Hi, I'm thankful for groups like this because they have helped me understand how others live with their illness and help each other figure things out. Back in 2015 I had blood test results come back positive for Limited Scleroderma and have gone down hill the past 2 years. I'm a bit overwhelmed with all of the things I have been diagnosed with. MTHFR gene mutation, Mixed Connective Tissue Disease, fibromyalgia, Hashimoto's and prediabetic so I started learning about the MTHFR first then the MCTD. Now I am on to the Fibromyalgia.
What were the first symptoms you new were Fibromyalgia?

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Well..my thyroid might be a problem. I have a high TSH but normal T4. TSH increases when your thyroid isn't producing enough thyroid hormones...if only the TSH is high, it could be early or subclinical. Will wait and see if they want to do anything about that or just recheck it at some point. Either it'll even out or my T4 will drop. Meanwhile it's hot and I'm working with Karen, and I have no...

Fibromyalgia is a disorder of the central nervous system. In some people it can be triggered by high levels of stress, childbirth, an accident, or emotional trauma. There is also a genetic component that is still being researched. Fibromyalgia does run in some families. The mechanism that causes it is not understood.
In my case, it was a combination of high levels of stress and a disc fai!ing in my lower back. I believe that my Dad may have had it but was never diagnosed. Our health histories are very similar.
I knew what I had before I saw the rheumatologist because my best friend was diagnosed two years earlier.
I'd like to suggest that you purchase the book "Fibromyalgia for Dummies.". It is available on Amazon. It will give you a comprehensive overview of this complex illness. And, a myriad of ways to try and manage it.
i hope that my comments are helpful to you. Take care.

It took me five years to get my doctor to look at it seriously. Because I live with chronic pain and have arthritis and rsd and chronic fatigue. I was having muscle and joint pain all the time. In my breasts , legs, thighs everywhere. my back aches 24/7 I take a lot of medications.
I was given Lyrica it worked great took away pain but after a month I gained 50 lb. and got severely depressed and then suicidal. I found out through my pharmacist that was all side effects of Lyrica so have gone off of it. I haven't found anything that works completely. My doctor gave me toradol it helped a bit. finally I went to the hospital and they injected me with liquid toradol in the pain spot which was at top of breast going under my arm. I have been checked for breast cancer because I have had it previously. the injection took away my pain. but how do I get my doctor to let me do this myself. I used to be a nurse so I know how to do this. but I wonder what all are you doing to keep this under control. good luck gentle hugs casey
