Good morning! Now that I've figured out the hotel wi-fi (again), how was your weekend? Mine was... Well, we vac'd the house every morning to wake up flea eggs and suck up dead ones. We hung around. Today, Hubby goes to the house solo to deal with Mr. Plumber, b/c I cannot do so without trying to dial a lawyer and threatening lawsuits and similar. Also, I don't think my PTSD and I can cope with seeing him tear up more of our ceiling. I know me. I'll go all Job Boss to cope, and he'll get all shirty because hey, women don't know this stuff (he's one of *those*).... Yeah. Gotta play it meek and mild. Thus, I can't be there... C'mon, the avatar is apuma for a reason. I'm very shy. Till yous tep on my tail. Then? Not so much.

In 1609, Henry Hudson sailed down a big old river that is now called the Hudson River. Henry got around. A bay, a river... Not bad.
Today in 1866, America's first burlesque show opened. Appropriately, in New York City. Rather oddly, nammed "The Black Crook", and it wasn't about race... I'll jsut say "ew" and move on.
The TV show "Lassie" ab out the ever-faithful collie debuted in 1954 on NBC and ran utnil 1971. Yes, they used more than one dog to play Lassie in that time. Rather ironically, even girls couldn't catch a break in canine Hollywood. Lassie was played by a laddie. (Thus explaining why we never see Lassie taken for her walk, or we'd see *her* doing *his* business. Oy.) INteressting note: The dog to originally play Lassie was poorly behaved, and the owners eventually surrendered him to the trainer after deciding they preferred a no-collie home. Unsurprising, as collies are herding dogs, and tend to need a lot to do or they get bored. I've seen even mixed collies try to follow their bred-in tendency and herd *geese*. (Ended poorly on all sides. My poor dog just didn't understand geese don't want to be herded. Then her dash of "all that not-collie" kicked in and she went and "pointed" like a bird dog. And there was Saint Bernard in there too. Still miss her.)
Starfruits are also called carambolas. Random tidbit there.
One of the most popular art prints of teh 1980s? Renoir's "Luncheon of the Boating Party". I was surprised, btw, b/c when I went to college, everyone had a print of Monet's blasted water lilies. Seriously. Everywhere the water lilies. I still don't see the appeal. The print, I eman. I saw real-life-in-person on canvas Monets about a decade ago at an exhibit, and you see the appeal *then*. The print just flattens it into a blur. Weird, but that's "art".

OK, time to grab a shower and face the day. Hope you all had a good weekend:_)

Welcome to the Perseid meteor showers, the "biggies" usually every year. (The Leonids beat 'em one year IMHO).AND today much of the northern hemisphere will see 5 to 99% solar eclipse. How cool is that? Your best bet is to be in the UK or norhtern Spain, where totality is excellent before sundown. Me, I'll get a super duper tiny itty bitty slice of it, so little that it won't be noticeable. New...

... observed a solar eclipse.

Fantod, I hope you get to a movie today. I just can't clean cupboards out. I need to but man all of the reaching really bothers me. I would LOVE someone to come even wipe down the outsides and do my walls too. I agree, fall is busy trying to ready everything for winter. Which will happen sooner than I would like.
Twin, I am sorry the chiro didn't help a lot. Please take care of yourself.
Okay, off to my least favorite part of my job. Faculty meetings. YUCK!
I happen to feel miserable right now. I think my first thought that this is a virus of some kind was probably correct. Could be a sinus infection starting up again. I have taken some DayQuil, and am going to rest. I ran my errands, and am sure glad I'm done with that. Ugh, my head feels like it weighs a ton....if that makes sense. I can't get out of babysitting tomorrow, as my son has no one else to ask. Their babysitter, and back-up sitter are busy, and they don't want to use the old sitter that there were problems with. So grandma to the rescue. I sure hope I feel better by tomorrow.
Hi to Blue, sonya, Angela, Bear, Lizzy......and anyone else I may be forgetting. I may drop in later to read any new posts.
I was up at 6 AM on here with the intentions of reading and checking in but then..... more talk with the husband occurred. Anyway.....
Leo, oh no! A broken a toilet now, too! AAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! Is this the same plumber who did all the other mess, too? I think you guys should fire him and try someone one else. :(
If all this heart pounding and / or feeling like my chest wants to cave in is anxiety, it's the 1st time I've ever had physical symptoms of anxiety like this. I usually just have racing thoughts, tight muscles, maybe IBS, etc. But I've never felt like I'm having a heart attack before. Ugh... the heart attack like symptoms continue today.
After booting my husband out of the bedroom last night, I told him it's because I'm suffering from a broken heart. He looked at me funny. He said, "Well you just need a little time." I told him I didn't want to start an argument but 'a little time' won't fix this. This morning he wanted to talk more. He said, "Of course you are important to me, I built you a catio." I told him just because you do something nice for someone doesn't give you the right to treat that person like they are beneath you. I can't believe I had to sit him down and explain the difference between a maid and wife. OMG. Told him it's not my responsibility to stay on top of the cleanliness of the house. If he sees something dirty, PICK UP A STINKING BROOM AND CLEAN! Don't go cussing at me. I'm a WIFE, not a maid. Holy sh*t. I told him if I held the position of a wife to him (in his mind and heart), he wouldn't be so disrespectful to me.
Anyway, I've got acupuncture today. Did I mention I booked a B&B for my upcoming birthday? I booked 3 nights at a lovely B&B that has jacuzzi hot tubs in each bed room. Yes, I get my own private hot tub, baby. And every morning the kitchen serves platters of fresh fruit. Yum. I can't wait to give myself a nice little vacation. My husband seemed frowny faced that he wasn't included in the deal.
I read a few posts here and there.... I'll respond shortly.
I saw my Doctor i been seeing since mine left the practice, since March, shes internal medicine and very much believes in fibro. Well her nurse today, when she asked where i hurt and i said well all over i have fibro and other severe chronic pain and i am never out of pain. She said fibro is not real, everyone has fibro now days, she said its not real, doctors just say it because they are too lazy to find the real cause or people make it up to get out of doing things. I was taken a back, i just told her that i am glad she doesnt have to have it and under stand it.
So far the plumber lives, b/c the insurance agent cut us a check today to cover mold prevention, drywall, you name it. *jaw drop* And the plumber has to cover a lot else, So ew're hugely relieved.
It's almost 5, c'mon, folks, we can do this! (5 PM Eastern US time zone, that is).
I vote we all find ourselves a B&B and get a just-for-me jacuzzi:-) Yah!
OK, what the heck? I can't send the reply. DS, don't you mess with the kitty! *tail lash*
Bobbii, I'm flabbergasted. They better be paying for damages! Healing hugs for your back. I hate that.
Kel , I agree about us ganging up on Leo's plumber. Starting to wander where he got his certification.
Fantod, that's so much! But I love it when htings are clean. Hi-five that partner for me.
Precious, glad you had fun hiking.
Angela, screw that nurse! i've heard docs say dumb crap like that. Ugh, I get so pumped up.
Milily, glad your ex is in another state. Jeepers.
Ida, I can't blame you for doing that to them. I would have done the same to have a little me time. Gosh.
Blessings....
Hey, I've got an idea, let's send my (erstwhile) plumber to Mlilly's ex! YAH! Karma!
No guilt, people, we have to be able to *live*, not just crawl through... Take the chance to chill out, okay?
Last night of peace for me, so I'm sucking it for all it is worth like it's a nice ripe friut!
Hi puppymom!
Oh, mililiy...I remember your awful ex. Do what you can to keep him from being able to call you.
Leo, you need my husband at your house for your repairs. He can fix anything, and his forte is troubleshooting. You would have never had all that happen with my hubby. He hasn't had to travel to Virginia yet, though. :)
I thought I was feeling better, but then the DayQuil wore off. I'm back to the stuffed up head feeling. I went to the NyQuil now, so I will probably fall asleep soon. I've been up since 3:30am. I really am wanting to watch Monday night football though. Enjoy the Steelers, Leo!
