I just glanced at my mail and saw this study from mayo clinic that moderate drinking can help fibro pain.
I didn't bring up the article, but when I read it my first thought was
oh yes, I remember my younger years and partying they were never painful ESP after a few drinks. Now I need to go back and see what it says about meds and drinking, do we have to get blasted not to feel pain or just a few shots will do it.
I really don't feel I want to be a moderate drinker.
Tomorrow I will find the article again and read it thru.

This isn't really bipolar related but there is never anyone on the parenting groups, this is the most active group I've been in.My 6yr old son has really bad seasonal allergies and they're in full force right now. Is anyone here allergic to Sulfa that is currently taking Diamox? I have been diagnosed with IH now for almost 2 years. I am allergic to Sulfa drugs meaning that my throat will swell up so my Neurologist put me on Topamax. I was suffering from major loud whoosing noises and the topamax helped that but everyday I still hear those mainly between 6 - 12 pm. I am at my wits end and have not went...
I absolutely CANNOT drink whiskey, bourbon or scotch...causes pain & has since I was in college. I don't even try it anymore, not even in a mixed drink. Vodka & tequila don't seem to affect me adversely but I don't drink either anymore because of my meds.
And beer...well the only way I can drink beer anyway is if it icy icy cold & I'm eating something spicy, but I really don't like beer very much anyway.
I think a lot of it depends on how much & what kind of meds you take. I'm taking enough that I really don't think alcohol would be a good thing for me...except for that rare glass of wine :)
Alas, for me, I can not drink. I used to enjoy drinking whiskey, beer, and some wines. After developing Fibro, first to go was wine: one glass can give me a major migraine. Next was whiskey: migraine, now I can have 1 watered down light beer, but any more and I hurt all over.
What really intrigues me is what it,is in alcohol that will reduce pain levels. Thanks for the info Magic One. I will read more in it
