Ok my question is how is he getting access to this information in the first place shouldn't all those files be non public

Nathan- The chat log my uncle had with the decoy is posted online by the people who helped do the sting. He chatted with her for over a month so it's very long and gives them a lot of information about him. How they know I exist :(

So the whole public has access to this was it an actual police sting or was it one of those so called Chris Hansen stings

A book for 5 dollars will usually die out soon and only five reviews if I remember right the more negative reviews Amazon usually pulls the book from the market

It was with Chris Hansen actually, how did you know?. It was on Dateline NBC. But it was a real sting, he was arrested on film and it was shown on TV and set to jail for their set up. They chatted with him for a month to lure him in. And then they have posted the entire chat log and the phone calls. Not just with my uncle, but all the other guys. They ruined his life by entrapping him, why are they dragging me into this?

And you would think it would die out, but their online website and youtube videos are growing in the thousands (I check every now and then). I don't want to be harassed too, and it kills me to see my uncle sad and alone from this.

True but the book DOES have the persons picture on the cover - it is very hard to deny that it is not about him - the hecklers claim that he is a public figure. I disagree but they need to be careful because he is an RSO and most states have laws about using the info from the registry and changing it and etc. That might be one way to fight it ...

Also the fact that it has his picture on it I would say he is entitled to royalties - I mean think of it - you can not put the picture of another Public figure (such as a famous star) on the cover of a book and then make up outrageous things about them ....

And as I have said before - to me the scariest part are these people seemingly obsessed with this man - there is something seriously wrong with those folks - serious wrong

Nathan- Because the sting was done with police. They had some volunteers chat online with men, and then lured them to the house with decoys. The police were there waiting. The decoy talked to my uncle at the house for like 10 minutes and then unleashed the police on him. I guess it's legal, a couple hundreds men were convicted from what I see.

They filmed his arrested, his booking, and they even have the video of him being interviewed by the police!!! They keep making fun that he was crying when it happened. Well who wouldn't be?! They ruined his life and will never make it in music now.

Advocate- Yea I guess for some reason he must he concerned a public figure. I don't know how else they get away with this. Is it because he is on a registry? Does that make fair game in the eyes of the law? He filed a lawsuit against NBC, but the judges dismissed it. They said he gave up his rights once he chatted with the decoy and he has to live with it now.

Yea they are really obsessed. The guy who wrote the book comes out with about an hour a video a day talking about my uncle. I don't get it. How many times can they make fun of him? And how do they get away using my uncle's pix like this? The person's thumbnail is from the pix of my uncle they have online.

If your uncle is suffering financial loss and it is hurting him fiscally, that is grounds for a lawsuit, it would be wise to at the very least consult an attorney. If it is grounds in your state for civil remedy, then any money that they are making off the book, sites and whatnot could be redirected. The court might not see fit someone else profiting off of something that cause the other to lose their employment and livelihood.

Well I am not sure if it is hurting my uncle fiscally, he still has his job. The judges have made rulings against him saying its his own fault for chatting with a decoy for so long. The chat log is pretty hard evidence against him I guess...

Has he served his time? Has he paid his debt to society? Then it could fall under harassment in which case he needs to file multiple complaints to the local sheriff department for using the registry to harass registrants. If they are using any likeness that has been on that website, it should be considered a violation of that law.

It might be his fault for the crime he committed but that does not give another the right to harass him continuously for several years. And if at any point a job was lost because of the media attention that this guy is stoking like a fire then it could be considered harassment. If this person is also hanging out, outside his residence, there could be stalking and loitering.

I know we all hate dealing with police, but when you go to file a complaint, they have to take regardless if they agree with it or not. They can also try to ignore it too, but if there are enough of them, they can't be ignored. Is your uncle the only person this guy is harassing or are there others?

Now the question is, are you feeling harassed? Because it sounds like they have you in their sights too. It sounds like you are not a convicted felon, nor are you a sex offender, yet they are harassing you too. This might be grounds for you to file something against them for not gaining your permission before putting you in their book. Again, speaking to an attorney about it would be best as it is a pretty thin line of thought legally.

There are some really nice things about small towns and there are some not so nice things about small towns... They tend to forgive better if they are a close knit community with level heads on their shoulders. So they may not see you any differently as there are many families that have closet offenders in their histories, it just isn't as fantastically advertised as it is today. Remember until the 1980's most sexually oriented crimes were not reported or were 'taken care of' within the family in a manner of speaking.

The one thing I noticed is that the smaller the group the more accepting people are to those that have committed sex crimes. They may want to know the age of the victim or something like that. Which it seems that if the 'victim' is over the age of 15, the attitude of "so what?" is what I have seen and heard about most often. I think it is because people, all us regular joes remember the age of 15, the coursing hormones, the uncontrollable urges, and poor judgement we all had back then. I always wonder about those that show such outrage when some 15yr old and some 19 yr old have sex and think that the 19 yr old is some kind of middle aged predator. It makes me wonder what their high school career was like, what kinds of worldly learning experiences did they face? Did they face any at all? Are they this naive in the other facets of their life? Maybe I faced to many, because I wonder if most people face enough of them to make them well rounded human beings. For their actions, responses and reactions do not imply that they have had enough world experiences to be able to pass judgement on anyone but themselves.

Is it the pic from the registry? What state? In FL it is against the law to use anything from the registry in an altered way ... so you can print the flyer out (as it appears online) but you cannot alter it in anyway ...
