Need advice for pain meds.

Lost my doctor and have a temporary one. I am struggling with pain...spring weather changes, and planning the yearly motorcycle trip. Emailed the temp. doctor and he said he wouldn't advise neurontin and clonipin which I'm off anyway. Right now I take nothing. Asked for some pain meds. and he said ....wouldn't give me what I had and Kindest regards. Mmmm....so any suggestions on what I could ask for, for some even temporary pain meds????

You might ask for Tylenol #3 or tramadol. They are less scary for doctors to prescribe. Since he is a temporary doctor if you explain it is for your motorcycle trip which you know can cause you a lot of pain but you love it. Maybe he will have some compassion.

I use homeopathic meds for these things two. My favorites are rhus toxidenron and arnica 30x. I pull a rib a few weeks ago and took arnica. The nurse practitioner told me it would take a long time to get better, but I healed quickly with arnica.

Neurontin is an old school remedy but still widely prescribed for the type of pain caused by Fibromyalgia. Muscle relaxers, Cymbalta, Savella and Lyrica are also commonly used.

You are not going to get narcotics if that is what you mean by pain killers. Doctors are not prescribing them these days. The government is now monitoring what they prescribe. Too many scripts for opioids will result in them losing their license.

Frankly, this doctor sounds like he doesn't believe that Fibromyalgia exists. It has had its own diagnostic code since the fall of last year. Find someone else and report this joker in writing to your insurance carrier. He is violating his Hippocratic Oath by refusing to treat you.Take care.

don't be surprised if the dr says he won't prescribe any pain meds.

I too have recently started taking Arnica pills, my friends swear by it. You can find it at most drug stores and health food places. I would ask the doctor for a muscle relaxer. They work better than any narcotic I have ever had.

I meant to write 30C, rather than 30X.

I was just watching the celebration for the Queen's 90th birthday. I know the royal family is into homeopathy and she climbs stairs better than I do, and I'm decades younger. Maybe I should be making an appointment with a homeopath. (I did go to one when I was younger.)

I have noticed that many doctors prescribe tramadol. I am not familiar with this drug. Does it make you very sleepy? Other side effects?

Well surprise surprise I have been emailing him and he keeps telling me how bad these drugs are but he is ready to assist me. I finally told him I feel like I have to guess what he will approve. I finally asked him if he is going to prescribe something or not. Ridiculous!! Thanks for the advice much appreciated. Still waiting for his answer.
