My son's attorney called me today and notified me of the jury's verdict. Of 12 counts, 8 counts my son was found guilty. I am just so damm sad. there was no physical evidence. No DNA, no physical stating the victims were abused. But strong testimony (from my grand-daughters). I don't even have an idea of what to put in a letter to the judge. To me he is the most wonderful son a mother could have. I have been handling this for over a year now, but now it is reality. That it is likely that he will not be out till we are dead and gone. How does one deal or even cope with this.....I do not know....

I am so sorry to hear this - unfortunately this is why lawyers will tell these folks that are accused not to go to trial - people are being found guilty everyday based only on the word of others - I know you are in unbelievable pain and I wish I could help with that - he is still the wonderful son you know he is.

The attorney had felt that the plea deal was not acceptable. Obviously now it looks much better than what the sentence will be.

I am so so sorry to hear that and I agree with Advocate. We were blessed that my husband's jury got hung. I've been told that it's a victory of sorts and that it's rare (but not as rare as an acquittal)

It's hard to explain to others that yes, a person can be found guilty in "he said/she said" cases with no evidence other than the accuser's testimony.

I am crushed----literally crushed.

I had hoped so much that with no physical evidence the jury would determine that he could not be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Just so devastated by this news.

I am so sorry that this turned out this way. I will always be here for you if you ever need me for anything.

My heart is breaking for you, as I know yours is. I wish there were more that I/we could do. The laws and sentencing must change they are unjust, insane and brutal laws. Being a SO is worse than being a killer and the sentencing worse it is just not right. God Bless You and your son with comfort , peace and strength.

Nobody wins in this....I am so sorry. We will never stop loving our sons, I know I haven't and won't. My son got a very long sentence and I am sure I will not be on this earth to see him walk out those doors. I wish I could see the light at the end of the tunnel but I cannot. I doubt the laws will change and if they do it probably will not be retroactive for our sons. You are not alone and we will be here for you. This is not how we envisioned our life's journey, I certainly did not. Take care of yourself because he will need you.

I completely agree Debbie, nobody wins in this. I'm so sorry you will have to be going through this. Our prayers are with you and your son as you guys go through this process.

@tearsforson: I am so very sorry. A case without physical evidence and they found your son guilty of 8 counts. My prayers go out to you and your son. I agree with others, nobody wins in this. So sad.
