Totally crazy! How is that going to protect anyone? Are they also going to put it up in front of the prisons where so are doing there time? Me thinks its gone way to fair.

Oh, and if Florida law defines "predators" as people with repeat offenses or violent offenses against children under 12, why do Florida sheriffs pat themselves on the back for catching "predators" when they run their sting operations finding 20-something guys in adult chat rooms willing to have sex with eager 14yos or when they pick up guys for possessing child porn?

Okay, I had to come back to this, because the more I think about it, the funnier it is.

It sounds like FL has put so many people on its registry that parents can't figure out who is dangerous and who is not. So, to help them, this country is identifying the "really" (whether that's true or not) dangerous people and putting signs on their lawns.

Isn't that basically saying that all of the other sex offenders they aren't putting signs on the lawn of aren't a danger? But isn't the whole point of the registry to identify dangers? It just seems like a way of admitting that most of the people on the registry pose no danger, and they know it.

Hell, they put it up, just take the fucker down and put it in the garbage.....The sheriff can't set policy...What are they gonna do?

There have been a few cases(I don't have the links) where this same things have happened, mostly in the South and California, BUT the Federal Appellate Courts have ruled it unconstitutional......
It's kind of ironic since it seems like ForiDUH's sex offenders are COPS...Hell, it seems like everyday there's another FloriDUH cop or two getting arrested for messing with kids

I'm so thankful I don't live in that state. Vigilantes rejoice...there's signs pointing the way! If they ever tried to do that here in my yard, I'd have the hot dogs and marshmallows ready, and I'd invite all my friends that support me and my hubby while we have a little bonfire started by that sign as kindling! And I'd make sure that it'd be recorded and posted! What can they do to me? I'm not the SO!

The key phrase to consider in the link about is as follows:

Yes, the cases are not identical, but similar enough that I do not think placing sex offenders signs in front of his house will hold up to a court review.

We can't kid ourselves about what the registry has become. Everyone knows it has nothing to do with child safety! That's a complete joke. Its about people who want someone to put down so they can prove to others that they are superior. Its the old social hierarchy thing. Those sheriffs are looking to protect the citizens. They are looking for someone to piss on.

Again, everyone realize this is just one county Sheriff in FL ( so far ) doing this!!
I wonder how many $10 signs it will take to replaced, repainted, relocated, and all the investigational time spent by officers to try to determine HOW this signs were removed, stolen, painted over, ect....
I can EASILY see thousands and thousands of taxpayer's dollars used up to finally it will be shut down.

Have them made with names like Mike Hunt and Ima Hogg and Dick Morehead and then just randomly put them up on public property
