have you guys experienced times where your pain doesn't let up for days and doesn't seem to decrease on the pain scale? Today I'm experiencing the same pain level I had yesterday. What do you suggest?

Honestly? I have so many days like that I all it "this is where I live" if it's around 6/10, and if I get more than two in a row when it's 8/10 on pain level.... I call the doctor for advice. It's almost always: rest, fluids, heat, ice, lik eI have flu. Which does work. Sorta. I at least seem to get a bit more sleep, and *that* helps!

Pacing is key to living with this beast. Respecting your limits is important. You could try a hot bath with Epsom salt to see if that helps. Past that point, rest, hydrate and try to distract yourself with a movie etc. Hope that you get some relief soon.

Thank you both...I'm so new to fibromyalgia so I don't always know what to do to get the slightest amount of relief. Respecting my limits sounds like what I need to do...I push myself because I don't want to seem like I'm not capable of doing xyz. Just feels all over today but more so in my hips and lower back. Pulsating . On days like this I have to keep myself moving mentally and physically because it can get depressing to be in constant pain

Aloha. My pain usually stays around a 5 or 6 on the pain scale. If it goes bellow that then I'm having a miraculous day. Like mentioned above, pacing and good sleep (at least good sleep hygiene) is key to keeping it from flaring or staying staying high.

Thank you!!

Sometimes I'm in such pain and a bad state of mind for a couple of days I cannot even take a shower, it requires too much effort. I just take an extra pain pill or two, a half dose stronger trazadone to help me sleep, and curl up under lots of blankets. Soaking in a hot tub seems to help somewhat while I'm in the tub. Colder damp weather seems to bring on the bad spells more. wish I could give you better advice, but it will pass, and speak to your doctor about it, maybe you need a medication adjustment.

I did have an adjustment of meds and the higher dosage gave me horrible nightmares. 'My husband and I are trying for a baby so I'm limited on what I can take at this time. So it kinda sucks...I'm definitely trying to keep myself busy and positive

When I was first diagnosed my pain came and went. It never lasted more than a few days at a time. But over the years it has become a constant. If I am having a 6 day I feel blessed. I have learned to do what I can when I can and to love myself enough to take care of myself and nothing else when I can't. I make myself lay in a warm tub, use the heating pad, sleep more and make sure I eat well. I also find that distraction is a blessing. I read a lot, watch HGTV, and movies. I spend time on the computer when my hands and arms allow. I beat myself up mentally for years always thinking I should be able to do more, but a few years ago I decided that I wanted to live for myself. I started making time for me. I find that sitting out in the sun and fresh air and listening to the birds reminds me that I am not alone. I am not a "religious" person per se but I do believe that there is something or someone beyond me that guides and helps us. I hope something I have said helps you in some small way.

I have found it helpful to evaluate events, activity. food, and feelings. Every day is not like the other. If I eat too much sugar I hurt and feel depressed. If I push myself too much I just suffer in general. If I have dental work, a drs appt, or have to drive more than usual I am more tired. Mindfulness does wonders for managing pain. Keep on striving for the best :)

Thanks so much! That makes sense

88FIn 1969 we decided to get married without a big wedding. Most of our friends and family liked large over the top for the time kind of weddings and I did not. First, I didn't see why spending so much money for one day when we have the rest of our lives to live. I have never regretted not having a big formal wedding. Another issue is not liking all the attention. Also, we have gone to big...
