Our daughter now 37 has been angry with us for the past 12 years - and now is not talking to us at all since August. She has estranged herself from the entire family, which includes, cousins, siblings, God Parent, the list goes on.
She decided not to invite anyone on our side of the family to her wedding - she only invited the groom's family and then invited us to a party a week later which no one wanted to attend. Everyone was confused and hurt by her not wanting us to be at her wedding and then asking people to travel from out of town for a dinner.
She is furious that no one wanted to attend the dinner. She is furious that no one understands that this was HER wedding and she could invite who she wanted. She was very secretive about her wedding - excluded all in any type of discussion regarding the wedding - she just kept saying we had to respect her decision. Maybe we should have respected her wishes but it was so hurtful and done so revengeveful (which she told someone it was because she did not want me her mother or her oleder brother at the wedding) it was beyone understanding. She is not talking to me, her mother, her father, her one brother and anyone that questions her decision - which hurt everyone. This exclusion was the last straw of her hurtful and hateful outbursts to me expecially. She has told everyone what a bad mother I was and am - how her borther is horrible. None of this is true and in fact just the opposite. I am afraid we over indulged her since she was the only daughter after two sons. she has no respect or empathy for anyone from family to friends. She is now pregnant and has told everyone who will listen except us and others who do not agree with her. No one was ever angry with her (except her father) they were just very hurt and felt she was just being unkind and hurting her mother and dad. The family is close and everyone knows how she was raised - normal average family - not perfect but not horrible.
