I've had both shots now - Moderna. My position is that the vaccine may prevent me from getting COVID and vented. And, as a responsible adult, I owe it to get one for every person that I may come in contact with.

There is a good chance that people who don't get the vaccine may be barred from public transportation and other venues. Stores. movie theaters and so on are considered private property. They can bar anyone who does not have a vaccine from entering.

It wasn't fun but it is over and done with. Please reconsider your stance.

Covid is way more scary than anything else. Whilst the long-term effects of Covid mimic.... FIBRO! .... the vaccines make *some* people feel rotten for a day or three. Covid can have long-lasting effects on people who don't even feel symptoms.

Unless you have a serious underlying health condition that would *clearly* preclude you from getting the vaccine there is no reason not to do it. And, I'm not even sure what that reason would be at this point,

If your doctor is advising against it with no firm medical basis that is ethically and morally wrong.

If you do have a serious medical issue, get a second opinion first.

What Fan said. E.g., my husband's lymphoma means we have to be careful WHICH vaccine he gets, rather than if he gets vaccinated, simply b/c his immune system may react a bit odd. Otherwise.... what reason does the doctor give? And which vaccine? I know my doc prefers we not get J&J, but prefers Moderna.

I’m with Fantod, I’ve heard some crazy stuff that MDs have said about the vaccine that are frankly wrong. They should give you a firm reason why not that’s specifically related to your medical history. Assuming you’re medically able to get vaccinated, here’s my input:

I’ve had covid twice (mild illness compared to some, but still miserable with symptoms), 11 months apart. Each time I had about a month of very severe fatigue followed by long term moderately worse fatigue and brain fog. In the past month I’ve had 2 migraines, which I’ve never had in my life. May or may not be related to the second covid infection (end of January) but not sure. I’m told long term covid symptoms not only mimic fibromyalgia, but are more common with us. Also, I’m 32 and fairly healthy...obviously I have fibro, also asthma and I suspect something autoimmune but not a severe condition. I got my first Pfizer vaccine a week ago and yes, I had a lot of side effects. Since I already had covid twice my immune system went a little haywire, because it reacts more strongly with each exposure. Still not feeling great but to be brutally honest, a week of being a bit messed up is so much better than even mild covid, and especially better than infecting someone else. Unless there was a glaring red flag and blinking lights telling me I couldn’t get vaccinated, I knew I was getting it and the second I was eligible I got the first appointment I could. The booster is gonna hit me very hard I’m sure, but it will be so worth it to be unlikely to get covid again

I know my position is a little unpopular here. So here goes.
Along with fibro, I have freakishly weird reactions to meds. Lyrica gave me a stroke like reaction to it alone with one pill. I have panic issues over meds to say the least.

But I am PRO vaccine. Big time! I believe in Vaccines. Well, that is tried and true. I believe vaccine injuries happen. but with that beings said the bar for the older ones like MMR, Polio, Menengitis and ect have extremely low reaction or injury rates. That is where I set my bar on all of this.

So now we have this novel Covid crap happening. And all of these companies are clammoring to the top. Moderna, their entire reason for being in business is to get the world to start using mRNA technology. It's literally in their company name (modern RNA). Yet for the past 10yrs, they haven't really gotten it to take off except for the really rare stuff like rabies vaccination and etc. Never fully getting it to FDA approval.

J&J has a history of lying and paying out. That concerns me. And Pfizer is not better.

And they all rushed. WarpSpeed was the mission. I looked at the death rates of the vaccinations. Here in America alone in just a few short months, we were at well over 100X the rate any other vaccination has been in a 10yr time span. (Red flag#1)

The adverse side effects have hit 668,000 and counting. Those people can no longer get the second shot. That is way too high. (Red Flag#2)

This is all still a experiment. (Red flag#3)...and I'd rather stay in the control group. Given that there are meds out there that will help me if I do contract Covid. Which I do think I had a variant last Feb, along with my family, but back then it was "just a virus" going around. But they are now realizing that Covid is mutating at a rate of every 10 days now. And now Pfizer is saying they want you to get a 3rd shot, that 2 isn't going to be enough.

I have always trusted my 3 red flag warning system. Covid is real, it's scary. H1N1 was scary too. And to top it all off....the shot is not going to prevent me from getting Covid. It's described to be similar to the flu in that regards...it supposed to prevent it from becoming "severe covid".
But you will still need to mask up...regardless if you get the shot.
You will still need to isolate if you don't want to get it.
Businesses will still remain closed (by some leaders) for this reason.

In my lifetime I have never seen such a grab on liberties and this, I truly feel has become political and that ticks me off too. Leaders removed the meds they know would work. Why? I have lots of questions like that.

And last....because of the nature of this virus being a corona virus, I expect it will always, always be a part of our lives from here on out.

If I have natural immunities already, why would I nee the shot?? Especially if it's mutating so fast??

My conclusion to all of the above is I'm going to wait. I want, no, I demand better. I don't want some sloppy thrown together vaccine that never passed a single FDA approval. Sorry. Not when I have a 99% chance at surviving it. Why bring it down to a mere 95%? Or less?? Something to think about.

Like I shared, I know my opinion is not as others here. I have thought long and hard over this and mulled over sensationalized media coverage vs facts. I looked up the questions I had vs what others wanted me to hear.

This is where I am at today. I may change that at a later time, but for now it's a firm No.

With a mum in healthcare and my partner's mom also being in healthcare I really strongly recommend you get vaccinated. There are systems in place for these vaccines to be tested before they even get to us. The J+J vaccine was pulled due to just 6 cases of a rare side effect, we are in safe hands.

Whilst the chance of an allergic reaction isn't zero I will still be getting it even with my allergies, there are paramedics on sites to respond instantly to serious reactions. (I have a history of wild med reactions including temporary paralysis with Cymbalta).

My kind of strong-handed argument;

1. we already have fibro the idea that we might get covid is terrifying on top of what we deal with every day, we get sicker than most people. 3-5 days of potential side effects compared to a life-threatening virus should be an easy choice.

2. Even if you personally aren't worried about if you get sick, think of all the people in even more compromised health places that will get sick and die from this horrible virus. We owe it to our community and society to protect those people and ourselves. Don't be selfish.

To help clarify.
1. The science behind the Covid vaccine was not rushed. We began this line of inquiry with SARS-1 almost 15 years ago. Covid is, technically, SARS-Cov-2. The tech was languishing b/c nobody cared about SARS-1 except in Asia, where it still popped up sometimes. So, this wasn't rushed, IMHO, except in PRODUCTION.

2. ALL vaccines, including flu, have some side effects. The ones with the Covid vaccine are not yet fully understood, but we still don't know why. Reporting of side effects, FYI, includes: "Sore at injection site". That occurs in most vaccines. So how many people have a "side effect" is not accurate as to the actual danger.

3. JOHNSON AND JOHNSON IS TO BE AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS. Why? The efficacy of their vax is, frankly, less than a flu shot. Seriously? Why bother. This is my life at stake. Gimme better odds, hence waiting on Moderna. (I have nothing against Pfizer, other than I simply trust the Moderna testing process more than Pfizer's. Consider it a personal quirk.)

4. This isn't about civil liberties. It's about lives. Same as the HIV pandemic. If MY life were the only one at risk, fine. But it's not. That's the deal-breaker for me.

5. Worried about blood clots? FAR more likely with Covid than with the vaccine. Risk of blood clot with disease is eight to 10 times greater with Covid. Disbelieve, believe, I don't care. I go with my nerd posse.

I was doing a little more reading. And if anyone wants to jump in on this, please, I'd like to hear your insight also.

RNA is something we all have in our bodies along with DNA, right?

But the RNA is how thing bring in the covid antibodies to help our bodies.

From my own research...and I'm not a doctor, scientist or anything but someone concerned here, is that RNA is not neccesarily a good thing to add into our bodies. Kinda like what happens when you send in someone elses DNA...our bodies fight it. And fight hard. (Think Host vs Graft with a bone marrow transplant or even what a transplant patient might go into when their body fights off the new organ).

From what I've been reading, RNA can go rogue so to speak and start to create a storm of cytoplasm "cytostorm" inside us causing clotting issues and if that doesn't happen, it can in turn attack our organs.

It's been proven that covid doesn't just attack the lungs, it will attack all organs.

So my question now becomes "Why would I want to add more RNA into my body"???
Again, I think back to all the hell my mom went through for her bone marrow transplant. I watched patients beside her pass away because their bodies didn't have the strength to endure it anymore. And granted their immune systems were wiped out, they were rebuilding it 2-3-6 months later and then they passed....host vs graft got them.

And while I understand the risks of this are not incredibly high, I think back to why not just take meds?? Meds that not only prevent 'severe' covid but also help you recover. Allowing our own bodies to generate the antibodies we need. Verses getting shot of RNA, and then 20some days later doing it again and like I stated, the Pfizer CEO yesterday shared...welp...looks like a 3rd shot will be needed. And at the rate Covid is mutating....it just seems unlikely we will ever catch up to it. (personal though there).

The vaccine was *not* rushed. The science behind it was over a decades worth of research. It was pure dumb luck that we had the technology when we really needed it. The only "rushed" part of the whole scenario was production. Too bad the administration in charge at the beginning of the pandemic ignored scientific facts, misconstrued and flat out lied about the seriousness of this illness. So many people died needlessly. That same technology is now being harnessed to make a vaccine to prevent cancer. Would you say "no" to that?

And, so what if we need a COVID booster. The flu mutates every year and needs a different vaccine. SMH

Get the d*mn shot and wear a mask. It is our civic duty to prevent and stop the spread of this terrible illness.

With respect, Wonder, I think you're confusing organ rejection mechanisms with immune reactions with messenger RNA. it is not RNA ---- it is *messenger* RNA. In the details lie the devil ------ in this case, the scrap of stuff tells your cells, "Make these things" and then the immune system says, "Oh! That's bad!" and our immune system will "remember" ----- all without a virus entering our bodies.

Also, WHAT TREATMENTS? Remdesivir? Good luck getting your HMO to give it to you. Which treatment stops heart damage in asymptomatic twenty-something athletes? None. There's people walking around with illnesses for life b/c of Covid, and b/c the "treatments" are essentially just "rich people can afford the good stuff, the rest of us better pray", so they're stuck. Damaged lungs, damaged hearts, overreactive immune systems ----- we *know* the virus does that.



STOP THE VIRUS. VACCINATE. This method stopped measles. Smallpox. Rabies. Polio (in many regions). Why not stop Covid?

I was a person who’s mind went back and forth non-stop on whether to get the vaccine or not, until I was about driving myself nuts. I looked at both sides and all of a sudden I made my decision to get it, and I never went back. I felt so good when I made the decision. My hubby was like, whatever you think hun.

We got the Moderna, and are done with both shots as of yesterday.

We just went through a very scary situation with my SIL. She was very sick with Covid and in the ICU for over two weeks. She is one of my best friends in the whole world. I prayed so hard for her. We were blessed that she came through it. She is home now for two weeks and is still on oxygen. She is 55 years old and has no illnesses of any kind. After this, I’m super happy we got the vaccine.

I just wonder if a person already suffers from migraine headaches and one of the side effects of the vaccine is possibly intense headaches, how do you know if it is a serious reaction and not just a really bad migraine. The mention of blood clots happens to be very scary.
