remember I was talking about my friend I've been hanging out? and I wasn't sure how to explain all the nitty gritty details about fibro?

ok so i went to the library and found this awesome book called "The Everything Health Guide to Fibromyalgia" by Winnie Yu. and it's really awesome! it has everything from how to find a good doctor, & make a list of questions and complaints before your appt, they list medications, supplements, explains all the symptoms (including brain fog, morning stiffness, the exhaustion, muscle pain, etc). It EVEN has a chapter on supportive friendships! and how you "only need" supportive friends and relationships, and that you should probably cut ties with ones that cause stress. it also has a section on mourning your diagnosis and how you can start to deal with it. I LOVE this book.

i think every person that has fibro AND all their close friends and family should have a copy. then you wouldn't have to explain so much! some of our doctors should even have a copy! it's sad when you think our docs should get one....
ok, so i called him and told him about it and I would really appreciate it if he got a copy so he could better understand me and what i'm going through. I guess that day I called him was a bad day cause he told me he had been off his anti depressants and was feeling "lost and weird". so I told him to think about it once he got back on his meds.
the other day we were hangin out and the subject came up again, we talked about the book again. he hasn't given me a definite answer yet as to whether he'll get it. next time I get him on the phone I'll ask him. otherwise, i may start cooling off the friendship. opinions?

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

voodoogal may be right. It could be social anxiety disorder. My sister has it and I've gotta say that maintaining a good relationship with her is difficult. She is not a selfish person, she's actually very caring and kind, but she doesn't have any friends and sometimes she calls and wants to go on about the minutia of her life and if I'm having a bad day it can be a real strain. Whatever the problem is, I would have an honest discussion with him about the problems you are having with the relationship. Either he hears you out and is willing to do something to make things less stressful for you or he won't be willing (or able) to bring some sensitivity and equity to the situation. At that point you can make an informed decision about whether you want to continue the relationship. Either way, you get less stress.
My husband would never read a book. Not a reader anyway and if it's longer than a short magazine article, he's not gonna read it. I give him information in small doses, giving the credentials of the author or information about the study first. I also make sure that he's not trying to multitask when I talk to him. Men are notoriously bad multitaskers. If he's watching TV or thinking about work, he won't hear a word I say. We've been together 30 years, so I don't take it personally. I have a lot of info bookmarked so I can call it up quickly if I find an opportunity to 'share' some information.
Thanks for the book link. I'm always on the lookout for good information.
that reminds me, he did tell our chronic pain psychologist recently that for years he thought no one understood him till he met ME. I was thrown off when he said that and didn't expect it (was also a little embarrassed). does what he said kinda fit into what you are talkin about, voodoo and CSD?
