Good shoes for FM?

I am working as a hostess again this summer. For the past couple of months I've really been battling the pain. I only worked four hours today and can still hardly walk! My feet and legs are throbbing then it moves up my whole body! I am told I need support hose, I am going to try to find some that is affordable. A lady I know with FM said her dr. told her to wear Crocs RX. I am wearing a Crocks knock off. They are very comfortable but apparently not what I need. This lady's dr also told her NOT to wear tennis shoes. I do have a hard time with tennis shoes. I am extremely flat footed. My dream shoes are Z coils but those are so expensive. What kind of shoes do you suggest?

I just bought a pair of orthaheels. I never ever would pay $50 plus for a pair of flip flops in the past but let me tell you. My hips and legs hurt a lot less wearing the orthaheel than the crocs. Look into them, I also think they make walking shoes in all sorts of widths.

I justified the cost to hubby by saying maybe I won't need another price medicine?

I used to waitress a hundred years ago and always wore support hose. You may be able to find an inexpensive brand at Walmart. As far as shoes go, Crocs are terrible. You need to spend some money and buy a good pair of duty shoes like nurses wear. Yes, they are not attractive but they will protect your feet and legs.

And you might also find one of those Dr. Scholls machines (Walmart again- pharmacy area) and have your feet fitted for an orthotic. Spend the money now and save your feet and legs from a lot more problems as you get older. Take care.

Hi! You do have to find what works for you, that being said,.....what works for me is Nike walkers with high cushioning cost about $40 at Khols, I also buy the dr schoels for planter fashcitus(sp?) at wal-mart for about $8. Hope you find something that helps.

I did buy some Z coils from eBay. I actually got two pair and they are in great shape but.....they hurt my feet. I am thinking maybe some good insoles will take care of that.

I have just found Champion's version of the Shape Up for dirt cheap! I feel like I'm walking on clouds and for the first time in a long while, my feet and legs don't hurt so much. Just left with pins and needles and muscle twitches oh my!

Yes you want some cushiony insoles for the zcoil. The sole is rigid, to distribute the energy across the entire foot, so they are a bit hard. When you by them in the store they build it up with spacers and foam. But a thick Doctor shoals insert should do the trick. That is all I wear now, it makes a big difference.

check out ioffer.com you can get a lot of the name brand stuff for really cheap there if you have your heart set on the z-coils. i personally have some shape-up shoes from LA gear that i adore. i got them online from jc penny for pretty cheap. I also have an old pair of nikes that i love, but that is because i have really HIGH arches and it supports them well.

I wish that I could tell you something positive. I've been trying to find the perfect pair of shoes for years now. Everything causes pain. I've tried the fit~in supports, they don't work for me. Hopefully you will find something to bring comfort and support soon.
