It's official. They invented a washing machine that notifies you by text your laundry is done because of idiots like my hubby. Gotta redo the load b/c he left it in the washer overnight. EW.
The skink caught by Dahlia two days ago remains hidden under our baseboards. WEon't come out for anything. I give up. I'll have to cope with the stink of dead skink which is likely its fate. Love Hubby but he doesn't have that instinct to kill. In a zombie movie, he'd hesitate and be lost. Me, I'd be flailing with a machete in one hand and a shotgun in the other like some nutjob, and I know it, but .... Seriously, he had that stupid skink *(lizard)* in ghis hand abnd droped it b/c it was slimy. ARGH ARGH ARGH. TLDR: Dahlia 15, Skinks zero. We should've sent HER after al-Qaeda. Two days later, done, and the Taliban surrendered. There's be legends about "the blackness that destroys" currently purring next to me on the chair!

This is the infamous plentiful and colorful skink to which I refer:

Maxes out around six inches long. Climbs trees, lives in leaves, ubiquitous if there's prey for it. Endangered in Ontario, extinct much other places, but curtrently supposedly not endangered in my yard. LOL. Oh, it's endangered.
Gotta go try to set up skink bait again. *sigh* And re-do laundry. And and and.

Good afternoon! Leo is unable to log onto DS. I just got back from work and getting my hair cut. It's raining here today which we need. Work was fine except for the cat getting under my feet when I was trying to put the biggest litter box back in place. I lost my balance and put a 6" surface gash in the wall trying not to drop the box on him. I couldn't see exactly where he was but I...

72FPantry and then Mom and I'm being incensed with the nightmare and her money. Over the last six years, almost seven they have received a couple of hundred thousand of their money. At the time the only thing they need edwas their apartment and meals. They did their own laundry and house keeping, drove to the store and did their own. I took them to all doctor appointments. They were charged...

It’s actually cool this morning, even got into the upper 40s, and it’s supposed to be nice all day. Miki loves these cool mornings, and she was really happy on her walk. I went for a run, and managed to get my errands done. Now I’m about ready to crash, which means I can test my new sheets that came yesterday (nothing special, just been a while since I’ve bought new ones and it was much needed)
I found out this week that the orange asshole is restricting use of international pharmacies if the medication is available here. It takes effect next month and I’m pissed. I order Nox’s inhaler through a Canadian pharmacy because it’s significantly cheaper…even with tariffs and all that BS, and shipping, it’s $90 less per inhaler. If I go through GoodRx, the least expensive option (which is inconvenient) is $170. I just ordered 2 inhalers from the Canadian pharmacy for $160, which includes $30 in fees also imposed by the orange asshole, and shipping. Right now an inhaler lasts 4 months, but as his lung tumor grows I’ll probably need to increase the dose and then he’ll need a new one every 1-2 months. I’m lucky that’s the only thing I order from there, because a lot of people order their own medications that way. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that this policy will definitely kill people who will be forced to ration their medications or stop taking them entirely. It’s a cruel thing to do, especially when everything else has only gotten more expensive, and people are already stretched too thin.
Came home and had to get that sorted and order parts for my car because the check engine light is on again. I really have not had a moment since I got home to myself. I ordered both sensors. I found the most expensive one on Ebay for a good price. That was kind of a relief. I still need new front struts.
Leo - I'm sure that the skink is not coming out because of the cats. I'm sorry. I had something die in the crawlspace under the house years back. We threw mothballs under there to kill the smell. That was just as bad as the original smell. I am trying to avoid any appliance that is tied to my WIFI. I don't need to know what the dishwasher is doing. Just this morning, I saw the LG smart TVs are keeping track and listening to things going on in the house even when off. That's not acceptable.
Miki - I hate that guy so much. He has made things that were already hard even worse. I paid $3.99 a gallon for no name unleaded petrol today. Groceries are outrageous . I just can't.... I'm enjoying the Irish giving him a bollocking today during his visit to Ireland. Some of the balloons are pretty outrageous. I hope that you manage to find a something that gives you a bit of peace this weekend.
Waves!
Fan, I can't abide mothballs, so I'll have to use something else. Or lure it out somehow. I've got the AC down so it'll want to go into the warmth under the fridge, and from there I can get it to a (safe) trap tghat will mean it goes back outside!
Unless it's between floors, in which case, I'm sawing a hole in a ceiling to get it's icky out annd patching the drywall. I have limits. That's one.
Miki, I remember the president was pro Canadian drugs during his first term. Idk what happened that it's the opposite now. You may be able to find cheap inhalers through Trump Rx, though. My mom's medications skyrocketed in price. One particular med used to cost out of pocket around $50 for her, but now is over $300. There are numerous other examples, but this one is the worst one. I have found a few of them on Trump Rx, but she doesn't know how to use the internet, so what's the point. She likes to call everyone because she is old school, but you can never get a live human on the phone anymore since Covid. I am sorry about all the things going on with Miki. I hope you are able to aspirate her liver.
Fantod, I am with you on skyrocketing prices of everything. It seems to me our economy continues to worsen no matter who is in the WH.
We continue to get excessive heat advisories every day. The triple digits curse from hell broke, but not by much. Yesterday's high was 98 with a heat advisory saying "feels like 106". I expect nothing less today.... the heat usually doesn't relent till Oct or Nov. -_-
The babies CASA came by to check on them yesterday. And today we are expecting their CPS case manager. I can't wait till they're adopted and the endless stream of government bearocrats can stop coming through my house. They have a case manager from ECI, a case manager from CPS, a case manager from the foster agency, a CASA, and an attorney ad litem. And each of those case managers of course have a team of people who visit, make us sign a bunch of papers, write reports, etc.
Last time the CASA came, she seem to be on the bio mother's side, which is wrong because she is supposed to be neutral. She is supposed to advocate for whatever is in the best interest of the child (in this case children). But yesterday, she switched sides and is rooting for us to adopt them.
At some point today, I hope to make a pot of mung bean porridge with black sticky rice cooked in coconut milk. I also hope to make a trey of egg bites for hubby's breakfast this week.
