When I'm severley panicky, with PTSD, I can't rely on my fave breathing, so I have the Screaming Pillow. If I scream, I exhale. THen I can cry or breathe or whatever. Otherwise, I can lock myself up pretty badly. So I'm picking Screaming Pillow. I scream into it when my chest is super-tight from having to Hold It All In. (Don't ask me what "it" is. Depends.) I scared hell outta Hubby last week when I barely made it to the car and immediately grabbed a cushion (I have it for my back in the car) and let out the scream of all screams. It's weird, like I forget to exhale enough and then ... well, if I scream, it helps!

Turns out I can lose 7 pounds if I shave my head and get both breasts removed. Odd little fact for you to try to get out of your head the rest of your day.
Ever hear of neurofibromatosis? Don't worry, me either. But it resulted in a man growing a tumor that weighed in at about 240 US pounds. More than he did, in fact. It was a nerve tumor. Suddenly, I feel better about my life...
The smallest country in the world, in land area, and under 1/4 square mile? Vatican City. It's a country, yes, b/c that way it's independent of all national interests. (That's the PR speech, anyway.)
Rafflesia arnoldii is the world's largest known flower, at up to a meter (a yard) across and weighing up to 15 US pounds. It's a parasitic plant, and I linked to Wikipedia's image of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rafflesia_arnoldii#/media/File:Rafflesia_sumatra.jpg
Not your everyday daisy....
Remember I mentioned that the gingko tree is one of the oldest surviving species of trees? Well, magnolias are also very far back in the fossil record, so if you see a magnolia, remember this factoid: The genus evolved before *bees*, so it's pollinated by beetles instead.

Now, off to the day! Which is... uh... ugh, catching up everything I didn't do yet. Yech.
Peace on your day!

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...
All is well with the burglary. Please read my OT thread.
Going out for coffee with daughter this morning while granddaughter goes to soccer camp. The afternoon is to myself. I am going to crochet. Tomorrow is counseling morning. Afternoon is ear treatment for Quincy at the vet.
Lots going on and I'm in pain today. I'm going to take some Excedrin.
Blessings to all.
I woke up "late" today (7am) after having the weirdest dream I've had in a while. Essentially was imprisoned with a friend by the power rangers, who were riding around on horses like knights-swords and all. No idea where that came from but less disturbing than the others I've had. I have therapy this afternoon and a date tonight, plus running and some errands that I might put off until tomorrow. I might be meeting the guy's family on the 4th, they're coming up from TN. We're going to talk more about it tonight. Why do I agree to this stuff? Now I'm stressing out about it. I know him wanting me to meet his family is a good sign (granted, mine doesn't even know about him, never tell them anything until it's official), but big groups of people I don't know...yeah. Now I gotta run (literally) before the humidity sets in, wishing a calm/relaxing day to everyone
Ida, I am so glad the burglary has been solved. I am also glad you can rest better now. Enjoy your coffee and your free time. You deserve it.
Miki, I am glad you were able to sleep in a bit, inspite of the weird dream. At least you had a friend with you! I hope your run goes well and that you have a good time tonight.
I am in agony. My pain is through the roof and I don't really know why. It is supposed to rain, but has like the last 23 of 30 days or something like that. I am totally exhausted too, even though I slept well. I just don't know. I go to the Neurologist tomorrow. I have a feeling it will be a waist of time. My racing friend's father's funeral is tomorrow and I would like to go, but it would conflict with my appointment, so I am not attending. I sent her a Father Memorial wind chime. I got one when my mom passed and every time it chimes it feels like she is talking to me. Okay. Have a good day all. I just want to cry and/or vomit from the pain.
Leo, that flower looks like it came out of Alice in Wonderland except it's missing the cheshire cat. And I think I'd tip the scales at 10lbs of hair and tah-tahs. As for my go to therapy tool when I'm panicking so horribly my hands are shaking and such? Prayer and I think of Baby Steps (from the "What about Bob" movie. Because when I'm nearly frozen in panic and I feel as though I'm about to pass out from it all....I baby step my way back to the car. I think it's more the prayer that gets me there to my safe zone.
Ida, so happy to hear your news on your OT thread. And I hope you get to enjoy your day with your daughter & grand daughter again, with a new relief under your feet.
Miki, YES! all good signs, though I still remember meeting my hubster's family for the first time. Ahh, to go back in time when I was still a believer, LOL. (His family is a bit strange). And your dream, yah that one is pretty good...But where they the old power rangers or the new ones? Hmm?
Low agenda today. After meeting with the accountant, my hubster realized he miscalculated the number of weeks remaining for this year. This resulted in a $300/week increase in his checks. I kinda feel like I drew the chance card at Monopoly and there was a bank error in my favor. Due to this, we opted to push some of it back into reserves for more time off.
And I got my pink flamingos. (for the party I'm hosting next weekend). They are cheesy and fun and crazy. Now to find some pink feathers to spruce them up a bit. I think I'm having too much fun with this Flamingo/luau party I'm throwing for my MIL. I kinda fell in love with all of the flamingo party decorations and I'm sure I'll be ready to puke pink by the time this is all done.
Hope everyone has a great day today! And to all who haven't posted, thinking of you all today!
I hope your appointment goes well, and that the neurologist can help.
I have to run to Costco for a script. It is going to be crazy there due to the upcoming holiday weekend.
Now, the whole weekend is supposed to a disaster weather wise. A significant chance of rain every single day. We had planned to start repairing raccoon damage and restain the deck. And, my nieces high school graduation party is tomorrow night. It was supposed to be in the backyard of my sister's house. We are going to be close and personal if everyone who was invited shows up.
I have to get out of here and join the mob at Costco. I will check back later.
Leo I find the pillow thing to be very helpful at times. Wow that flower should be in the book of records.
Ida I hope you have a good time with your daughter and a quiet and peaceful day.
Miki we should start a "weird dreams R us". I have extremely weird dreams most nights that I get sleep. Wow meet the parents hmmm. I can imagine the anxiety that idea conjures for you. It is a good sign that he wants to introduce you to them though.
BBmom I demand the agony to stop! Did it work? I will pray for relief and renewal for you. I hope your apt goes well and you get some answers. I am sad that you won't be able to go to the service for your friends father. I love the idea of the chime what a perfect gift. I hope it gives them a lot of peace.
Wonder now I am going to have pink flamingo nightmares lol. It sounds like you have entered the obsessing over the pink. I hope that the party goes well. It does sound like lots of fun. Extra money or time off is priceless.
I need to mop floors today which is always a cause of great pain. I just want everything done before the weekend. My partner has 5 days off and would be in the way if I tried to clean around her. I am almost done with the book I bought yesterday so I will finish it today.
I hope you all have a less pain day.
Fantod, I hope you survive costco. I will probably need groceries this weekend and it will be horrible. But, I will survive. If I need to go I will plan to get up early and get out before everyone else wakes up. Our weather has a lot of rain in it for the weekend too. I hope it holds off so all of the parties can happen.
Autumn, I hope you can get the floors cleaned without too much pain. It is hard to do when people are in the way. Thanks for demanding the pain go away, but it didn't listen. I hope your day goes well and you can finish your book.
I am trying to decide whether to go home or stick it out here. I just want to lay down, but not sure it will help. My sister volunteered me to work in the food tent at the carnival tonight from 6-8. I hope they don't end up needing me. I just can't do it. My throat also feels like there are some baby razor blades in it. I think I will go home. Maybe a few hours of rest will help. Sure wish I had that little white dog to help make me feel better.
Hugs.
Leo, ugh therapy. Uh....quiet room and a good book or movie. I have a lot of hair, so that may increase that number!
Ida, so glad they got the robbers. What a relief. Enjoy your day.
Miki, I'm sure your fella understands how stressful meeting family is. You can do it!
Wonder, I love your attitude! I wish I could be so upbeat. Flamingoes everywhere! I guess with the boys, this is your pink time! Enjoy.
BBMom, yes, you need to rest. Go home. Sleep. DONT work tonight!
Autumn, I love getting a new book. I mopped Monday and I still feel it. Oh well, has to be done.
Fantod, I hate Costco. It I need certain things from there too. My husband insists on walking the whole store even if we need nothing from certain areas. Exhausting.
Hyped up last night so I didn't sleep much. I am still in pain with my tooth. But it's slowly getting better. My husband tried to guilt me last night about having to take his holiday weekend and work around the house, all I asked is for my cushions and chair for my deck! That became "well, I don't want to bring too much here and then move it all for cleaning and staining the deck" um, you promised last year to do all that and it never was done and I never had my chairs! Ugh. I hate having stuff stored away from here. And no, I can't access where he has it stored because it is up high and too heavy for me.
I plan to hit a couple of stores and crochet and knit the rest of the day. I have numerous gifts to complete. My hands are already screaming but I'll wear my so,into tonight.
Wishing you all sunshine.
Our security system at work is being upgraded so I didn't have my computer this morning. Then we had a security meeting. I'm in so much pain today. My legs ache, burn, throb, you name it and I probably have it going on. But I am very thankful to not have a giant tumor on my body. Praise God!
Leo, my husband always gives the girls a pillow when the hurt themselves. I've never tried it. My go to would be God, I have a journal with my favorite scriptures, but it's a pain to carry back and forth from work, so lately I'm in the habit of immediately pulling up my bible app. There are plans on the app so you can find certain plans to do for 7 days that deal with anxiety, fear, depression, whatever. I love those.
ida, I hope you enjoyed that coffee. I'm glad you get some rest time this afternoon, hoping your pain lowers when you rest. I hate taking our dogs to the vet, I hope Quincy behaves and isn't too scared.
Miki, I'm glad you got some extra sleep. I know meeting the parents is rough, but that is a great sign, just be yourself.
Bbmom, it sounds like you are getting sick on top of your pain. I'm sorry. I hope you get to go home soon and rest.
Wonder, what a great find with the accountant. yay! Enjoy your kind of rest day, I know better you stay busy with those boys. :-)
Fantod, I have been known to lay on my bed when I'm really down, so I understand the safety there. I hope you don't get as much rain as they're saying. Rats for all of your plans if it rains.
Autumn, you amaze me with the books. I hope the pain from mopping isn't too bad.
Bobbi, I hate the hamster wheel in my head at bedtime. I hope you get your gifts completed soon. Praying over those hands and your sleep.
Well Maddie doesn't have strep, and he really couldn't see any infection at this point, but with her high fever he is concerned she needs an antibiotic. He said to wait a few days and then start the antibiotic if her fever remains high. Is that normal? She keeps complaining about her back, arms, and legs, I told him that, but he didn't know. Great!
Have a great day!
Rafflesia arnoldi is Indonesia's state flower! It stinks like death and they call it the corpse flower. There is also another corpse flower that is over 3 meters tall and is just as stinky! Also in Indonesia, called the armorphophallus titum: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amorphophallus_titanum
Gosh, I really could have used some breathing therapy yesterday, my anxiety was 10/10. I was still tense from my mom's death-talk the previous day, then the throbbing pain from the mammogram and running around trying to get to all those places made me feel overwhelmed. THEN when I stopped at home for a zooming lunch my husband picked a real nasty fight with me.... all I did was ask him to help me put the dishes away... 1st he said they weren't his and then he grabbed the trash can and threw the dishes that I had just cleaned INTO the trashcan! "There! Problem solved!!" He yelled. I was so ticked off, boy, I wanted to kick him in his head but instead I kicked the trashcan which put a big dent in it. He had the gull to ask me why I was treating him that way?? Are freaking kidding me! I made him fish it all out and rewash them. What the H.
Then because of the fight I was late for my PTSD therapy. I swear, after I finally came home (after my 2 hour long hair appt at the end of the day), I was going to ask for a divorce. I really was. I just couldn't take anymore of this. My chest was so tight from anxiety it was throbbing, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack, so I had dug through my meds and found an old valium and took some (thank God). My husband saw me curled up on the floor and apologized and asked me what he could do, so I told him I could use some dinner (he never cooks for me). But 1st I needed some quiet / alone time so I could calm down. I didn't make it to the potluck last night and I hope my friends will understand.
I have horse therapy today which has been about a month since and then I go see a podiatrist for the mysterious ankle pain that comes and goes. It's raining right now so I hope it stops in time for me to go to the stables.
Btw, I will check and see if my mom has a pill organizer. If not, I will get her one to try and keep track of her meds. My therapist said she might be skipping her meds or cutting them in half since she doesn't want to take them since she is now talking about death and stuff (might be a symptom).
Sigh.... anxiety is still up from the past few days. I just need to find a way to relax. I go back to the salon tomorrow to finish bleaching my hair white, and then put the blue and red colors in.
Ida, I will go check your other post.
Miki, I'll join your weird dreams club. Been having some crazy ones lately, too. I hope meeting the family goes well. You should watch the movie Meet The Parents and the series after that just to help you get a laugh.
BB, is that 23 days of rain? Or 23 days they keep saying it's SUPPOSED to? Either way I'm sorry your pain continues and I hope you and your docs find a way to get on top of it. Sad you're missing the funeral. It's too bad we can't be in 2 places at once.
Wonder, yay more money! Whoohoo flamingos! What a fun luau.
Fantod, pillow fortress sounds really good. I should try that next time (though it was hot last night in the house lol). Good luck with all the party plans and trying to keep out of the rain.
Bobbii, hope he gets movin and staining that deck pronto! *cracks whip*
Leo, my favorite therapeutic thing is journaling. I started doing that lately and it was surprising how much it helped. That’s one crazy flower.
Miki, good luck with the guy’s family, if you go. It’s a good sign that he wants you to meet them though.
Bbmom, so sorry about the pain. I hope it goes away soon. The memorial wind chime was a great idea. Sounds cool.
Wonder, glad that the miscalculation was something good. It’s always good when you have money you can put into reserves. The flamingo/luau party sounds like it’s going to be fun.
Autumn, I agree with others about the memory foam bed. I have one and it is like sleeping on a cloud.
Bobbii, I’m glad the tooth pain is getting better. Good luck on getting your cushions and chair out of storage.
I’m having a pretty good day. I didn’t take my Lyrica pill this morning so I’m not so tired. I think I’ll just take it at night for a while. I don’t even feel the pain as much. I’m wondering if I felt more pain because I was more tired. And, I’m legal now. Yay!!! I got my driver’s license today. What an ordeal. I’m glad that I got the push to go to the eye doctor, but glad that the whole ordeal is over.
Hope everyone has a great day, or is able to do things to help you feel better.
Susan
Blue, that’s terrible about the fight with your husband. It’s a shame you had to miss the pot luck. That’s cool about the horse therapy. I’ve heard really good things about it. My daughter is the barn manager at a horse farm in Tennessee. She has always loved horses and I’m so happy she got a job where she works with them all day. A pill organizer for you mom would be a great idea. I have one for myself and it’s a great way to keep track of everything. I would probably miss something if I didn’t have one. I hope you have a better day today.
Blue gentle hugs and prayers coming your way. I hate that your husband is such a d3ck sometimes. I hope today brings you some gentle me time. I use a pill organizer and it really helps. I am on so many meds that I have one that says morning, noon, evening and night.
Susan I am sorry you aren't adjusting to the Lyrica. It effects each person differently and I am a zombie for the first couple hours when I wake up.
Bobbii I hope your husband gets a move on with the deck and chairs. I would scream until it was done just so I could sit outside and enjoy the weather.
Twins I hope it doesn't become strep and I am a little worried about the chances of meningitis. Keep a close eye on her and if she starts to get blotches take her to the emergency room. I am glad that it was quieter than normal at work. You needed a break,
I am going to buy another book because I just finished the one I got yesterday. It is still cool enough for me to sit out one the patio and read. I have several hummingbirds that feed here and my chickadees are many this year. I love that my patio has a wood fence around it so no one even knows that I am there when I sit outside.
