Hi. Sounds horrible. Are You giving your system a break? Like liquid diet, no sugar, like soda, no caffiene,... chicken broth is good, and rice cooked into a porraige. I hv some experience w similar issues.

What meds have they given you?

I am sorry you are suffering with bad anemia, J.P. I went through years of internal bleeding which doctor's and specialists could not find. I had transfusions, weekly iron infusions, hospitalizations. I finally went to Mayo clinic here in MN, and almost right away they found Cameron's Erosions. You must feel so weak and drained. Gentle hugs and prayers your doctor's figure it out.

Nettie, thank you. YES you are so right...i am "bone tired" with extreme fatigue. Today first day feel like typing. How do you get iron infusions? I've had Meyers cocktails before via infusion. I don't think any vitamins are being absorbed.

Gustokitty, yes I'm on a strict diet. No gluten or dairy and already did an elimination diet. I'm eating cream of rice and need to get some more bone broth. I've taken every med they have prescribed but that's only throwing meds at the symptoms, not treating the cause. Taking panroprazole taken maalox, antacid, gasx,thx for input

Can you tell me what diagnostic they used to find It? And, what treatment you received besides the infusions and transfusions?

"Cameron lesions are usually found in older adults with anemia symptoms such as fatigue, shortness of breath, and appearing pale. Blood tests in iron deficiency show low hemoglobin, microcytic hypochromic red cells, and low iron-binding saturation and ferritin levels. The lesions are visualized by esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Sometimes the lesions are found when endoscopy is done for other hernia symptoms than anemia such as heartburn, regurgitation, swallowing difficulty, pain or distention.[9] When a person with iron deficiency anemia is found to have a large hernia and Cameron lesions on endoscopy, this usually explains the blood loss. A lower gastrointestinal bleeding site such as colon cancer may be excluded by colonscopy. and other tests as clinically indicated."

Apparently these lesions can heal and then reoccur resulting in intermittent blood loss and an inability to locate the source of the problem. And, some doctors are not familiar with this issue and don't know what to look for/or what they are looking at during the esophagogastroduodenoscopy.

J - I am so sorry that you are having such a horrible time. I can't even imagine how tired you must feel. At least, it seems that part of the puzzle has been solved. It makes me mad that you went to ER so many times as none of those genius doctors figured this out sooner. After reading the symptoms of acute gastritis, it all makes sense. I hope that getting to the source of the blood loss is quick so you can get back to feeling a bit better. Sending good thoughts, much support and hugs your way.

Aww.... this stuff sounds awful. Sending tons of HUGS your way. I remember when I had lots of bloody stools years ago. Not long after being dx with an ulcer, but the colonoscopy didn't show much. Scary stuff. I hope the docs keep looking and running tests so they can get you on a path to healing.

J.P., I went to Mayo Clinic here in MN. They did a barium X-Ray and found a five inch hospital hernia and my stomach up in my chest cavity. I had surgery five years ago. Other doctor's had done scans, Xrays, even the camera pill and endoscopies and found nothing. I feel so much better now! No more anemia, no more heartburn, no more reflux! I hope your doctor's find your cure soon! Gentle, warm hugs to you!

Thx Nettie, that's so frustrating, the hospital refused to do a barium xray...i have begged them many times, so have to get from doctor.

I think i need to work on getting all my tests and results in a binder to bring to my pcp. nothing's ever easy with me, ugh.

Fantod, i do have consistent low mcv, mhch, hemoglobin (was 9 when i had gallbladder surgery), and hemocratic, and always low rbc. I beginning to wonder if it could be autoimmune that i've had all my life and just got real bad with all work stress. speaking of which....back to it.

They put me on a medicine called aciphex. It healed but my gut hasn't been the same since that ulcer. Always upset, constant IBS and gerd problems.

J- I got the iron infusions from my oncologist/rheumatologist. My lowest blood count was a 4. That time I was given 2 units of blood in the hospital. If your count is down to a 9, I think that you

JP, I'm so sorry you're going through this!! I am an anemic girl ever since my teens. Now some (ehem) years later I still struggle with it and recently this past couple of years dealing with what you are calling "bone tired". I call it dying inside. Where I feel like I sometimes could just drop over dead.
