Hi
We just got back from a bit of shopping. Doug has been looking for a winter coat. He didn't find one he liked in his size. Don't know whether it's the same as in your local towns but the choices are less and less. I guess the online buying is taking over, but sometimes you just want to try stuff on without the hassle of taking stuff back.
The funny thing is I found a winter coat I absolutely love and I wasn't even looking for one. That's going to be my Christmas present.
Joanne we both did a Friday post, go back and look at the cake picture, I'm pretty sure you know, what do you call it in America? Carly doesn't have cakes like that where she is, do you? Bless your mum. You are right there is so much to deal with after. I feel for our son, he doesn't have siblings to help him, it's all on him after the last one.
Carly I love that you just eat what you like without Mike. Doug and I have different meals on the 2 days I work because I'm too tired to cook. We have microwave meals on those days. Yes that does sound odd having 2 coffins on top of eachother. But at least you know you'll end up together and where you'll be. Doug and just love the seaside, and if I never get to move there and live there m at least I'll be put to rest there.
Leo I hate starting over with new therapist. You get to know one and pour your soul out and then you have to start again, very draining.
Going out for a meal tonight with my brother and sister.

70FThis is the last picture of Mom and she looks tired, she is 98 there and still going strong in her beliefs that what she thinks is to be the path to follow. She was just weeks away from Hospice and that is what is amazing. Mom was one of a kind.Today we are still dealing all the final details when someone is gone. Sandra, Doug's birthday cake and gifts sounds like he had a good time, I like...

Joanne, hugs. I'm th eonly kid to deal with a LOT in my fam, and... yeah. AFTER is rotten. Just sucks.
Carly, you go! Food is for the sioul, not just the body! :-)
The weather is schizo, 80F and then 55F and then...
Sandra, what I don't understand is when I log on I always look to see if you have longed on. The cake is a Victorian Cake, we don't use the word sponge except we do have a cake called a sponge, if that makes since. Most of the cakes I make for company are a Victorian Cake because I don't have to frost it, which I don't really enjoy.
The calls are now coming in from Beloved Hospice to offer grief counseling for 18 months and on Mom's birthday Nov. 28th. I told her Mom was 99 and it is a relief to her and us with the pain she was experiencing, the meds were constantly upped it was so bad. She agreed losing an aged parent is different then when we lost our baby girl and toddler son. Those are losses we never recover from.
Leo, it is never easy dealing with Mom's that want to rule the world and in Mom's case, it was her pearls even when milking the cow. Your Mom will make lasting impressions on everyone! You having to take care of FIL life collections, slowly, just take it slowly.
Carly, that's an interesting collection of what you eat when Mike is not home, just curious do you ever have cereal or ice cream? So far I've had my protein drink and in an hour I'll have the Greek Youghurt when I add two tablespoons of instant chocolate pudding with splenda, stir it up and it's like eating chocolate pudding but healthier. So good, LOL!
All this talk about food, I'm going to bake an apple strudel.
PEACE
The weather here is weird as usual. It was so cold this morning at 61f and now back up to 80f. I did agree to turn off the ceiling fan if Mike wouldn't insist that we have the heat on as he is cold at 76f.
Sandra, I so agree with the shopping thing. I use to never order on line and now I can't stop but I have got to stop. I am buying way too much and on some site it is difficult to return and they want you to keep the item because for them it is more expensive to ship back. And then I end up with 3 of everything trying to give it away. I really need to leave that site but I am still trying to figure out if it was duplicated again!
Often times you can go the a site of a store close by. They have jeans that fit Mike but never in the store!
I hope that Doug can find a coat. Don't you just love it when you are not looking for something but you find something great. Seems like that is usually when it happens.
I do know about a sponge cake. We often use that when making strawberry short cake. Just never heard of Victorian.
With Mike being an only child is was always hard for him but thank God for our girl's as they were always such a help with his mom toward the end.
I see you are going out to dinner tonight with brother and sister. Hopefully they of course be there for Martin when you are "tossed out to sea". :-)
Leo, that does suck when you are an only person to deal with a lot in your family? Do you not have any support at all?
Joanne, I cannot imagine what you would went through losing 2 children. The pain I am sure was unbearable.
I hope settling your mom's estate does not take forever. It can seem like an on going nightmare. Just way to much stress and paper!!!!
I know my choice of eating is questionable. I've not had cereal in years but I do eat ice cream quite a lot. I do eat yogurt because I cannot swallow pills so I mix them in. My years long of my swallowing disorder has played a toll on me.
I am sure wanting an apple strudel right now!
Wishing everyone a great rest of the weekend.
xoxo
