This is my latest letter to government officials. While one might think my letter if off topic here, as it arises by the government push to enact laws that legalize discrimination against the LGBT community, I decided to use my letter to address the boarder issues arising by our being so consumed to hate everyone. Of course, those in government will have blind eyes, deaf ears, and refuse to respond.
A letter to Mo. State Representative Elijah Haahr and his Committee members on religious liberty law to amend the Missouri Constitution

Representative Elijah Haahr,
This morning, I read the article in the Springfield News Leader involving the proposed amendment to our State Constitution for so-called religious liberty rights whereby certain businesses would be permitted to discriminate against people of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community who want to become married. The article informs the public that your Committee is soliciting public comments about the proposed measure.
Proponents of this measure assert their right to discriminate on the basis of Leviticus 18:21-22, Leviticus 20:13, and Romans 1:27, which condemns homosexuality despite John 1:16-17, Romans 8:1-3, 1 Corinthians 9:20-21 making it clear that we are no longer under the rules of the Old Testament. After all, if we were, then we would be religiously compelled to abide by Leviticus 20:10 and stone to death all who commit adultery, just as we would have to comply with Deuteronomy 21:18-21 and stone to death all unruly children.
Some proponents point to Romans 1:25-27 and 1 Timothy 1:8-10 in the New Testament to support the so-called religious liberty right to legalize discrimination against a specific class of people. Interestingly enough, while Jesus never mentioned homosexuality, he did condemn all forms of sexual immorality and yet, legislators do not file Bills or try to amend the Constitution to legalize discrimination against anyone except the LGBT community members. It is one of the reasons why I wrote, Are government officials in America trustworthy or merely hypocrites with a title?
All American history teaches us that we are a species that strives very, very hard to justify and rationalize laws that promote, condone, and encourage conquering other classes among us. Thus, for me, it is astonishing how women and African Americans can condone any law that oppresses another class when these classes themselves cry foul over being oppressed by a long history of laws or a culture that has targeted them for hate. But then, logic has no place in hypocrisy.
I keep asking why do we have so many legislators who file one Bill after another that directly or indirectly requires, condones, or encourages hate and violence against others because we claim they do not conform to a politically popular belief system. Why are we, as a society, a political system, and religiously guided nation, so compelled to hate people when doing so is inherently against biblical teachings? We are not a nation of religious beliefs or practices because we are literally consumed with hating others and we have legislators who are all too willing to promote that hate by the Bills they file and enact into law.
By the laws enacted we are literally teaching people, and especially children, that it is okay and expected for us to hate others because they are different from us, they do not promote a politically popular agenda, they do not dress right, they do not use the right bathroom, they do not walk or talk right, they have a mental illness, they are Muslim, black, or Mexican, or because they are LGBT, a sex offender, obese, or have a disability. Where does this hate end?
It ends when we, as a society, political system, and religiously guided nation stop looking for the differences in others to hate. When we stop enacting laws that promote hate and violence against others, and when we start realizing that there are plenty of reasons why others should hate us just as we entitle ourselves to hate them. And it stops when we demonstrate the courage to stop being hypocrites so we can elevate ourselves on to a superior pedestal over others on this notion that the only one’s having value in life and the only ones entitled to have rights, are those whom we call “normal” because we force them to be mirror images of ourselves.
If you want clones then create robots. If you want humanity then embrace the differences among people because all have value and everyone can help us learn and grow as a species, a nation, and as an individual person.

Seriously, I hate the stoking of fear an hate and the implied if not implicit acceptance of violence against certain unpopular groups or individuals. I especially detest politicians who preach "personal responsibility" then blame society's problems on people - poor, immigrant, gay/lesbian - who often do not have the resources, much less a microphone, to defend themselves.
I for one support "religion" in letters like yours even if editorial boards and legislator's don't "respond." ,
partly because my son and his partner attend a little church where they are welcomed...just up the road from hater's church they and "people like us" all try to avoid...
I happen to believe in the words "all men are created equal" even though they are a pipe dream in a society, and within a political system that go out of their way to make it clear that only the "popular are equal." What a person's sexuality is, is not something I need to concern myself with, and, frankly, we have volumes of text books that show heterosexuals do a fine job in screwing things up, and living immoral lives.
While all men and women are created equal and all are children of God, the reality is, such is an illusion just as it is an illusion that everyone is entitled to the equal application of the Rule of Law. As I pointed out in my piece, as a society, political system, and religiously guided nation, we are consumed with the deep hunger to hate and to conquer other classes among us. We thrive on the opportunity to stomp on people; letting them know how inferior they are because of this label, that diagnoses, or because they are black, female, or (and the list goes on and on) so we can make ourselves feel superior.
We seek neither equality nor diversity, but conformity instead, which is precisely why we strive so damn hard to force everyone to be and to live in our mirror image. We do not use idol's as Gods, for we have instead appointed ourselves as God - the epitome of all arrogance and corruption. And it is not going to get any better, only far, far worse as time unfolds until we finely destroy ourselves and literally exterminate our own species.
Suffice to say, because he is gay, he strongly opposes this Bill. I pointed out that it must be hard for him to face these fellow legislators knowing they are targeting people like him to have no legal rights. I also pointed out that perhaps if legislators gave more thought about the Bills they file, on the platform that such laws can bite them in their butts later by being applied to them, then maybe we would not have the laws we have in many cases.
I think you said it best in the last paragraph of your second to last post... "We seek neither equality nor diversity, but conformity instead, which is precisely why we strive so damn hard to force everyone to be and to live in our mirror image. We do not use idol's as Gods, for we have instead appointed ourselves as God - the epitome of all arrogance and corruption. And it is not going to get any better, only far, far worse as time unfolds until we finely destroy ourselves and literally exterminate our own species. "
Extermination is really the only end result considering the path that we as a species has taken.
A good example is that there is this remodel that is going on in an old house that is on my way to work and on the way to one of my friend's houses. It is called Destiny's Point https://destinypoint.net/ It appears to be a women's shelter of some kind, but church based as well. Anyway, my friend and I were driving past it this weekend and I commented on what the place was and how much work they have been doing to the old house that they are renovating. She commented on what kind of riff raff it was bringing to the area. Now don't get me wrong, she is a good person and just needed a few questions asked and a statement to get her thinking about exactly what she was referring to as riff raff... So I told her that just because you didn't get caught doesn't mean that you haven't broken the law. As a really good example for Wisconsin and their avid supper club crowd, which is usually comprised of the social powerhouses of the area, they have a drink within the hour that they get in their car and drive they are committing a crime, if they do that more than 4 or 5 times they are a felon here in Wisconsin. (in other states it is far less) That got her thinking cause they are also avid supper club goers on the weekends. People commit felonies all the time, most of them just don't get caught. So the real question is, how are they any less of a criminal than the person that did get caught? And why should they treat anyone any differently if all of you are criminals?
The standard retort I'll get when people get frustrated when I blow a hole in their argument like that, is something out of the 'because I said so' bucket of phrases. LOL they may even throw in a foot stomp... heh
I think at the end of the day that is all any of us can really do - try to educate others. It is up to them to choose to listen, learn, and grow. Yes, it is frustrating as hell when they refuse to do any one of the three or all three, but we cannot force people to do such. If we did, it would not be evolution but dictatorship and then we would be every bit as guilty as those we try to educate.
I received a telephone call from Representative Gary Cross about my original email (the first post in this thread) and as I listened to him, I got the sense that either he doesn't get it or does not want to get it. He kept refusing to accept that regardless of his saying that he does not endorse the "haters" in life, they still exist and use laws as the so-called justification to hate others.
He, like the rest, also fail to see the contradiction. In the case of SJR39, to legalize discrimination against the LGBT community, religion is the foundation they argue upon, but conveniently ignore their religion when it comes to heterosexuals engaging in immoral sexual conduct. Suddenly when the table is turned and the discussion focuses on heterosexuals, the Bible does not exist.
The same applies in the realms of sex offense laws. Its all good to advocate the strictest laws possible when they target someone else, but let those laws target us and suddenly we think such laws should not exist. The rules always apply to someone else.

Dear Ms. ....
Thank you for contacting me with you concerns about H.R. 515, International Megan’s Law to Prevent Child Exploitation and Other Sexual Crimes Through Advanced Notification of Traveling Sex Offenders. I welcome the opportunity to respond.
As you may know, H.R. 515 would require federal law enforcement officials to establish a system, including a unique passport identifier, to track the international travel of child sex offenders registered in the United States. Federal law enforcement would then be required to notify foreign authorities of their travel.
According to the National Sex Offender Public Website, only about 30% of sexual assault cases in the United States are reported to authorities. Of these, approximately 67% of all victims are under the age of 18. Furthermore, of the small percentage of assaults reported, about 12% to 24% of sex offenders will reoffend. I voted in favor of this bill because it is an important step in addressing the global web of child exploitation and sex crimes. This bill passed and subsequently became law on February 8, 2016.
Human trafficking is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable. We must do all we can to help victims and stop offenders from perpetuating more violence and abuse. Although we disagree on this measure, I hope there are other issues where we can work together.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, and I hope you will continue to keep me up to date about issues that are important to you. If I ever do get someone in person or on the phone I try to know more about them than they realize, then use real world examples of things that hit close to home for them personally to get my point across. Mainly because as we have all said at one point in time or another, they have to feel it personally to really understand. This is a small way to help them take a glimpse into what people all around them, their voters, go through everyday.
