You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

I was diagnosed in December with Fibromyalgia. I tried Lyrica and it was really bad for me, made me extremely depressed and tired.
I started using CBD oil and it's been great except for when I exercise. It seems to pass through my system and wear off more quickly with exercise. Plus my pain seems to be worse afterward. I have more spots flare up on my body and the pain is sharp. Last night and today it's almost been debilitating.
Anyone know why or have some literature with some explanations?
Thanks

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. To do that you need to move at a snail pace in your increments.
Start out with a 5 minute walk. Do this for two weeks. Then add on 5 minutes. Do this for 2 weeks. Add 5 for another two weeks up to your goal or the 30 minute mark.
Excercise no longer means “break a sweat”. If that makes any sense.
For me, I refer to excercise as the sunburn theory. I can work out and not feel my body feeling sore. (Just like you often don’t feel yourself burning from the sun).
Then later, I discover the damage I have done and it takes me a good two weeks to recover from it.
What you are experiencing is quite normal for Fibro sufferers.
I swam the ocean for exercise, an hour 3x a week. My problem now besides crazy pain, is that I've developed a cold temperature intolerance. So getting in the water feels like torture to me and I turn purple with numb hands and feet. I live in Hawaii so this should not be happening.
People with Fibromyalgia can do Tai Chi, walking. Yoga and water aerobics specifically for arthritics. Some people are able to run but that is not common. Most of us do what we can which is very low impact and not for long. Something is better than nothing. You may be expecting way too much.
There are other medications that might be helpful to manage your pain. And, if nothing else you should be using a sleep aid. Fibromyalgia interrupts the deep sleep cycle with short bursts of high intensity brain activity. Your muscles require deep sleep to recover from the days activities. No deep sleep means higher levels of pain.
Do you have a copy of the book “Fibromyalgia for Dummies?” You can find it on Amazon. It will give you a comprehensive overview of this illness and a lot of ways to manage it. Take care.
I had been able to go for walks and do some hiking with little to no adverse results. I have recently tried to return to my preferred methods of exercising: weight lifting and jogging. I've had a few good days of workouts where I only felt muscle fatigue and not fibromyalgia pain afterward. After my workout on Tuesday evening my body flared up intensely and I couldn't sleep most of the night.
I am aware that antidepressants can be used to help modulate pain, but I am not interested in using them unless it is a last resort. I have used antidepressants before and the side effects weren't worth it.
I'm not aware of any other meds that can be used besides antidepressants and Lyrica. Nothing else was offered to me by my doctor.
Honestly, if your doctor is not more helpful or forthcoming, you might consider finding someone else. This is a complex illness that is often accompanied by underlying issues. It is pretty important to have a medical professional that is fully vested in helping and wel! educated about Fibromyalgia. Take care.
There are times when I'll go for a 1-1 1/2 mile walk and the pain hits me minimally aftwards and other times doing the same exact walk will take me a few days to recover from the intense body pain.
