This is my latest letter to government officials. While one might think my letter if off topic here, as it arises by the government push to enact laws that legalize discrimination against the LGBT community, I decided to use my letter to address the boarder issues arising by our being so consumed to hate everyone. Of course, those in government will have blind eyes, deaf ears, and refuse to respond.
A letter to Mo. State Representative Elijah Haahr and his Committee members on religious liberty law to amend the Missouri Constitution

Representative Elijah Haahr,
This morning, I read the article in the Springfield News Leader involving the proposed amendment to our State Constitution for so-called religious liberty rights whereby certain businesses would be permitted to discriminate against people of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community who want to become married. The article informs the public that your Committee is soliciting public comments about the proposed measure.
Proponents of this measure assert their right to discriminate on the basis of Leviticus 18:21-22, Leviticus 20:13, and Romans 1:27, which condemns homosexuality despite John 1:16-17, Romans 8:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:20-21 making it clear that we are no longer under the rules of the Old Testament. After all, if we were, then we would be religiously compelled to abide by Leviticus 20:10 and stone to death all who commit adultery, just as we would have to comply with Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and stone to death all unruly children.
Some proponents point to Romans 1:25-27 and 1 Timothy 1:8-10 in the New Testament to support the so-called religious liberty right to legalize discrimination against a specific class of people. Interestingly enough, while Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, he did condemn all forms of sexual immorality and yet, legislators do not file Bills or try to amend the Constitution to legalize discrimination against anyone except the LGBT community members. It is one of the reasons why I wrote, Are government officials in America trustworthy or merely hypocrites with a title?
All American history teaches us that we are a species that strives very, very hard to justify and rationalize laws that promote, condone, and encourage conquering other classes among us. Thus, for me, it is astonishing how women and African Americans can condone any law that oppresses another class when these classes themselves cry foul over being oppressed by a long history of laws or a culture that has targeted them for hate. But then, logic has no place in hypocrisy.
I keep asking why do we have so many legislators who file one Bill after another that directly or indirectly requires, condones, or encourages hate and violence against others because we claim they do not conform to a politically popular belief system. Why are we, as a society, a political system, and religiously guided nation, so compelled to hate people when doing so is inherently against biblical teachings? We are not a nation of religious beliefs or practices because we are literally consumed with hating others and we have legislators who are all too willing to promote that hate by the Bills they file and enact into law.
By the laws enacted we are literally teaching people, and especially children, that it is okay and expected for us to hate others because they are different from us, they do not promote a politically popular agenda, they do not dress right, they do not use the right bathroom, they do not walk or talk right, they have a mental illness, they are Muslim, black, or Mexican, or because they are LGBT, a sex offender, obese, or have a disability. Where does this hate end?
It ends when we, as a society, political system, and religiously guided nation stop looking for the differences in others to hate. When we stop enacting laws that promote hate and violence against others, and when we start realizing that there are plenty of reasons why others should hate us just as we entitle ourselves to hate them. And it stops when we demonstrate the courage to stop being hypocrites so we can elevate ourselves on to a superior pedestal over others on this notion that the only one’s having value in life and the only ones entitled to have rights, are those whom we call “normal” because we force them to be mirror images of ourselves.
If you want clones then create robots. If you want humanity then embrace the differences among people because all have value and everyone can help us learn and grow as a species, a nation, and as an individual person.

I would say that the LGBT and secular community are fighting a very similar battle to the SO laws. There are so many similarities to the issues.
Of course, I did not get one single reply email from any of the legislators on the Committee that purports to want public input on the proposed resolution to amend our State Constitution. While not surprising it is still disappointing nonetheless that they just can't or won't rise above their polarization and thirst to have laws that cause people to hate. Rep Haahr is a right wing religious fanatic like so many in the House legislative body, that is hell bent to shove his religious beliefs down the throats of others.
I agree that the two communities face similar issues. Legislators commonly use religion and children as the platform by which they propel the flag of oppression upon others of a perceived weaker class in effort to regulate morality, religion, and beliefs. And sadly, the probability is extremely high that the proposed resolution will pass, as Missouri is known for its knee jerk reactions, hyper-conservative responses, and overbearing religious beliefs that so often promotes hate.
I do believe our legislative culture, both nationally and by individual states, has turned more towards our promoting laws that advocate hate. Whether it is against the LGBT community, sex offenders, people of a particular religious belief, national origin, etc., etc., more and more we are becoming a grossly intolerable society that increasingly digs deeper into the national, party, and individual polarization going on.
Some of the groups "practicing" Christianity are only practicing and not living the teachings of Jesus Christ. Instead, they teach intolerance to their fellow man, which often leads to hatred------hatred against registrants and their families, hatred against gays and lesbians, hatred against many groups not like themselves.
Hatred should never be part of a Christian's vocabulary.
Many times they will support an idea that is controversial by picking out one single passage in the Bible to prove their point. They do not practice love, tolerance, forgiveness, and redemption, which are the main tenets of the Bible.
Some of these groups of "Christians" have in fact become political entities. I am thinking of the late Jerry Falwell, who was a politician disguised as a preacher. I mention Mr Falwell as I have seen him rant against gays, minorities, and any idea of tolerance.
For these reasons, I am not a big fan of organized religion. Religion to each person is a very personal matter. Too many religions attempt to impose their beliefs on others, and often they use legislation to do so.
We will never be successful legislating morality in the country.
Religion certainly needs to stay out of our government and its politics. You can see what happens when countries allow religion to become part of its government. In the Middle East, religion has become part of the government and what do we have over there-----Over 2,000 years of fighting and bickering, the deaths of millions of people, and great unrest, mostly because people are fussing and fighting over their brand of religion.
Now, I am not saying religion is bad, as I don't think it is. Millions of people every week go to worship their God, and that is fine. Nothing wrong with having faith, especially for people in our situation. The majority of people who are Christians or at least practice a form of religion are decent human beings who see religion as a spiritual experience to not only make themselves a better person, but to help them through a life crisis.
But we do not need religion in politics.
When politics and religion are mixed or when a politician passes laws only because of his personal beliefs, we have what we have today---politicians legislating morality instead of passing laws to help all citizens.

It is also why I pointed out that if we are going to adopt the Old Testament arguments against same sex marriage, then we must adopt the Old Testament rules and stone to death those who commit adultery and those who are unruly children. Thus, pointing out the way we cherry pick biblical scriptures to promote hate against a specific class because none of these politicians and fanatic religious / political groups are advocating that we enact laws that permit us to kill unruly children and adulterers (many of whom, by the way, are politicians and those from these fanatic religious / political groups).
The same applies to these hypocritical religious arguments used when people want to claim a religious superior ground to protest against abortion, but then argue against holding the woman accountable for having an abortion because suddenly it puts the argument at their front door step whereby what if those who protest against abortion have one and thus, would actually have to be held accountable for their actions. Suddenly religion is thrown out the window when it means holding those accountable who use religion to hate and condemn others.
I too wish we could remove religion out of politics, but such is impossible because politics relies upon the individual belief systems of those whom we elect and with that comes religious beliefs. Unfortunately, those in politics, and these fanatic religious / political groups have turned to using religion to promote hate against those whom they oppose. But even in this, they are hypocrites.
The easiest way to gather many voters (your base) is not by pushing for positive change, more inclusion, more secularism, more freedom of belief and inquiry... religious or otherwise... but to make people afraid they will be scapegoated if they don't join the lynch mob themselves...Pointing to dangerous (heinous sex offenders?) criminals, 'outsiders,' infidels, foreigners to avoid being "outed" / scapegoated themselves seems to be the way the world is going...back to a darkening future? (Hitler/ Il Dolce/ religious tyranny/ the oligarchy of $$$
I support a secular society here and around the world. My family was / is very religious and the person who molested me was religious, what went on was never 'reported' because we were all shamed and blamed and silenced as children, told to maintain the respectable veneer of happy family and back in the day (like now) had people in our little town been forced to recognize feet of clay in our family (or in their own) the neighbors would have blamed my mother probably more than him because women and "lesser' members of a family had no right to put family business out on the street or expect much less demand a reciprocal relationship with power-gone-mad taking advantage of those they were supposed to protect inside family.(just like politicians and preachers take advantage of their 'base' in society.)
Dare I say Religion in Support of Patriarchy/ the Powerful is a world wide infection in and out of families and causes untold harm all over the world based on gender,, race, and so on. Fear and prejudice isolates and kills all of us evaluated and labeled less-than no matter what the perceived 'sin'?
Such .'unfortunate connections" to religious hypocrisy are rife in this society and in the world hence misogyny, racism, homo-phobia, religious inquisitions and war committed by the self righteous quoting scripture from whatever religious 'base' therefore I support a secular society where there is religious freedom but not one supporting religious tyranny. I personally have experienced far too much religious 'tyranny' to want to think in terms of "god the father" ...ever.
What ever happened to 'render unto God that which is God's and unto Caesar that which is Caesars"? That 'scripture' might be a good place for every one to removing the splinter from their own eye.
Who says bad laws can't have Unintended Consequences? Take That! and That! and link to..and .LOL instead of cry?

Janet Mackie has left a new comment on the post "Why are people afraid of truth and facts?":
Because 'they' are really in favor of vigilantism and their criticism of WAR and of Vicki Henry and of all advocates Organizing for WAR or for justiceforall is that this podunck newspaper really does support vigilantism by the police and even ("Soto- voiced") supports those who would google families and then take 'the law" into their own hands" pronouncing death sentences upon people and families "that soft-on- crime juries" and registries and neighbors somehow forgot to punish sufficiently.
News papers and "editors' like these spout about free speech but silences all opposing voices and delete even their own comment buttons when saner voices protest. When families (experiencing collateral damage from "editors" and news papers like these read cr*p opinion pieces in their local papers they become even more afraid to join organizations like WAR (or RSOL) or Cure and Tyranny Reigns while Lynch Mobs March on waiving the Constitution before them as though they are right and we (ALL of US) are wrong to even think of freedom from of speech and lawful protection fear and prejudice. Thus googlers and trollers and haters runs rampant at the local level while we sneek around the internet hoping for some where there are people 'like us"
Well, I'm with WAR and RSOL and CURE (and with Vicki and with Daily Strength for Families of Sex Offenders and with Prison Wives and with Janice Bellucci anyone else with the good sense to Advocate and even VOTE haters and their ILK out of office in local elections. Am while I'm at it I'm with the "Lucy's and Snoopy's United" of this world so to GHAHRRRRR over stupid editors everywhere. and on to WAR... Unite!)
Silly? But then I must say...the paper must have received quite a few "united" comments from the "Lucy's" of this World... why else would they remove the comment button from their stupid editorial page anyway???
