This is another "perk" that can be associated with Fibromyalgia (FMS). Irritable bladder affects me periodically. I feel like I have to "go" right now or else and all that happens is a dribble. Interstitial Cystitis is (sp?) also associated with FMS. Sorry, I can't check the spelling on the latter. Take care.

YES. I have irritable bladder as well, have read online that it can be associated with Fibromyalgia. Fibro affects all our muscles, ligaments etc.

I have IC too. Also I noticed when I took a daily dose of prednisone (back when I was taking it for RA, that my bladder would improve, so I knew it had something to do with inflammation. I can't take prednisone now and my bladder is bad every day unless I'm taking vesicare. However the vesicare doesn't fix it. Not sure if night time is worse for you, but it is for me. I hope you find some relief. Bladder problems are intense and sometimes the worse of the pain we could experience as people with Fibromyalgia.

I'll be talking to my doctor about bladder issues at our next appointment. Thanks for reminding me to add it to my list. It's been a while now, getting steadily worse. I have to pee, like all the time. It's not so bad during the times when I'm awake (though it's still more than it used to be), but while I'm sleeping, or trying to sleep, I'm up every hour. And I'm not exaggerating. Sometimes I'll feel like I have to pee RIGHTFREAKINGNOW, but then when I get to the bathroom, I get three little drops. It's embarrassing, but sometimes I wear a diaper when that happens, especially on bad days, so I don't have to get up every 2 seconds to pee those 3 little drops. But, mostly, every time I have to go, it's a normal sized, or even large, pee. And I've no idea why. I'm not drinking more than usual. So let me know if you have any luck with fixing this from your doctor, and I'll do the same.

I've had fibro 8 years and the spasming bladder is a real pill. I to have the same symptoms but now when I go to bed and take my muscle relaxers I pee the bed ALOT. Its so frustrating. I also have alot of chocking from dry throat issues and dry eyes. I hates it as much as horses hate snakes! I'm trying to put a little levity in the situation but I'm frightened my husband told my 24 yr old son at some point I maybe going to a nursing home. Because of this disease and peripheral neuropathy, PseudoTumor Cerebri and bipolar. I'm having a not so slight-rebound effect with meds which is sending me back to the doctor this coming week. I'm 57 years old and I'm not going down without a fight lol....We'll keep you posted.

FYI - I went to the urologist because i thought I had a kidney stone in the spring & he told me that Cymbalta is used in United Kingdom (or somewhere....that's a long time to try & remember where) for incontinence so the urge to pee but not being able to was probably due to the Cymbalta. Yah side effects. He offered to give me another medication or to try and stop taking as much Cymbalta. Over the course of a month or two I tapered down from 60 mg to 0 mg and the bladder problems mostly went away. However the pain came back & the stress of the summer that I am back up to 60 mg & back to rushing to the bathroom to dribble or have to sit for a while to get it to work.

i like other have horrible bladder problems , i had a injury from a pain doctor doing a nerve block , but since then and getting fibro things are much worse. I hate incontinence but it is part of my life I deal with daily. I get bladder spasm and get infections easily . I either can't stop from going pee or I can't pee for three days in which then I have to self catheterize which is no fun either. I say specialist for incontinence and they gave me Detrol to control the incontinence but it can cause you not to pee for days which causes pressure and pain. So which is the better of the two evils. I also got vulvodynia after getting fibro and so I have to use other meds too. I agree it is not a welcome issue.isabee

After constant, recurring bladder infections, I finally saw a good urologist. He ran many tests on me, gave me anti-biotics, and than a low dose anti-biotic for many months.

I am still taking this, nitrofurantoin. half dose and my infections have not come back. Really, they can drive you crazy. In nursing homes it is the first sign of confusion that is the symptom that presents most often. Confusion. Imagine that!

I suddenly started having trouble with incontinence about 3 weeks ago and it seems to be getting worse. I wet myself multiple times a day now. I have to wear the poise pads so I don't mess my clothes. This is just crazy! When I get the urge to go, I literally cannot hold it to make it to the bathroom for even one minute! What the heck is causing this? Muscle issues, infection, or what?? I do not have to go more often, but when I do there is just no stopping it! It sure is embarrassing!!!

I have had lots. Irritation, infections, spasms. All better with Cymbalta and the naltrexone supposedly boosts my immune system. Estrace vaginal cream if you are post menopausal helps by restoring tissues so that the are more swollen, like when young, and bacteria cannot enter. Also topicalapplication of aquaphore before swimming.

Us men get it also. It comes in stages. Been having it on and off for 30 years. My favorite is the after dribble thats a little more than a dribble. Embarrassing when it soaks into my pants. Gave up trying to figure it out, nothing shows up on tests. It can go on for weeks or several months, then like magic everything is ok. I can't even blame it on aging since this started with my first round of fibro in my 20's.

I went to a Urologist when it got ridiculous years ago as I had to know where a toilet was every where I went. I use "Poise" pads for bladder leaks. Also watch my caffeine and other things I drink since my meds give me dry mouth too.I was put on a medicine to slow down the bladder spasms and it was great.

It got really bad when I would sleep walk to the toilet to pee and wake up stiff and sore on the toilet that's when they diagnosed it and gave me meds to stop that.
