So I'm getting all kinds of responses on this.
I already told my son's shrink that he accidentally downloaded 1 cp he was charged with. My son is going, but he says he will tell the truth. We'll see what happens.
A lawyer up here was shocked the government prosecuted him on that 1. He said if it happened here in Philly he wouldn't have been charged.
The PO also says my son is not the 'usual' he sees in his office. He kept looking at him like, 'why is this kid here', but then he goes back to the standard and 'knows' he did something. Especially since the last lawyer pissed him off now the PO is leaning more to my son reoffending. I know the POs are just covering their ass and give the SOs the most extreme caution they can deal out. It has nothing to do with rehabilitation.
All of these cases are unfair because of the punishments they receive
SO therapy can be a concern because for many the court order says you have to successfully complete treatment and in order to do that you have to admit guilt. If you don't, you don't successfully complete the program or get kicked out of it and end up with a VOP. Some programs/therapists are better than others. There are many that admitting guilt goes way beyond just "yeah I did it" to having to describe deviant thoughts and fantasies. This can a huge problem for those that didn't have anything like that. The choice is stick to the truth and risk a VOP or make something up and risk failing a polygraph which can lead to a VOP.
I worry about pissing off the PO more, but if my son doesn't have to take it and the judge here agrees that the FL judge said what he said, which I don't see why he wouldn't.. it's right there, then the PO has to accept the fact. If he gets mad that's something we'll deal with later.
Putting my son thru SO Treatment seems like something that will have no end to it, because he'll never pass their test.
I hope this all works out for you and, especially, your son. I pissed off my PO by taking notes during our meetings. He asked me what I was writing and I told him it was what he was telling me. He then asked me if I thought I couldn't remember. I pissed him off by telling him that I was just making sure he remembered.
Anyway, find out if Phil Jones is still the Supervisor. He was my first PO and a really decent person. I still didn't trust him.
