Good morning. Argh, I hate the tiny type. OK, DS knows that. So today is my mom's first radiation session. She has thirty. Five a wee for six weeks. Ohhhh.... boy. She's already fairly not great and radiation in your head isn't great by itself.... Oy.... Me worry? Nah. *gnaws claws to nubs*
On happier notes, OMG, the cat situation here is in-freaking-sane. Maury (our cat, once Mom's) is 14, deaf, going blind, frail, and needs meds.... So why is that relevant? Well, the other two in our care at the moment (Lil Miss and Shadow) meow and hiss at him, but he can't hear, so he just stares at them, and it freaks *them* out. I had to recover LilMiss from atop the fridge, she was so upset that he didn't "respond". Shadow eventually cooled off abou tit and decided to just hiss and walk away, but Lil Miss is one of *those*. She can't not instigate. Or investigate. OMG. What a Miscreant.
So why do I have them in my house? Simple. Record horrible heat, and their owners left them out. So they came to me. So here they are. They wander home at night, then at 6:30 AM sharp, back to my house, inside, and out of the heat, and done. I'm time-sharing cats....
Meanwhile, Hubby is yelling at Muary, who is deaf. Uh, Hubby? Helllloooo? Deaf cat. Doesn't work. To get his attention, we knock on the floor and he responds to the vibrations on his paws. Not my first aged kitty, can you tell? Poor old dude. But he's comfy and medicated and groomed and only aware of other cats if his nose tells him, so.... Hey, we should all have such a good retirement, ribght?

Today in 1057 the real Macbeth (claimed King of Scotland) was klled by the very real son of the very real and very dead King Duncan of Scotland. The real Duncan, btw, ruled six years and was nicknamed "Duncan An Tllarach" or "Duncan the DIseased". He followed his grandfather to the throne, died in battle in Moray against someone who may have been Macbeth, and his two sons eventually succeeded him. The elder, Malcolm, was not yet old enough to inherit when Duncan died (being maybe nine years old) and eventually grew up (in exile) and it wasn't nearly as cool as Shakespeare's Macbeth, but hey, that's history for you. On Malcolm's death (in the 1090s), his younger brother took the throne, died in 1099. I'll note, btw, that historically speaking, Macbeth and Duncan had the same claim to the throne of Scotland, both being grandsons of the sitting king (an earlier Malcolm), which was rather more legal basis than that which gave rise to the English Wars of the Roses. Welcome to the scenic wonderful romantic Medieval Era! It sucked, people. If leprosy, a scratch on your arm, war, disease, famine, cold, or an animal didn't kill you.... You might see 40. Royals had it better, but let's face it, it's like all those romantic notions of the Old (US) South. Who're wee kidding? Most people scratched for a living, barely made one. No, they all didn't live in glamour. That would be "Real Housewives".... Who, let's admit, are probably all 30 percent silicone implants or something... People's skin shouldn't look like that unless they have a disease. Which takes us back to Duncan the Diseased, no one knows what it was, but he could've just been "frail". Or have an STD. Or leprosy. Or asthma. Or acne, for that matter. Acne, smallpox, hey, in the 1000s, it was all the same to the "medical profession".
Wow, sorry, that was one wild tangential ramble there.
In 1848, the dental chair was patented. And, to this day, my dentists' chairs are ten times more comfy than anything I ever have at home, so at least they care if we're comfy while we're reallllllly uncomfy, so to speak?
Tdaoy in 1911, Crisco was introduced. What is it? Well, now, it's heavily hydrogenated fats, usually vegetable fats. Back then? Same thing. Cottonseed oil was the original. Now it's soybean. The problem? It still contains trans fats, folks. They have less than .5 grams per "serving", which allows them to say "zero" on the label. Anyway, Crisco is blamed fo r"killing lard" in US cooking. Not, however, in my family. Dad's side used bacon grease (yes, they saved it and re-used it), and Mom's side is Polish. Duh, they used lard or butter. Crisco? Pfft.
Happy birthday to India! Independent from British imperialism this date 1947, when Pakistan also formed. (Technically, August 14 or 15 can be considered the date, depends who you listen to).

OKI, gotta get going so I can harass an eye doctor into getting Mom her glasses so we know if her vision is deteriorating from Radition or from somethingelse or ... at all. *headdesk* When did I turn into such an administrator? Ack!
Merry Monday to all!

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

Today (August 8) is INternational Cat Day. Don't click away! International DOG day is August 26! Both were created to raise aweareness and funds for the well-being of critters. We have many such dayts, to the pint that every day is like an old Catholic saints' day calendar: Take your pick!I'm home, obvs, and still ill. Left calf and foot not great after a tangle-fall, but i'll live. Just can't...
Well wishes on the glasses run I hated doing that for myself let alone for someone else! Way to go trooper!!
I often ask the same questions about being an administrator/caretaker for my Mom. Totally against my nature but we do what we must.
Leo, big hugs for mom's radiation. My dad did it for 5 days a week for 6 or 8 weeks, and he ended up looking so weak and couldn't keep anything down. I hope your mom has no problems and I send you lots of strength to get through this. It's difficult seeing our parent go through hard times and this is just one more hard thing you have to endure among many.
Precious, oh dear, I hope you get some rest today. May you have a low pain day and find something to enjoy.
Kel, how are you doing? I hope you are feeling okay and your pain didn't increase from the weekend. I don't remember how long your vacation was going to be? Have fun!
Angela, Enjoy breakfast with your mom. I'm sorry you had a bad night and tailbone pain. Mine is hurting bad right now too. I am really glad the oxygen has helped with the headaches.
I'm going through the normal daily struggles with severe pain, depression, and anxiety. I went to church yesterday and it was very empowering and encouraging. Naturally when I got home I wanted to share it with my husband. He now refuses to go to church, but he did before we had kids. Come to find out it was all an act and he doesn't believe in God. I simply don't know what to do. I don't know how to process this or handle it. I seriously want to give up and stop trying to handle my life. I can't take it anymore.
I hope everyone survives Monday.
Good morning, or good night Precious! I couldn't be up all night and function much at all. I hope you get some rest.
Mornin' Kel! How was your trip? I hope your pain isn't too bad today.
Angela, I am glad your headaches are better with your oxygen. Do you have portable tanks that you could take to your mom's if you need to stay there? We use Dunkin Donut coffee daily. My coffee maker grinds it and then brews it. I love it. Although, the pain meds from my surgery have made the taste "funny". Coffee is my one vice, well besides swearing like a sailor, so I sometimes indulge. I hope you have a good breakfast and then can get some rest.
Twin - I read about the lice infestation at daycare. It is running pretty rampant around here too, from what I hear. There are products you can use to deter it. One that comes to mind is Fairy Tales. Also, lice do not like coconut or rosemary, so you could add that to shampoo to help as well. Did you get your haircut too this weekend?
Blue, glad hubby took you out. At least his intentions were good, even though he messed up with the parking.
So, Friday we went shopping. I was exhausted and sweaty when I got home. I showered and put my jammies on by 2pm. Hubby came home from his week away. I have so much animosity towards him for several reasons. I hate that. Our 20th anniversary is Wed and at this point I am not sure I can make it to 21. However I find it difficult to talk to him about anything. He is still effing around with his stupid GI bill transfer to our daughter. HELLO, tuition is due the 25th and unless you have $10K in your pocket dude, get your shit in order. Sonny raced yesterday, but his bike was having issues, which is so frustrating. We camped and boy did it storm. We watched a portajohn tip right over. I have a phobia about those, that is why we have a camper. I need my own toilet! LOL I need to learn to drive with the darn thing though. We have a race about 2 hrs away in Sept. and hubby finally said he couldn't go. So me, a GMC 2500 and a 31' camper going down the highway. YAY! NOT! I might drink heavily once we reach the destination as I am having anxiety about it already.
Okay, I am rambling. I hope everyone has a lower pain day today. Ida, hope you made it home. Fantod, hope today is less painful. Take care all.
That is sure a lot of radiation for your mom, Leo. I hope she takes it ok. And that you can get through it too. Poor old kitty. And I really don't understand leaving one's pet out in the heat. Would they like to spend all day outside? I think not. Have a good day.
Precious, I hope you can get some rest today. Hang in there.
Kel, you must be in a rush today with such a short post. Hope your Door county trip went well.
Angela, sorry for your bad night. I used to have tailbone pain like that all of time. So awful. I would love to try your coffee. I love Dunkin' Dounuts!
Well, we made it home last evening....on my birthday. I feel all of my 54 years, and more today after our trip. We did have a great time, with wonderful restaurants and lots of swimming....in pools, not the ocean. Hubby's boss surprised us with enough money to put in a new well, which is badly needed as we have such bad water pressure. Hubby's boss just couldn't stand to have us with such a poor water supply. Such a nice bonus. They are super nice people.
I did not get felt up by TSA on the way home. It still bothers me to think of it, from our trip down there. Ugh, PTSD.
I am in a lot of pain this morning, and oh, so tired. I fell asleep after pizza last night. Hubby wanted to take me out for my birthday, but I could no longer function. I did not wake up when hubby left this morning. I slept until 8:30am. I still feel exhausted. I have to go to the bank, and get some groceries for the week. I should mow the lawn, but that is not happening today. I would probably fall asleep. Tomorrow, I hope.
later.....
Wow Leo, I hope that everything goes well with your mom's treatment and that it doesn't cause you to flare up.
Angela, so sorry that you are having such a rough time. This nasty flare will pass.
Twinmom. wow! That is rough! I am a Christian myself and I cannot imagine how painful and confusing that must be. Praying for you and your family,
Basketballmom, so sorry you are dealing with that strss with your husband. Hang in there.
I woke up feeling really sore and achey, as usual. I am exhausted because I never feel rested after sleeping anymore. Right now I am getting ready to go to the ear nose and throat doctor, because I have been having nasty sinus issues. Hopefully he will be able to help me. This is one of FOUR doctors appointments I have this week... God help me. One of the upcoming appointments is with a new psychiatrist who will hopefully take me off cymbalta, and another is with a urologist because I have been having issues with urine retention... And I still have so many appointments I need to schedule. I feel like my body is just crumbling apart and I'm not even 21 yet... I am trying to stay positive, but I am discouraged.
Stay cool today everyone. It is blazing hot out where I am.
Kel, they should offer degrees in "Parent Care", and to hell with the rest?
Presh, glad to see you!
Twin, don't let it discourage you, okay? Hubby and I don't always end up on the same "page" in those matters, but it's okay, y'know? He's still a good guy doing the good things, and given how he was raised, I know why he thinks the way he thinks.
Angela, oooh, Dunkin Donut coffee.... The smell is enough to be a treat for me:-)
BBall, even if her owners moved, I think Lil Miss would find a way to hide in Hubby's pocket, LOL. Or our bird bath.
Sorry if I missed anyone. I'm too tired to think.
To everyone-my prayers are with you all. Life is a struggle!
Ida, Happy Belated birthday! I'm glad you made it home safe. His boss is a blessing! Praise God for putting him in your life. I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I hope it eases up now that you are home and in your chair.
BBmom, that sounds like a fantastic idea. I have always enjoyed Golden girls. LOL. I'm sorry about your dog. I think our Golden Retriever was 13 when we had to make the tough decision, it's so heartbreaking. Try not to stress about the drive. Hugs
Leo, thanks for the help. My husband did not grow up in church and he was beaten by his mothers boyfriend for years. I know he's had it hard. Thanks!
Precious, I hope your brain calms down and sleep comes.
