Family Issues Support Group
Family issues is a huge range that go from minor conflict to major misbehaviour and even abuse on the part of individual members of the family occur. Whether you feel you are in a dysfunctional family or you're dealing with a very specific issue, this is the place to talk about it and find others who might be going through the same thing.

It can hurt to feel lonely. I know that feeling all too well. In friendships and families, there will always be times they hurt us or we get upset about things. You seem like a very nice person and it's ok to have the feelings you are feeling, we all experience them at some point in our lives. Maybe looking at the positive times you and your friends share will help you see that you aren't letting them down, sometimes we just get mad at our friends and vice versa. Stay positive Joy, you are a beautiful person inside and out!
You wrote that you have anxiety?... There is a good Anxiety board on here that is very supportive.... Verbal abuse is no good and that is not your fault.... Anger comes from the inside out not the outside in.... Another hug......xo
I agree with the lady above, the people in our lives are not perfect and we can't possibly live our lives trying to please others all the time. If you give too much of yourself your life will be out of balance and you will end up feeling exhausted and unfulfilled. It's much better to be happy by looking after yourself first, do what YOU love to do every day then you are better placed to support those around you and they will love to be with you because you will be happier ( for meeting your own basic needs) first. Like you I used to give too much and to be honest I really don't think it's what people want. It's ok to be a good listener but allow people to make their own decisions and stand on their own two feet. This can be very empowering. Look around at the happiest most successful people you know. I'm sure they don't spend their time looking after everyone else. No, they do what makes them happy and those around them love them for it. You sound like a lovely caring person and sadly, because your family life has been abusive you may be trying to hard to please others. I totally understand why this might of happened, are you looking for love and acceptance? List all your strengths and tell yourself you are a good person. You deserve to have a wonderful life. Go out there and have the life of your dreams. The secret is to, 'get happy first' learn to love and put yourself first. This is not being selfish it's called 'self care' you can still be a good friend. You are not responsible for your friends and it's not your job to look after your family I'm sure those around you are quite capable of looking after themselves. You are only responsible for yourself. I used to be like you and I just ended up exhausted and miserable. Now I do all the things I love to do, have lots of hobbies and interests, keep active and do fun things with my friends. Now everybody is happy and I'm learning to be happier too. Good luck, life can be very hard sometimes so be kind to yourself, be happy and everything else will fall into place. Love & hugs x
