I came in to the doc's office yesterday to see my PCM... and while they were taking my vitals asked me if I wanted the flu shot (told me I'm due). so i said yes. they gave me the shot and it wasn't till AFTER WARDS that they handed me the print out on the shot and i was reading it over and noticed it said the shot this year is a "combined vaccination" including the H1N1 in the shot!
from what I remember last year, fibro patients (and some other chronic pain illnesses) were told to NOT get the H1N1 vaccinations and all these warnings came out against it. I freaked out at the nurse! why didn't she warn me that it had H1N1! when I tried to explain it about the fibro, she kept giving me deer in the headlights clueless look and saying, "Well as long as you aren't allergic to eggs, you'll be fine."
i"m not talking about allergies, woman! i"m talking about reactions to side effects! she just kept repeating the allergies to eggs thing to me. f***ing clueless!!!
she sent me back out to the waiting room to wait for my PCM to call me back, but by the time she called me back, I forgot to ask her about it. my primary doc is one of the docs last year that told me NOT to get the shot.

did anyone get the H1N1 shot last year? did anyone get this flu shot THIS year? did you get sick?? so far, as soon as I got home yesterday, I've been getting body aches and had to lay down. (I don't normally get sick from the flu shot).

I've pretty much been staying in bed as much as possible. I KNOW the shot didn't give me the flu because it's a dead virus....BUT since the shot, I've had stabbing muscle pains everywhere (almost like a charley-horse), nausea, headaches, arm has been hot to the touch, itchy, and generally feel more crappy than the normal fibro. I was supposed to take my mom grocery shopping today, but that didn't happen. plus my arm was so sore it felt like some one hit it with a base ball bat. I don't remember it being like that before with previous shots.
the soreness in my arm has receded but i"m still dealing with the other side effects.
I regret getting the shot. I would rather deal with 2 weeks of the real flu than these shitty side effects, especially if it continues or gets worse.

I used to get flu shots and just feel as though I would die!
Everyone keeps telling me I had better get one.
Now I have a good reason to tell them NO!

I did not get one last year and even though I taught in classes where students came down with H1N1, I managed to avoid it (I also keep a monster sized bottle of Germ-X in the room and students are encouraged to use it).
I got the H1N1 shot last year since I am high risk - have asthma etc. I plan on getting the flu shot this year since last year I had the flu really bad - had to stay in bed for one week. I will be getting the flu shot at one of my doctor's office.
