Fibromyalgia Support Group
You're not alone in your pain. Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be difficult to diagnose and manage. If you're trying to cope with pain throughout your body, sleep problems, general fatigue, or other common fibromyalgia symptoms, you're in the right place. The community is here for you to talk about therapies and share your challenges.

Let me start by trying to say that I have been trying to please everyone as of late, when it comes to my fibromyalgia. I haven't told you guys, but this is what I've been doing because of all of the pressure.
I am taking hubby's employer's magic juice, doing acupuncture, their oil rubs and herb teas, and now the latest: a magic blend of 3 essential oils that I put on my feet. I tried it for the first time this evening. And 15 minutes later, I started shaking, was hot, almost passed out, and was short of breath. I made it to the bathroom and washed my feet with soap and water and started to feel better. I've been drinking water like crazy ever since.
I am tired of trying to please everyone who thinks they can cure me. I have been made to feel like I'm not trying by hubby's co-workers, hubby, and others if I don't try all of this witch doctor crap.
Im done. No more. It's my body and I'm in control of it. I am so upset right now. I just want support from others. Is that too much to ask?

404 not foundCSRF token invalid404 not foundI'll be in another room finding my sanity. Just as an FYI, it was a good check-in aout linguistic weirdness, IMO.PUMA POWER

I agree with you. You can't take chances on stuff that might make you sick/er. Tell them to buzz off.
I have decided there are at least 3 types of categories of people in these situations , people that think they are helping you and have good intentions, people who are just trying to sell stuff , and people who are intrusive. I just say I will ask my Dr about that and I usually don't because it is a stupid idea. I have a lot of sensitivities and allergies.
Years back I had to say enough to previous Drs and their constant scripts of this and that as if I am their personal guinea pig or lab rat. More harm than good. My daily meds are for anxiety, depression, and to help sleep deeper and GERD . That is all I am going to take - no more. I have been on them for years, they most of the time help and they are cheap.
Good for you being done with the people pleasing regarding this issue. These decisions are yours to make and without pressure.
Years ago I had a regular massage therapist, she started to try selling me something different with every visit and between that and the massages causing too much pain , I stopped seeing her.
I hope the rest of your night goes well. HUGS
I used to do acupuncture for my chronic migraines but quite honestly cannot imagine doing it now that I have fibro. I have sever hypersensitivity along with my symptoms so pressure, temperature, fabric, all of it effects me to the extreme.
But its the power to kindly decline the offer that is the tough part. I have started just using the excuse that I am already trying a new medicine or dosage with my doctor and dont want to mix remedies. Who knows.
Good luck, hope you have a good rest of your night.
I understand what you're saying because I get it too. I politely say hmmm that's interesting and I don't make any commitment.
It's hard enough getting through the day without this added to it.
I'm glad you felt better after washing your feet and have decided to take control of your own care. You go! Big hugs!
I agree, it is your body and you shouldn't have to try all of this nonsense to prove to people that somethings just don't help.
Feel better.
I'm glad that you were able to wash it all off. I have only used essential oils once on my skin, and that was more of a perfume (black coconut blend). And while I love perfumes, for me, that is the extent of chemicals I can tolerate. But even then, I'm super picky about them. And of course, they are the most expensive ones, LOL.
Anyways, I'm the girly who burns from most chemicals on my skin. I used to contribute it all to being so fair skinned and freckled....but as I age, I know it has more to do with fibro. Cleaning around here must be done with those big industrial size gloves or my hands swell up on me.
And when I was first diagnosed, I had an aunt who was selling a liquid vitamin blend of stuff and while I did get a little energy from it, it was about $80/bottle which didn't even last a month. But I felt like I was a bad little niece and patient that I didn't keep buying it. Hmm, what were her words? Something like "Well you have to pay for your wellness don't you know"....add in that nice little passive aggressive Minnesotian accent and you'll get the hint.
Oh and when the docs wanted me to do the Toxic cleanse.....bought nearly $300 of probiotics and such and I was doubled over for 3 days. Sheer genius that one, she was from the U of M. And the doc who helped me discover my spinal sensitivities with any kind of epidural injections. I had spinal migraines from.
I'm done being their little test dummy.
I'm so very sorry you had this experience. But I get it. And remember anyone trying to sell this stuff on you that all things have a chemical name. (even water). So you need to guard yourself.
I hope your hubby and his coworkers will understand now that they are dealing with chemical and can seriously injure someone. There is liabilities with that. Not that they think of it as such because gee whiz, it's just natural stuff. No...it's not. If that was the case then we'd be healed by simply rubbing oranges across our butt and onions under our pits.
Heal up....feel better....and know that my heart and thoughts are with you as you recover from this.
I do use them, for aroma purposes, and highly diluted, but never anyone else's blends. They mean well, but I don't react well to certain classes of drugs b/c of my epilepsy and the natural plant version of it is still the same chemical compound.... Soooo.... duh, pill or oil or leaf, it's the same thing! Why is that so hard to understand?! Then some people push 'this or that oil, and it's like, "The natives use that for pesticide, why do you want me to use pesticide?!" "Oh but it's ntural!" So is arsenic.... *headdesk* I love natural, but only when it's vetted... Studied...
(I'll note that I like acupuncture for me, but I can't afford it, so haven't don eit in years and I had a good practitioner. Makes the difference, IMO.)
In short: I share your frustration, and hell with 'em all, Ida. You know your body and what works and is safe. They don't. Gentle healing hugs to you.
I told him not to come home with anymore newfangled ideas on help for my fibro from any of his co-workers. Ever. It took me 5 hours to feel normal last night. My emotions are all over the place from pi$$ed to depressed, and back again. And to top it all off, our a/c is not working very well and it's been in the 80s for 2 days. I told my hubby it's hot in here this morning, and he said, no it's not. I'm like, really? Can I have a little validation here.
Anyway, thanks, guys.
