My life has been depleted so much by this illness it seems i don't have one anymore. It takes so much to do the simplezt things and pain is a daily companion. I lay in bed most days and pray for the time to pass. Just wondering what a typical day in ur lives look like. Am i the exception or the rule? Thank you!

The there are times it hits me like a freight train, I take a hot bath, watch tv and make sure I get up and move around. I don't feel like it but know I feel worse if I don't get up.
There are days I wonder why, but try to think things can be worse, slot worse.
I just try to keep my mind occupied because if I thought about the pain it would feel a million times worse.
Try to keep mentally active it will help if you don't feel like getting up that hour.
Four more hours of work, then home. Tonight was typical - dinner, just a bit of housework, then two hours on a conference call for a volunteer thing.
By that time I'm ready to crash - then wake up and repeat.
I also have a dog and she needs to be taken are of.
I may have a shower or an Epsom Salt bath.
And that tires me out just doing that. By the time I have got dressed I am ready to sit down again and
If I get up from my bedroom and then sit in my living room shortly after. That's fine.
Mornings are tough. I take my time and I pretty much play the day by ear unless I have appointments scheduled.
It depends on how I am feeling on what I do and what gets done.
I have been going to the pool again to exercise. A couple of times a week. It has been hard and It took effort to get started but it is helping the back pain I have been having and it feels good once I am in there. A big relief on my joints.
My body hurts and muscles are sore as hell but I will keep going. I am worse if I don't move. I have Osteoarthritis in many joints and I am stiff as a board so it's important to not sit all day and I stretch and move. yes it hurts, and i have knee replacements going on 3 years. i still have pain in my knees.
And even with what I do I feel I still sit too much. I am a bit hard on myself and expect more. I watch tv a lot but I
I try and get up and do things as best I can.
I have cut the dog walking down as my feet are hurting and burning more
My doggy is getting shorter walks.
I clean the basics up in the home the best I can. I try and do something each day but there are days I just let everything go.
I don't fuss like I use to. I rarely put my clean clothes away neatly anymore. They are in a basket in my closet. Lol
I may Vacuum one room one day another room another day.
I may do a load of washing and drying another day. I have to pace myself. Can't do it all in one day like I use to. I rest in between doing chores.
My dog is work too.
I love my dog a lot but I sometimes think it's too much. She is still young and has tons of energy and she makes more work for me sometimes which can be exhausting.
I spend time online a lot. I play brain games, memory games.
I listen to music, I try and read if I can focus enough.
I often take a nap during the day.
I make myself meals, salads, smoothie.
It's all effort and work to get through normal home activities.
I don't know how the heck anyone can work. I personally have gotten worse and I thought I would try and work again but it's been 5 yrs now since I have worked. And even then I worked only part time. Cuts been years and years since I worked full time.
Once I get going, generally between 10 and 12, I usually have a few "good hours" to do what I want as long as it is not too strenuous.
Evenings tend to be TV, computer, reading, or painting.
If I overdo it, even slightly, the pain ramps up. I can handle that usually. If, once the pain starts to ramp, I continue to push it, I end up with a horrific headache, fever, nausea, and severe cramps and spasms. If I get to that point, I am down in bed for days.
I am just recovering from such a flare. I felt quite a bit better this morning (meaning the pain was a 5 out of 10 and no headache). It took about 3 hours of light work/art and my headache, fever, and spasms ramped right back up. The pain and discomfort is right back up to an 8. 9 for me is bedridden and 10 is ER, so I try and cut it off here.
All of that said, I try and do something every day. Even if that is just a 5 minute trip to the store. Lying in bed makes me depressed and gives me nothing to do but think about how much pain I am in.
It is what it is. I am determined to live as good a life as I can in spite of it.
With two dogs and a Mom who is 85 and does not drive so there is that to do. The house isn't as clean as I would like it but I try.
I also feel strongly about keeping up with friends and ones who are older or sick and have no one to check on them, so I make a few calls and then try to visit them at their house. I need to feel useful and I think it is my Pollyanna personality......But it makes me happy to see others smile.
There are times when I am unable to leave my house for several days, but I try to keep moving even if it is a turtle's pace. That is when I know it is necessary for me to take care of me.
Some form of mild exercise helps.
Once coffee is done and refresh my ice water , straighten kitchen then I sit and drink my coffee.. takes bout 30mins for pain meds to kick in..
Then get cleaned up.. dress, make up.. and chores... body is still screaming but yup.. chores have to be done..
After that I do some small exercise for my Siatica , then Ice it.. then heat.. I plan dinner, then sit on my computer and chill or listen to alot soft music... I live you Youtube...
Somedays I can go back to sleep for a bit. or just doze off for couple of hours.. then wake and pain is always bad after any kind of sleep..
Somedays i can do heavier cleaning then others.. or I just get mad when my house needs a overhaul... lets face it.. with this crap, we sometimes have to walk by dirt....
and nighttime comes.. muscles can feel it coming... supper , dishes, hot bath.. and back to the computer or sleep..
Day and a life...
For the most part, I am showered and dressed by Noon. I am generally pretty sore but I find if I can move around, that helps. For me, laying in bed only makes it worse. It is kind of like ignoring the elephant in the room but moving does help physically and mentally.
I do a daily reality check to see what I might be able to accomplish that day. Laundry, cleaning, errands and so on. I make a plan and see how far I can get. If I don't get everything done, there is always tomorrow.
Later in the afternoon, I usually lie down for awhile and doze or watch the news. Now that the weather has improved, I may be outside on the deck or in the backyard enjoying the sunshine until the early evening. I like to play Scrabble on my Kindle or read.
By 7PM, I'm exhausted. I usually manage to get the dishwasher loaded after dinner and then I sit and stare at the TV for a couple of hours. I'm usually in bed by 10.
I'm grateful for anything that I can accomplish as opposed to worrying about what needs to be done. Take care.
I used to be able to work but no longer. I believe we work as long as possible. Most days I could live in my bed or chair. I TRY daily to do something. I am glad I can go potty by myself,
I can manage mostly inside my house but if I have to go out I have to plan & get ready hours before I go out so I am not exhausted or cancel outing.
Remember everyone's different. OMG everyday is different with me. I make a list but some days can not mark off any. Just do what you can and pray that you improve tomorrow.
At 6am I get lunch out of fridge (pre-made). I do warm ups then actual stretches, & a few basic yoga moves. Meditate for 10 minutes.
At 6:45 am get dressed slap some makeup on and proceed to have my daily 10 minute crisis when the pain has now surpassed 5 & my alydonia is flared up something horrible. I spend another 5 minutes bargaining w/ myself that if I just get thru today I'll maybe stay home tomorrow. At 7:15am I go to work.
By end of 30 min. commute pain's usually at about a 6. Stretch for 15 minutes then clock in. Work tethered to my desk and computer until 4:45. By mid shift full blown migraine in progress. Exhaustion starts to kick in and I pray I don't fall asleep at my desk.
Clock out 4:45pm and commute 50 min. straight home due to rush hour. Walk in door and barely have time to change before I pass out on couch for 1hr.
Grab something premade or my husband will make me something light. Read, use the computer, & watch TV until 11pm (I have insomnia). Lay in bed and pass out by midnight.
Such is the story of my boring life.
