Hyper barometer chamber????

I just can't think of the word. Friend posted an article about how it helps and even cures fibro. Anyone tried this? Thought I'd go straight to the real sources. Can't for the life of me think of what it is called Oxygen Chamber???? Any real research on this???

We discussed hyperbaric oxygen treatment not too long. Use the "search discussions" to find the thread.

Bottom line is insurance won't cover this treatment. It is very expensive. And, you must continue treatment or the effect is lost. Take care.

Here is a link to an article about the hyperbaric chamber. It seems to be very promising. As Fantod has stated it can be quite costly. Some places offer a pay as you go service. Other places will give you a discount for buying a set quantity up front. It generally will take a minimum of 40 treatments and then periodic maintenance doses for some. The researchers found that patients who had traumatic brain injury along with their fibromyalgia completed recovered and didn't need maintenance doses. Others, needed periodic maintenance doses to maintain the effect.

There are soft chambers and hard chambers. The ones used in the scientific study were hard chambers. Hard chambers are found at hospitals or free standing centers. Soft chambers are considered less effective by some. Soft chambers can be purchased for home usage.

I'll get excited when there's peer review and a larger study - this one was very small. "70 percent" of those who actually got the treatment is 17 participants, unless I'ms screwing up my math, which is entirely possible. 48 women completed the study, half of those received the treatments, and 70 percent of those...

Anybody know of any studies other than this one?

There is another study that I know of, but it's a small sample as well. The results look promising though. I know this treatment has proved successful in treating a variety of conditions such as: decompression syndrome, anemia, wound healing, bone infection, compartment syndrome, diabetic ulcers. The insurance will cover these conditions, but treatments for fibromyalgia, lyme, chronic fatigue syndrome and a whole host of other conditions are considered off label treatment and are not covered by insurance.
