I am now being brought into my uncle's harassment. So I know I posted before, but my uncle has been constantly harassed online for a few years now since his release. They have websites and google hangouts discussing him. They have the entire chat log that's really long and videos of him chatting (he was caught in a sex sting). But now they wrote an entire book about him!!! It starts off mentioning me (his niece) and him asking me a kind of sexual question.

They sent him a physical copy in the mail this week (his address is public because he's a RSO). It's a real 200 page book using his full name and making fun of him with his picture as the cover. Everything they believe from the chat log to what they find online.

They are selling the book on Amazon. What can we do? It has his arrest pic on it and talks all about him? He's not a bad guy and never meant to do it... and it's not right I am now being dragged into this! I am worried people in our town will discover it and it could make things worse. He's close to losing his job already. Help!

Maybe there is a way to contact Amazon to have the book pulled.

I don't think there is anything you can do.

Everything in the book is public knowledge as far as I can see.

I really feel for you, this is very disturbing that these people go this far in harassment.

If the book doesn't mention you by name, I don't know that there is anything you personally can do either.

Amazon I don't believe will pull the book. It looks like a self published ebook which is really easy to do on Amazon. I don't see an option to where you can purchase a paper copy on the Amazon site.

Maybe you could complain to Amazon anonymously and say that you think it is inappropriate to have this kind of thing on their website becasue people that are molesters might want to read it to get a thrill - that is what the general public might think so use their own stupidity against them!

Also who is this Nathaniel Trevor guy and why is he SO obsessed with this? Something that happened in 2007 (9 years ago??)? Doesn't this guy have a life?

Advocate, I don't know why this guy is so obsessed. He thinks my uncle is funny with a funny accent? idk. He has a YouTube channel with literally hundreds of videos of my uncle, and he now hosts google hangouts to talk about him. I believe you were one of the people who saw the website before. I've looked and it's all grown bigger. But the book includes me! It has him asking me about my "private area". I mean the bulk of the book is about him, but still... I should have some say. Why can't they let my uncle just live life in peace in his own home and eat some mac and cheese!!!

This person is clearly getting off harassing you and your uncle. Hard as it might be, ignore it and don't react to it. By reacting to it, you're giving away your power and giving HIM exactly what he has set out to do....and that's cause you pain.

However, if your uncle is on the verge of losing his job, that's another story. Most lawyers give a free 15 minute consultation. It wouldn't hurt to call one and see if there's anything you can do.

I'm not sure of American laws but we have one in the UK that's part of our human rights "everyone is entitled to a private life". This is harassment, pure and foul harassment.

I come from a family of authors and as far as I know publishing a book about someone without permission is illegal and you can be taken to court for damages. Many authors can get round this by using what they call "the small penis" rule. If you are basing a character on someone and this person assumes it is them by putting a flaw in about them, such as a small penis, they are very unlikely to go to court to say that its them. This is just ridiculous behaviour!

I would definitely get legal advice. Good luck!

Can you or someone you know complain that this type of book is "triggering" Ya know, use the right pyschobabble lingo and maybe they'll pull it.

I would say go on and give it really bad reviews but any publicity is good publicity

There are a lot of books that could be "triggering" on amazon. If the book doesn't refer to her by name, its going to be really hard to have the book pulled. Unless you can prove for fact that the reference to "niece" is you, it'll be really tough.

I don't know why this person has such a strong interest in the case or why they put so much effort into all of this. It's really sad. I'm so sorry!

Nathan- Even though he is just writing a story, tons of what he is saying is a copy and paste from my uncle's chat log with a decoy. He apparently chatted with a decoy everyday for over a month before the sting. So yea... that's a lot of material sadly. I read through some of it, not all of it is completely false, like talking about him moving from certain cities, the name of employers, dog, etc.

KnowNot- He and a lot of other people seem to be obsessed with my uncle. There are now hundreds of videos about him on youTube all mocking him, and they made a entire website devoted to mocking him. I can't help but to have look once or twice. I even saw they have google hang outs that last about 8 hours just talking about him. I am not exaggerating that, I saw them (didn't watch them). It's insane. But the sting he was in was on national TV in 2007, how they are able to do this. They make fun of his accent, the fact he didn't have money, and just the fact he looks chicken. I mean... what on earth???

didn't your uncle file a lawsuit against the show and certain people affiliated with it that basically brought down the show and the people involved with it?
i briefly looked at some written stuff and videos and it seems like they are vengeful because of this. you know much more than us about everything, so whats really going on?

My uncle filed suit against them to make them take down the stuff about him (they never did). So far he hasn't got them to take any videos down, or the chat log, or the phone conversations he had with the decoy. He also sued for the fact they ruined his life and hopes to make it in music.

Some other people filed suit against NBC and the organizers of the sting. Looks like it worked, but the final rulings seem to be undisclosed to the public. And they didn't remove all the chats and phone calls they had with men they entrapped still.

Hmmm... the more i think about it the more I think a bunch of us should get on their and give it awful reviews
