flakiest pie dough. I often wonder the same when I'm so tired and then sleep often. Praying there is healing for you.
Ida, I'm so sorry you're struggling with that temp crown. I hope you get it taken care of today. Even a minor change can trigger my jaw to lock up on me for a few days.
Hope you enjoy your bible study today too.
Angela, you poor thing, we can't let you go anywhere can we? I hope you can rest up after that tumble. BTW, I did that on my first date ever with a guy. We were walking into the restaurant for dinner and I slipped and fell onto the rocks. I could feel blood trickling down my leg and it was trembling in pain. But I didn't want my first date to be in the ER. When I go home, I was missing a part of my knee. Huge gauge. My pants were stuck to my leg as the blood had dried. I cried when I finally took them off. Long story short....my knee too longer to heal than our dating history. Bad kisser. And his name was the same as my sisters and best friends and it drove my mom nuts having to ask "who" I'm really hanging out with. LOL. How many first dates end up with a scar?
Okay folks....we SOLD! Extended closing date (March 9th or sooner). We're in toss out the stuff we're not taking with us or sell it mode.
We got our asking price too! Sooo happy. And I slept like I haven't slept in years. Although I did get up to check on the kids. One has strep (confirmed yesterday) and we're waiting to hear today if Beans has it also. Meds on board. And I'm feeling refreshed.
Praying for all the troubles everyone is facing today. Hope today is a good day for everyone.
Wonder i have been known to fall many times i am totally accident prone! Dad said well you didnt act injured even though he had to help me up, i said i was too embarassed but i was shaking when i got to the drs office!
Leo - Just ignore him for the moment. It sounds like he is just in a funk. But, at some point he needs to apologize for being so thoughtless. I think that most of us are not where we planned to be at this point in life. When I compare what my parents had/had done at this stage in their lives, my thought process gets kind of grim. I am just grateful to have a roof over my head. I hope that you have a quiet day.
Miki - You did so well in the race! I tried to post on this before but DS ate it. I know that you are really sore. Rest up!
Maynard - I hope that by now that you are at ER. What you are experiencing doesn't sound *right* to me either. I hope that ER can sort it out so you can start feeling better. You might ask your doctor about using the Flector patch for your ribs. It is non narcotic and only works where it is applied. I use them for DDD and they work really well. Take care of yourself today!
Kel - I am really sorry about Tweak. He had a good life and knew that he was loved. I'm sure Sparty is missing him too. Good news about your sister. You can't be and do everything for everyone. It seems to me between your health issues and taking care of Mom, that might be enough. Can your sister and BIL go into a facility together? Maybe there is one than has different units depending on the type of care needed. That way they can still see each other etc. Just a thought. I hope that your day goes OK up there in the frozen tundra. Hugs!
Bobbii - I've seen recipes for making pie crust with vodka but never tried it. Guess I will have to do it now. Enjoy your bible study.
Ida - I hope that you can get into the dentist and get that temporary crown adjusted. Take care!
Wonder - Big congrats on selling your house! How exciting. Sorry to hear that the boys are sick. I hope no one else catches it.
AngelaJo - Falling and sick again is not a good combination. I'm glad that you were able to get into the doctor so quickly and get some meds. You take care of yourself today and I hope that your bumps and bruises don't become too troublesome.
OK - Off to work on a couple of chores around here. Shout out to Twin, Bear and Autumn. I will check back later.
