Since I was diagnosed with the Fibo I am not able to take hot showers and can not tolerate this heat. When I do go outside I get very light headed. My Rehab Dr. sent me to Aqua therapy anyway. The day I went, it was 98 degrees outside so i was already light headed when I went but they still wanted me to get in the pool. I was not able to stay in it for very long. Thought I was going to pass out. When I got out of the pool my lower back immediately gave me horrible pain which lasted 3 days. Saw the Dr. 3 days later. He said Fibo patients usually don't have this problem. Seems like the hotter the weather gets, the more pain I have.So now he is having me just try and walk a couple of minutes a day for 6 weeks and then try and do some more physical therapy.

Heat and cold intolerance (one or the other, sometimes both) are extremely common among fibromyalgia patients - it's amazing that your doctor doesn't know that.

I believe that the Citalopram that I take plays a part in making me more intolerant to heat. One of the side effects is heavy sweating. I am going to talk to my doc to see if I can get switched to Setraline (Zoloft). I have been on Citalopram for 12 yrs now and need a change.
I also get nauseated in the heat, even if the oven is on. I have to get out of the room and go near a fan.
In the winter, I am also the same way, I can't turn the heat up past 68 degrees F. If I do then I get nauseated and dizzy.
My dad was also very intolerant to heat so it may be a genetic thing with me or it can be the Citalopram along with fibro.
