We are not crazy and it's all in our heads. In our brains. If nothing else would prove it to me, this is it. Talk about a messed up thermostat! I don't like heat or cold. If the temperature could stay at 65 degrees for the rest of my life, that would be fine. Well, during the day anyway. I like it really cold at night, so I can put lots of covers on. They make me feel safe (you never know what's lucking under that bed, you know). I can't take cold, especially if it is really cold water I'm drinking or if it hits my back !!!!! EEK~!!!!.
The more I read about our symptoms, I have most of them, too, the more I am convinced that it must be the brain. What else could cause so many strange and unrelated symptoms?
I had been blaming this sweating thing on menopause, even though I went through all that 20 years ago. Every doctor I talked to said that it MUST be menopause and that some people never get over it. Or through it. Now, after reading these posts lately about how everyone has these sweating attacks after showing, I'm convinced that, once again, IT'S THE FIBRO. I, too have these sweats where the sweat just drips off my head like I had my own personal cloud over me. I was taking classes a couple of years ago and I was a big joke in the room. I just laughed and said, 'Menopause, you know." But now I know. There is not a single part of me that isn't effected by this. I think the lightheadedness and feeling faint is the worst, especially when that comes on really quickly. It really does feel like an attack. I wish you all could move to Northern California. We have the best weather. Even if it's hot during the day, most night, we in the high 40's/low 50's. There's no way I'd ever move away from this weather.

Not so much heat but light, noise, fabric, chemical, strong odor, perfume, scented detergent, sensitive/intolerant. I also have an allergy to formaldehyde, latex, blue dyes and red dyes.

I love hot tubs and strong showers most of the time. Just the thought of taking a shower tires me out ....there's the washing of my hair (holding arms up for a long time hurts).... and drying (sensitive to the towel fabric)....sigh (lol).

I've experienced many of those symptoms. Some times I feel like I'm going to die when my heart starts jumping out of my chest and a few other symptoms. I've been in that coma like state in extreme heat for days and could not rise from the bed.

Its wierd for me because it use to be the cold, now I can barely stand to be in the hot heat, when its hot I get sooooo sick and am flat in bed. I personally believe its hard for my body temp to stay regulated. Its super hard but I make it work, anything outside I wait till it cools down, dont overdue it so I dont regret it in the a.m. just always have an escape, cold water, a.c. , Cold fruit to munch on while your outside, unbrella, cold cloth.. I hope you get feeling better soon.. :) naynay

This summer has been a hot one here in VA - and is going to be in the mid 90's for at least another month. It's been a difficult one. We had the heatwave a few weeks ago that was torture! Even being indoors with the A/C and a fan going and drinking ice water etc. makes me sick.

Your thermostat JUST MIGHT be broken. I have a friend and hers truly is. She can't handle the heat nor the very cold. It's terrible. Sounds like she has a case of the Fibro's to me!

I live in Alabama an it is horrible. Right now the temps in the days are in the 100's. And yes that is the temp not the the heat index. I am about to die!!!!!!!

I don't understand the temperature sensitivity/fibromyalgia link in the absence of other disorders. But kelbel73, for you, some of that probably is from the thyroid. Also, from the info on the profile and in the page 2 post, I suspect autonomic dysfunction, via Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. That can cause Chiari malformation and more. Please look into it.

I has been so hot here....I walk around feeling dizzy and nausua all the time...this morning when I got up I couldn't walk without hanging onto something and using a cane. It's terrible....after I'm up for a while it gets better....I hate this heat and can't wait for winter, at least in winter I can add more clothes and use the heating pad...

Can't take the heat. Have my ac running all day lately. Nights are cool enough, thank goodness. Cold hurts, as someone said, but heat makes me collapse. Even hot tubs and showers, no more. Too exhausting.

We are like The Princess & The Pea, too sensitive to life all together. Tomorrow I'm going to ride a warm train, for sure the ac won't be working well. What I will go through to hug my surviving son, only other fibros can contemplate. Heat, noise, stairs, crowds, all that I try to avoid I am going towards, just for a warm hug and lunch.
