Entitled to my feelings?

We had to postpone what I wanted to do for my birthday. My 88 year old father in law wanted to go to a memorial service for his former coworker that day. So husband had to take him. A few days ago I told husband another date for what I want to do. He said fine. Today he tells me he wants to go to zoo. People from his former base are coming to zoo with a bunch of kids. We havent had but one kid activity to photograph this year. And doest look like there will be more. We dont get paid. Its just my husbands hobby. Plus he likes being around people. We dont get many opportunities like this zoo trip. But I'm disapointed that we have to postpone what I want to do for my birthday a second time. We are in our 60s. So a long walk at the zoo is tiring. I want to go to our local gardens and walk the trails. I'll have to put at least three days inbetween the zoo and the gardens. Husband says we can go to gardens any day. But zoo oportunity doesnt come along everyday.

Well that is dissapointing. I am sorry. I hope you get your birthday trip soon. Zoos are exhausting.

There's always time... I think his intentions are good.

Just pick a date, make the reservation and tell him that the third time's a charm... : )

It does sound like he didn't intend for these things to happen, it was just unlucky circumstances. Hopefully "third time's a charm" and you'll get to go to the gardens soon. Be sure and tell your husband how you're feeling about having to post-pone your birthday twice already. Let him know you understand, but you're feeling like second fiddle. He better step-it-up before he finds himself in your dog house. :)

The third time I picked to go to the gardens wont happen again. Tuesday at the zoo my husbands shoe kept rubbing against his toes. They are very sore and his legs are stiff. Because of having to meet a group and follow them at the zoo we walked for four hours with out much brake. Now Ihave to wait at least another week for his toes to heal. And I'm not going to enjoy the gardens if he has opportunity to do something more exciting and cant go because that is the day we are set to go to gardens. Feeling depressed. Not just about this but mom issues and my anxiety disorder worries.

I still say that if visiting the gardens is something that you like to do, then set up a day to do it.

My husband was capable of keeping me waiting for a year. he kept me waiting three years with a broken tooth for the dentist.

I wrote a short story about people who keep fobbing others off and doing what they want. And the people who let themselves keep being fobbed off.

Your husband sounds like a self serving jerk.

I say plan it and make sure there's will a wheelchair available. use this as a way to assert your power in the relationship; it's an important symbolic move.

    I'm horrified!  I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000.  I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter.  I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change.  Now this!  I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000.  I guess I have to pay...
