He can advise you what to do. I don't know if he will advise you to turn yourself in, but he will most certainly advise you not to talk to the police or anyone in law enforcement about your case.
DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE!!!!!
DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!
TURN YOURSELF IN IF THE LAWYER ADVISES BUT KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT!!!!!!
The police will tell you they want "your side of the story" or "that they would like for you to clear some things up." That is a damn lie. They want to make it easier for them to nail your hide to the wall by you giving them more information to use against you.
Anything---no matter how innocent it sounds---will be used against you to make it harder on you.
YOUR FUTURE IS AT STAKE!!!!!
Many a man has thought he could "help out" or "explain things" to make it easier on everyone, but they did nothing but TALK THEIR WAY INTO PRISON.
DO NOT fall for that trap. They only want to get you talking about the incident. They will then turn everything you say against you. They will want more information for additional counts or charges.
They will try to nail your butt to the wall. Yes, I know by turning yourself in you might be admitting guilt, but let's keep the damage to a minimum.
No matter how nice they sound or how much they seem to understand your crime, keep your lips zipped up.
When they start their business of "help us out by clearing this misunderstanding up", you only need to say a few words AND STICK WITH IT.
Memorize these words, "I will make no statements without my attorney being present." PERIOD. ZERO.
Many people think cops are somehow judges and if they could only explain their side of the story the police will weigh that against what the victim tells them and let you go. THAT IS NOT TRUE. They already most likely have their mind made up that you are guilty in the worst way. They are not judges.
They do not weigh evidence. THEY MAKE ARRESTS. PERIOD.
Remember this: The cops only ever want to talk to three types of people---witnesses to a crime, victims of a crime, and suspects. You can bet your last dollar that if you are not a witness or a victim, then they consider you a suspect.
Do not make it any easier for them to nail you.
EVERYONE WHO HAS HAD DEALINGS WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT WILL TELL YOU THE SAME THING. Many people on this very board are here partially because they talked to the "friendly" police.
I did not even read through all your post. I just started typing to help you. It is that important.
Please, heed these warnings.

Never trust law enforcement. You have a wife and business that needs you.
I don't know if you have previously spoken with them, but now is the time to shut up. No matter what they say----and they will try different tactics----do not talk to them about anything. Even the weather.
Let's minimize the damage.

Your feelings of regret and guilt for "cheating" on your wife is not a reason to commit a worse mistake by being lead to legal slaughter at the hands of law enforcement and the DA.
One day underage girls who lie about their age so they can have sex should be prosecuted for solicitation to commit a felony.......
Fortunately the PD office even though it isn't obligated to help me until I end up in court has been EXTREMELY helpful. I can't thank them enough. Hell even the RI bailbondman has been helpful.
So I know enough not to say a word.
The solicitation charges are what scare me the most and what I and my wife will possibly be facing. Any jail time no matter how short isn't something that our situation could handle.
We don't live in a compassionless world, but there are definitely holes in the fabric. You have just slipped through one of the worst. This is likely to take a lot of your time. Do you have family that can help your wife while you wade through this?
I wish I could be there to lend a hand...
Here's what bothers me about the justice system; The first thing you do is get processed, photographed, fingerprinted, etc. It's almost as if your half convicted already. What happened to innocent until proven guilty?

You asked what happened to innocent until proven guilty?
That went out the window with "cops don't lie," "law enforcement is your friend", "children always tell truth," and that "our justice system tries to be fair."
Be prepared to experience a big loss of innocence and disappointment when you see how the system really works. You will find that many things you thought you knew about our system of government was just lies.
A criminal indictment and the ensuing investigation will knock the Polyanna out of anyone in a hurry.

The most frightening part was when we visited the public defenders office in the court house and those same people that were in the court room were there and we started receiving threats, the whispers and looks. And we are so far off from any trial.
Why stall? Delays almost always work out in favor of the defendant. Witnesses memories begin to fade with the passage of time and "victims" start thinking about the process and get cold feet.
Sometimes with time, "victims" just want to get it over with. They are no longer mad and just want to put it behind them. That is when you get a good plea deal.
DAs are overworked and they want to lighten their work load by resolving their cases. Sometimes a defendant that is patient can stall long enough and get enough continuances that the DA just throws up his hands and offers a sweetheart of a deal just to get the case out of the way
My theory is and has always been this----continuances buy a defendant time. Every day that he is still walking free and has not been convicted yet is a victory.
