Good morning! Now that I've figured out the hotel wi-fi (again), how was your weekend? Mine was... Well, we vac'd the house every morning to wake up flea eggs and suck up dead ones. We hung around. Today, Hubby goes to the house solo to deal with Mr. Plumber, b/c I cannot do so without trying to dial a lawyer and threatening lawsuits and similar. Also, I don't think my PTSD and I can cope with seeing him tear up more of our ceiling. I know me. I'll go all Job Boss to cope, and he'll get all shirty because hey, women don't know this stuff (he's one of *those*).... Yeah. Gotta play it meek and mild. Thus, I can't be there... C'mon, the avatar is apuma for a reason. I'm very shy. Till yous tep on my tail. Then? Not so much.

In 1609, Henry Hudson sailed down a big old river that is now called the Hudson River. Henry got around. A bay, a river... Not bad.
Today in 1866, America's first burlesque show opened. Appropriately, in New York City. Rather oddly, nammed "The Black Crook", and it wasn't about race... I'll jsut say "ew" and move on.
The TV show "Lassie" ab out the ever-faithful collie debuted in 1954 on NBC and ran utnil 1971. Yes, they used more than one dog to play Lassie in that time. Rather ironically, even girls couldn't catch a break in canine Hollywood. Lassie was played by a laddie. (Thus explaining why we never see Lassie taken for her walk, or we'd see *her* doing *his* business. Oy.) INteressting note: The dog to originally play Lassie was poorly behaved, and the owners eventually surrendered him to the trainer after deciding they preferred a no-collie home. Unsurprising, as collies are herding dogs, and tend to need a lot to do or they get bored. I've seen even mixed collies try to follow their bred-in tendency and herd *geese*. (Ended poorly on all sides. My poor dog just didn't understand geese don't want to be herded. Then her dash of "all that not-collie" kicked in and she went and "pointed" like a bird dog. And there was Saint Bernard in there too. Still miss her.)
Starfruits are also called carambolas. Random tidbit there.
One of the most popular art prints of teh 1980s? Renoir's "Luncheon of the Boating Party". I was surprised, btw, b/c when I went to college, everyone had a print of Monet's blasted water lilies. Seriously. Everywhere the water lilies. I still don't see the appeal. The print, I eman. I saw real-life-in-person on canvas Monets about a decade ago at an exhibit, and you see the appeal *then*. The print just flattens it into a blur. Weird, but that's "art".

OK, time to grab a shower and face the day. Hope you all had a good weekend:_)

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
My weekend was awesome! Spent a little too much time hiking, still don't know my limits yet. I won't be doing anything but laundry today. Mom is getting irritated because I "don't do anything". Riiiiiight.... She's just irritated because I'm not waiting on her right now! So frustrating! I went up to Bridal Veil Falls (called that for a reason) and got pics that didn't turn out on Sat and Sun so I have to go back on Wed. Hopefully I have better luck. What's happening is the camera says it's full but when I get it home and plug it into the computer it says it's empty. Go freaking figure!! I know, boo who lol. I'll get the pics eventually. They are for my book so I have to get them.
Oy! I might not even be doing laundry today. My body hurts!! Went up to the Grotto which is a half mile hike to get there (but well worth it) but I did it two days in a row and now I'm dying!! Time to make coffee and go potty
Precious. that does sound like a lot of walking, and you are being a trooper about having to do it again so soon. It would make me cry if I find out I had to go back and do the pictures all over again. I'm sorry your mom is being hard on you. I wish she understood we don't choose this life.
Ida, I'm glad you went to church yesterday. You are lucky with your husband for sure. I hope you enjoy this last full day of rest before babysitting on Wed & Thur.
Blue, I'm glad you went to church despite everything you are going through. It sounds like you were experiencing anxiety yesterday. Hugs
I needed church yesterday, and it was a nice sermon. Today I'm feeling pretty alone and anxiety filled. This pain just doesn't let up. I'm about to take my girls to school and turn in the evaluation test I had to fill out for Addison. I see the chiropractor at lunch today and tomorrow, and then therapy on Wednesday. It's all too much! I'm so tired and in pain.
I hope everyone has the strength to make it through their day!
Precious, sounds like you were busy. I've seen waterfalls so beautiful they take your breath away. Good luck with the book. Please don't overdo it!
I had such an issue with my back yesterday that I couldn't move without shooting pain. I stayed in bed or on the couch all day, trying to not lay on it. I knew it was coming because all week my back had been hurting a little worse every day. I lost a whole day. I couldn't knit or read because I couldn't concentrate through the pain. So, a new low for me. Ugh. I still hurt today but I gave things I must do. I'll go slow. It's hard to work through this level of pain.
I really hope everyone's weekend was ok and that this week is better.
I think we should form some kind of fibro-gang and surround that plumber until he repairs all of the damage that he caused! I had a similar incident with an issue caused by a garage while they were doing other work on my truck. They fixed what they broke and billed me for it! After threats and arguing, I still ended up paying half...didn't have the time or energy to go to court.
Preciousbabygirl,
It's just to d*&m easy to overdo it. I hope that you are able to find some relief there today!
Speaking of overdoing it...I did just that. Just started to feel a little better so I thought I'd test it...not the brightest bush in the lake (hmmmm, how does that go again?). I have nothing planned for the next week....and will try to keep that schedule!
Hope everyone has a low pain Monday!
Kel
Precious, I have laundry to do today too. Good that you have Leo's back. I'm sure she appreciates it. Have a good day.
I woke up at 3:30 with major neck pain and stiffness. I put on some peppermint cream and the heating pad. It did help quite a bit. It's chilly this morning, and I need to go to the bank, and then pick up an RX. I would really rather stay home.
Tomorrow, about 2pm, I'm driving to my son's. I will only be babysitting for 2 days, then going home Friday morning. Hubby is working Saturday too this week, so he won't be home until that night.
That's about it for now. I think it's allergies that is bugging me. My eye is all but healed, so I'm doing well.
later......
I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling alone and anxious. Sending you gentle (((hugs))) of support. We're all in this together and do understand.
Bobbii,
I had some fairly severe back pains yesterday when I was pickling fish. Must be something going around. I hope that it eases for you today.
idajoy,
The Vikes lucked into a win yesterday too. Not sure that the QB situation will be all that great even with Bradford...only time will tell. Hope your bbsitting goes good for you.
Precious, sorry your body hurts. Hopefully you can rest it today.
Twin, I am sorry your pain just won’t let up. It makes me incredibly sad. I hope the school gets their heads on straight and starts making accommodations for Addison. It sounds like you have a busy week this week with appointments. I still have to schedule mine with the Rheumy and Neuro that I canceled last month. Oh and find a new PCP. I hope the chiro helps lessen your pain today. Remember we are all here to help support you mentally when your hubby isn’t.
Oh Bobbii! How can one person cause so many issues? Holy crap! I hope your back pain is feeling better today. I am sure you have a million things to do, so hopefully resting for a day was the answer. I am sure coughing doesn’t help either. Please take care of yourself.
Kel, we should gang up on the plumber, then when he is through there he can go to Bobbii’s to fix her pipe! We can always count on you to test the limits. It just stinks that that causes so much pain. Keep your calendar clear so maybe you will feel better by next weekend. It is easier said than done, I know.
Ida, good luck on your errands. I am hoping they won’t take too long and you will be back and able to rest up for babysitting. Yay for your eye being healed, boo for the allergies. The goldenrod here is everywhere. Take it easy today.
Blue, I think your rapid heart beat is probably anxiety. But don’t let it go on too long without getting checked out.
Well, I survived the weekend! I even backed the camper up! I did require help to get it hooked up though. So, I know I can do it now. But I really never wanted to know! lol After such a painful Saturday, it was very hot that night and our lab was up until around 5am. I think I slept an hour prior to that. I am not sure if it was sundowners or if he was just too hot. My sister came and was good to me and helpful. Sonny’s bike sprang a gas leak, so he didn’t fair too well. It was in the 40’s here last night so sleeping was great. However, when I lay on my left I through pre-ventricular contractions (PVC’s) and was doing so about every 4 beats. Finally it stopped. Not my heart, the PVC’s. Throwing them again at work today too. Hubby told me to keep track of them because too many in a minute can be very bad! Maybe it is anxiety? IDK Today is just another day in paradise at work. I would rather be home recovering from the weekend!
I hope today is kind to all of you.
It was a busy weekend around here. My partner moved the fridge and freezer in the garage. He cleaned behind them. Then he emptied the freezer and dragged it out onto the driveway and took the hose to it. When it was defrosted and sparkly clean, he put it back and reloaded it. I'd love to replace this freezer with a frost free model but it is a commercial freezer and heavy duty. When it dies, I'll get a frost free unit. Meanwhile, I was cupboard cleaning in the kitchen. I also had him move the stove and fridge so that I could clean behind them.
Other than that, it was laundry as usual and a bit of swimming for me. He spent yesterday working on the driveway. It is very large and asphalt. He fills cracks pretty regularly but we are getting ready for sealcoating. So, this requires extra scrutiny and a lot of "artwork" with liquid tar. He wants to pick up one more gallon of liquid tar to doodle with and we should be ready to go for the sealcoating. This time of year always seem to be jam packed with projects to get ready for the cold weather. The pool will probably come down in two weeks. I will be sorry to see it go.
Leo - I guess today will provide some clarification on the plumbing issue. If it is galvanized, it may have been badly corroded from age and the plumbers snake just finished it off before it could start leaking. I assume that the claims adjuster will be around to determine what actually happened. I think that your plan to stay put at the hotel is a good one. Monet is not one of my favorites either. I have seen his work in person and it does look much different than pictures. I just don't like the tonal qualities. Oddly enough, I love J.M.W. Turner which I have also seen in person. His treatment of light just fascinates me.
Precious - Your hike was killing me while I read about it. I'm sorry that your pictures didn't come out. I'll be doing laundry today too. Have a good one!
TwinMom - I'm sorry that you are feeling alone and in so much pain. I can understand why you are upset about Addison's situation and having to deal with that. The school sounds like they are making things difficult for no reason other than they can. I hope that your day goes by quickly so you can get home. Sending you good thoughts, hugs and I have a dump truck full of chocolate chips headed for your office! Stand by....hahaha!
Bobbii - I'm sorry that your back was so darn painful! That sounds terrible! I wouldn't be too happy with the folks in WV either. Who breaks pipes and attic stairs??!! I hope that you can get those situations resolved quickly and the house closed on. Take it easy today and I hope that your back lets up soon.
Hi Kel - Somehow, I knew you were going to do *something* over the weekend. Try to give yourself a break this week lol. How is Mr. Sparty? You haven't said much about him lately. I hope you have a good day!
Ida - I just know that you were glued to the TV watching your beloved football games. Me, not so much. I think that the Lions won and that is all I know about football this weekend. Mercifully, my partner does not watch sports except maybe some of the super bowl. Glad to hear that your eye is better! Don't overdo it today so that you are ready for the drive tomorrow.
Laundry is working and I am contemplating a movie rather than staying home and doing some more of the cleaning that I never got done this spring. I did do some genealogy this weekend which was very enjoyable. I could see whiling away a few hours this afternoon working on that as well...hmmmm. Hello to BBMom (I hope that you are OK after that lifting!!), Blue, AngelaJo and Sonya. The sun is shining which is something to be grateful for today! Hugs!
Guess what? The plumber broke our toilets! He went into the drain to look at the pipe via the hubby's toilet (having removed it and then dropped it and broke a few floor tiles and cracked the toilet), then his snake ended up in *my* bathroom's toilet, and it broke completely. Crunch. The toilet, that is.
Then it turns out he never broke the sewage pipe. He couldn't grasp that the *baths* were clogged up, and so he ended up screwing up the sewage and it backed up under the toilet flanges, seeping into the soffitt and then through our ceiling. Yay? I'm just grateful I sealed around the flanges well, so that the seepage went *down* and didn't go into the sublfoor! *whew*
And the clog that was originally the problem? Just an everyday clog that was in one of the dog-legs in the pipes, and took two minutes to fix now that he was looking in the right pipe. *headdesk*
He is paying for our new toilets, anf the insurance guy is there right now, an dthe'yll cover some stuff, so we're only "on the hook" so far for the hotel.
We're staying here another night. ARGH.
OK, in no particular order:
Bobbi, OMG, is the appraiser in WVrelated to my plumber?!
Kel, oh no! Thou shalt not overdo! First commandment of FIbro!
Presh, geez, I'm worn out just thinking of that hiking, and I used to love hiking.
Twin, gentlest vibes....
Ida, my team plays tonight, hope we get a good result, too. Go easy on yourself:-)
B ball, please take care, okay? Please?
Fan, oh geez, you did a lot! I'm pooped just reading!
Hello to everyone I missed or will miss, and I am sitting quietly waiting for the next phone call from Hubby to ask me details about a situation I am not even present at. Oh, and the plumber sure as heck knows I am on his butt. I made sure to tell him, "I know what galvanized pipe is, I know what my pipes are, and they're not galvanized steel, the'yre copper where they're not cast iron (the sewage pipe). You're going to tarp over everything to minimize our clean-up, and if there's any moisture damage, you pay for what the insurer doesn't if there's any chance of mold or worse." Soooo.. then I returned to the hotel, and heard about the toilets, and told Hubby to keep me away from that idiot plumber.
The rest of this week will be clean-up and then... find a drywall guy the insurer will approve. *headdesk*
No stress. Really.
ida, your neck sounds like mine. I'm so sorry. I've been dealing with lots of neck and back pain lately beyond the normal fibro and arthritis pain. I'm glad the peppermint helps yours. I like the menthol stop pain roll-on. I hope your allergies get better. I deal with lots of that.
Kel, thanks for my hugs of support. I'm sorry you overdid it this weekend and you are still in so much pain. Keep that schedule empty this week, okay?
BBmom, thank you so much for the support and kind words! I know you go through a lot of pain too b/c we have to keep going and get things done with our kids and work. I hope work is treating you well today and that you get some rest after a busy and hard weekend. You need more sleep! Sorry
Fantod, wow a dump truck of chocolate chips now! You are so sweet! The school is trying to only make things harder, and I don't understand it. Maybe they are understaffed and have too many IEP request this year, but I can't make my daughters autism go away. It's just not right. I hope you catch a movie this afternoon, especially after cleaning over the weekend. Hugs and chocolate for you!
I saw the chiro and I don't feel much relief, but I actually feel some in my face from him adjusting my neck. Of course, now my nose and checks feel a little numb. This is so weird.
