You should definitely report this to your doctor and be looking for something else.

I have had FM for about 7 years now and I have noticed that during a bad crash one of the indicators is swelling and numbness and I tend to get pins and needles easily. I have started to notice that when I get swelling then I need to take it easy or I will most likely have a bad crash but normally by the time I have swelling there is nothing I can do to ward off a mild crash at least.

I have also noticed that when I get this swelling it is in my face, joints and feet, and it is accompanied by pain in varying degrees. I usually find that if I bandage my ankle and wrists and treat the swollen joints as though they are sprained they tend to recover faster than if I just ignore them.

I only have Fibromyalgia at this point and so I can say with almost complete certainty that this IS in fact a Fibro thing. So if I where you I'd rub some massage oil or something on there, (Arnica works well) and wrap it up all snuggly and you should be fine!

I agree with Peace. Swelling is not associated with Fibromyalgia unless it is caused by meds. Since it all seems to be joint related, you need to have your doctor examine other possible causes. There are several other conditions associated with Fibromyalgia that may be causing the problem. Take care.

Agreed that a Doc should check it out, although when I was taking Lyrica my ankles and feet were always swollen. They didn't really hurt though. The pain and swelling of other places doesn't sound like fibromyalgia. I think even the most well intentioned Docs can tend to sweep everything under the fibromyalgia rug. Don't let them.

Maybe this happens to some people, as one of the other posts say, but because it could be many other things, some of them not so nice, I agree that you should see your doctor.

I have only just been diagnosed but I wake up every morning with completely numb hands that feel massive like when an anaesthetic from the dentist is wearing off. I also get swelling in my ankles, knees and hands but I find this is a secondary problem and usually only occurs when I have tried to push through the pain. I also treat these swellings like seperate injurys. Mentioned all this to my rheumy today and he believes it all to be linked with the fibro. Best to get your symptoms checked with the doc though just in case x

I swell up at the joints. I was diagnostic with non-specific connective tissue disorders. But I swell up hands and feet.
