What a great thought. People without pain don't realize how lucky they are. I have bad stomach pain along with my fibro, and I came across an electrolyte drink that has greatly reduced my stomach pain (the magnesium keeps me more regular), and I get days here and there with no stomach pain now and I just think OMG this is what other people feel like all day. They have it made, they are so lucky not having that constant worry, pain, and depression centered around just trying to eat for the day to survive. Now to have a break from the all over muscular pain and neuropathy, that would be great.

Because my depression and PTSD have been so bad the past 1 1/2 years, I'm on sleep aids. I gotta say that they are SUCH a help! I still have nights I don't sleep as well, but I'm not up more than half the night any longer. Maybe talking to your doctor about prescription sleep aids would help? It's working for me.

In my specific case I've been suffering from chronic pain for the past 6+years. Failed back surgery syndrome. I've pretty much gotten used to the fact that I will always have pain. But the point I wanted to make is what a difference a pain free night is. I have to take a benzo to sleep and also use medicinal cannabis. The cannabis has made a huge difference in the quality of my sleep. Although I cannot use it during the day, don't like the "high". But I think most people don't give it too much thought as to how challenging sleeping with pain is...

I'm like Twins.... every once in a while I have one day without stomach pain and feel like I've scored the lottery. Can't help but think about normal people and how blessed they are, and how they take it all for granted. My husband, for example, doesn't have chronic pain and will, because he wants to, get up in the middle of the night to bake pizzas, watch movies, go out driving around the island looking for stuff to do. I don't understand people like him for the life of me, if I didn't have pain, I'D BE SLEEPING.

I can relate because I have a hard time sleeping sometimes. Do you ever listen to music? I find music very relaxing, and it helps me fall asleep. I also find that I sleep better if I keep myself busy during the day. You are doing the right thing by helping yourself in any way that you can.

I have to listen to white noise because unfortunately on top of my chronic pain I'm now suffering from tinnitus which has really thrown a wrench in my life for the past 2-3 months, it's so annoying that it just bring my mood even deeper. But just another thing to add to my sleeping problems.

I have been researching the vagus nerve. It is the nerve pathway that helps relax the body. There is information online about how to get the body to relax by stimulating this nerve pathway.

I understand exactly what you are saying. One thing I know that helps me is what I like to call selfish care. Learning and then making myself take care of myself sometimes having to me first before others. It can be a challenge, but when I do take care of me, I do feel better and can manage my pain, depression, and anxiety better. Good thought for you.
